I suffer from very oily skin and am always looking for a powder that will keep my oil at bay for longer. I read the reviews on this and was very keen to try, and also having started using Revlon Colorstay foundation (which I love) I thought this would go well hand-in-hand with the foundation. I bought the coloured variety in Light (not the translucent one). Well I have been quite disappointed. I’ve given this a go every day for 2 weeks, tried different ways of applying, and have come to the conclusion I actually get less oily using foundation only with no powder, than with using this powder! I’m shiny and oily within about 3 hours of using this with the foundation. I don’t have many powders that are worse than this! But this, 5-6 hours I am wanting to actually just wipe everything off my face. It does look beautiful when first applied and smooths and offers coverage and gives a beautiful finish. It does feel a little heavy. I tried a brush and beauty blender. I found a brush gives a more cakey effect despite not using much product at all. But once the oils start coming through, the caking just gets worse. I’m not sure if this powder works well with other foundations maybe. I will give it a go. But I found it doesn’t go at all with its matching colorstay foundation. Not a good combo for me.

I wanted something which would stop my eye liner from smearing over time, and guessed that this powder, based on the info on its packaging, would do the trick. It's s-o-r-t-a working ... I don't know if I'm just not putting it on right, or it really isn't designed to do the trick . I use a brush for applying eyebrow color to apply the powder, since Revlon didn't include an applicator with the product. I've been spreading the powder thinly at the outer corners of my eyes. Maybe I'll try using more of the powder, and under more of my eyelid.

One of my favourite foundations is the Revlon Colorstay liquid so I decided to try the powder to see if it matched the quality. The pressed powder comes in fairly standard packaging of a small circular case with a flip top lid and it has a mirror and sponge, so it is really convenient for use at home or when travelling. I don’t think the mirror is not much use as it’s so small and hard to use to apply makeup to your whole face with it, and I don’t like the sponge for applying the product as a personal preference. I instead apply it with a kabuki brush which I prefer and I think this gives a better finish – you just need to make sure you tap the brush off a little so you don’t get loose powder everywhere. You will find when choosing a shade that there is not a huge ... MoreOne of my favourite foundations is the Revlon Colorstay liquid so I decided to try the powder to see if it matched the quality. I instead apply it with a kabuki brush which I prefer and I think this gives a better finish – you just need to make sure you tap the brush off a little so you don’t get loose powder everywhere. You will find when choosing a shade that there is not a huge range of colours available so if you are dark skinned you might not find a suitable one. I am fairly pale so the Light/Medium is perfect for me – the colour blends well on my skin and has enough depth that I don’t look washed out. The colours look fairly similar in the package so like any foundation I would recommend getting colour matched before you buy.I like that this powder is quite versatile in its use. I can wear this alone (although the coverage is light), over a BB cream or over foundation to set it and give a more polished, flawless finish. I don’t get oily skin but when I wear it alone I find it doesn’t has the staying power to last all day and needs touching up for the best appearance. Sometimes I also find it can leave my skin looking a little cakey if worn alone and it takes some time to kind of soak in before it looks good. When I wear this over foundation I never get the cakey look, and I find it lasts well all day which also increases the staying power of the foundation itself which wouldn’t last so well without the powder on top.I have purchased this a couple of times as I do like it and think it is good value. I never purchase this product at full price though because you can always get it on sale or in a deal so that it is cheaper so I would definitely wait for that if you are going to purchase as you can pick it up for $20-25. This price is quite reasonable as it is comparable to that of other products of this type, and it does last for quite a while.
This is my favorite pressed powder and I've repurchased it several times. It's so easy to blend and it doesn't settle in any creases. This pressed powder never looks cakey on me and has the such a nice texture. It also gives great coverage! The only thing I don't like about the product is that it contains talc.Overall, I would definitely recommend this powder!
Absolutely amazing for me! This is the miracle makeup I’ve searched for! The coverage under my eyes is unlike anything I’ve ever tried before! I don’t think I even need foundation or coverup under my eyes anymore! I’m 57’ and I have dark circles and other makeup always makes me look cakey. This is so smooth and sheer and I look so much younger too! Plus it evens out my complexion superbly! Please keep this on the market forever!

I’d like the manufacturers to remember that they live thanks to consumers money. In the case of this powder, there’s nothing in common between the old and the new formula and I have to admit this is really an improvement (unlike the Colorstay liquid foundations).New "talc-based" formula :Talc, Zinc Stearate, C12-15 Alkyl Benzoate, Zea Mays (Corn) Starch, Polyethylene, Phenyl Trimethicone, Nylon-12, Kaolin, Synthetic Fluorphlogopite, Ethylhexylglycerin, Methicone, Lecithin, Triethoxycaprylylsilane, Silica, Phenoxyethanol +/- (CI 77491/CI 77492/CI 77499/Iron Oxides, CI 77891/Titanium Dioxide)The old mica-based formula was not a good product, irritating, shiny, no shine control and required a lot more work than usual to look acceptable. The new/current talc-based formula is absolutely stunning !While the old formula was wax-like in the pan, hard to pick up and needed strong buffing to look great, the new formula is light-as-air and blends like a dream. Beware for this powder has a very soft, very silky but VERY powdery texture. It’s so easy to pick up that I barely dab my brush into the powder to get the amount I need (don’t swirl the brush, you’ll end up in an opaque powder fog).As usual, the shade 820 Light is a good match, ever-so-slightly too dark (good for summer if you don’t want to switch between foundation shades), to my pale skin with yellow undertones (I used to wear Colorstay Liquid for oily skin before its bad reformulation back in 2013). It slightly darkens as soon as it sucks moisture (like most powders), either from sebum or setting spray, but neither darkens further throughout the day nor oxidizes to a orange shade, it really stays true-to-tone all day long. It's unfortunately too dark for winter (and the lighter shade is too pink so I'll give up on this powder during winter).I also use the shade 880 Translucent which is now ever-so-slightly whitening upon application but becomes truly translucent as soon as it’s loaded with moisture (or setting spray). I admit I’d prefer such a sheer shade to be yellow-based (this one has only the faintest beigy-pink undertone). This is a VERY matte powder : no shine, no glow, no shimmer. It’s long lasting, non-drying, non-irritating and has a average oil-control (shine peeks through at regular speed, but blotting papers fix that, the powder does not comes off or crease). It has a sheer-to-light coverage so don’t rely on it to cover blemishes (it’s not a powder foundation) but it does what it’s meant to : setting foundation and toning down shine.I don’t like the compact : on the one hand the round window allows you to see the actual color of the powder upon buying, and the storing compartment for the puff (underneath the powder) allows the mirror to stay clean and the puff not to stay on the powder (which is better sanitary-wise). On the other hand it’s bulkier than usual and it’s exasperating to pick-up powder then raise the compact to reach the mirror then lower it to pick-up more powder then raise it again etc.The velvet puff itself is unusually good quality (it reminds me of the puffs in my asian powders) and its black color allows to see the slightest amount of powder you’ve picked up. I personnally prefer using a brush or my own puff, or a damp sponge to layer more powder on my oily nose (this way the result is less cakey). It’s fragrance-free, smell-free, and free of synthetic sunscreen.I completely agree with another reviewer : a refill would be a great idea (less expensive so more budget-friendly, and less plastic used so more nature-friendly).
I can't remember if I've written a review for this before, but seeing as I'm still using this powder after several years I guess another can't hurt. My high school best friend used this and loved it and that was 18 years ago. I didn't try it back then because I was stuck on powder foundation and continued to use it for many years. I finally tried this powder 5+ years ago and got hooked. It's super smooth and I can reapply it during my day without it getting heavy. (But if you go hard, as with any powder, it will eventually look cakey.) My face makeup for these last several years has been Nars RCC in Vanilla and this powder in Light. Just enough to even things out, cover breakouts/acne marks, and tame my super oily skin. The powder adds a touch of color to help with evening everything, but I still absolutely see my skin through it. It doesn't break me out, which is a rarity since my skin is VERY particular with anything that goes on it. And it doesn't look "soupy" or like it's floating on my skin if can't use blotting papers for awhile and my oils really come through. I also feel it stays on well and doesn't come off much onto blotting papers. The reason I give this 4/5 stars is the lack of color options. THERE SHOULD BE MORE. Revlon has had the same limited shades in this powder for decades. By now they should have some dark shades! Also, the Light shade does oxidize a touch on me but that's usually after a few hours or so. Ideally I'd be between Fair and Light due to that, but I still stick to Light because the oxidation is so minimal that I know it's really only noticeable to me.
I love powder foundation especially in summer but some are problematic. This is by far the best one I've found in mass market brands. Good coverage and good shade range. I use three shades depending on the season and lighter/darker shades for contouring and eyelid setting, shadow and priming. I'm not even sure it's intended as a foundation but I discovered it works as one in a hurried application that sure enough "stayed" all day. Very hard to go wrong with this product from a legacy brand.
best foundation/ cover up powder I've used besides Physicians Formula and Bare Minerals. I love the soft smooth sponge that comes with it it always leaves such a nice clean finish on even my uneven bumpier days. it stays on for a very long time in a small touch up maybe needed after 12 hours unless you're sweating in between but this is the best and my go-to for every time I'm looking for a powder. I usually use it over my Foundation after I blend it in really well and let it sit for a little while cuz if you put it on too soon after the foundation if it's still a little bit it's kind of clunky in the sponge
