Rhino Rack Nautic Rear Loading Kayak Carrier - 581

Can't go wrong with Rhino Rack and at the best price I could find at the time.

Didn't fit

I just bought this and although they look godd, they don't fit into the C slots on my Trac Rac. The width of the head of the hold down screw is 13/16" and the width of the C channel on the Trac Rac is 9/16. I'll have them ground down so they will fit....

Finally found a good kayak carrier

Great kayak saddle for my 12'6" Jackson Cuda. Rear loading is easy and very secure. I mounted mine to a utility trailer with 2x4's using longer screws. Fyi the screws I used were metric to work with the supplied nuts. A bit overpriced but they work very well for my needs.

RR #581 Does Not Fit Adarac Truck Rack

I purchased the RR #581 version with the in-channel mounting to go with my Adarac truck rack and upon receiving it I quickly found out that the steel on the rack is too thick to allow the in-channel mount on the RR #581 to work. Purchased the RR #571 as a replacement. I haven't installed yet but I know it will work because of the way it clamps.

Secures Load

I purchased 2 of these cradles (side loading type) to carry 2 hobie kayaks, 1 outback 85lbs and 1 compass 68lbs. It took loading and unloading the boats several times to get the right mounting position so both boats fit and the cradles rest at an ideal spot along the hull. But since securing the mounts I've had no issues. They are securely locked into place, haven't come loose, and have held both boats as imagined with no issues. I would buy again and for our needs are much better than the j type racks that were one of the alternatives I considered. The only negative was the 12ft straps included were too short to go around our boats due to my bar length and having to bring them back under the section of rack the crossbars are mounted to. Rhino rack sells longer straps with the rubber buckle guard (which I removed and placed on the 15ft straps I already had because they are awesome) but would do nothing to swap or replace the 12 footers. And only recommended I buy them... Overall works as advertised and I would purchase again.

Works great for my OC1

Works great for loading and transporting my one man outrigger canoe! I have off brand racks on my truck and this carrier was a super tight fit to slide in the track- had to use a 2x4 to bang it in. It works great and seems well made.
