It works but for the cost it should do something more than be a cheap optic.

Simple, lightweight, sturdily made and bright to look through. No problems with my glasses on. Does the job exceptionally well without adding any significant bulk or weight to the camera.

I bought this for my GRIIIx and it is okay but hardly great. Aside from the fact that is more expensive than it should be, it has an opening too small for easy use with eyeglasses and it has to contact the eyeglass lens to afford seeing the entire full frame bright line. (Attn. Ricoh - over 60% of Americans wear eye glasses). At least it is a slight improvement over the GV-2 for the GRIII which had a rough grit coating that scratched eyeglass lens (it cost me a new lens for my glasses in addition to the cost of the viewfinder), but this one still has a hard coating instead of something soft. I sanded mine smoother with 800 grit sandpaper, but I would still feel better with some soft elastomer coating on the rim. One note though: there seems to be some confusion in descriptions about the 1:1 cropped view. The finder does have a bright line for the full 2:3 frame, but it also has four tick marks on that frame to indicate the 1:1 crop if one wants to use that.

It works as advertised. I like using it with the back display off. It is a good guide for framing?. Mine seems to be off at the top by a significant amount?. I realize view finders are not EVF?s and don?t have that expectation. I find it especially helpful at the beginning of a shoot to get my eye used to the correct view for the GRIIIX. All in all I?m happy to have it, and do find it very useful.
I like this viewfinder a lot. The price is hefty, but it does the job well, it's small and looks slick. At the same time I do have to get my eye really in there when I'm wearing glasses (most of the time) to see the frame guide markings. Wish it could also be tailored for people who wear glasses a bit better. That's the only reason it gets 4 stars for me. But even with glasses it's been really helpful, especially in the sun when I can't really see the screen at all
Pros: Quality accessory.Cons: Cost bordering on the prohibitive ... should be revised down.
Leica can get away with this kind of pricing because it is a veblen good but not Ricoh. This viewfinder doesn't work well with eyeglasses and if I have to photograph with a LCD screen I have a smartphone for that. I returned the VF and the camera. I'll wait until I can get a Fuji X100v for a few dollars more.
Unlocks the full potential of the Ricoh GR iii x. Also works and looks great on the Fujifilm X-A3 and X-A7 cameras with XF27mm lens attached.
Excellent EXPENSIVE external viewfinder. Extreme clear view. Can not complain.
