I have been using this for about a week now and can say this is definitely one of the better guitar controllers out there for Rock Band 4 and Festival but there are a few caviats from making a true perfect controller.1. No wired mode: Like none at all, even when plugging the guitar in via a usb cable it cant be used wired unlike most other PDP products which really sucks if you lose the dongle or want to play with significantly less lag.2. Horrible strap placement: The strap peg on the right side of the guitar will always get the strap caught with the edge of tbe guitar making it slightly harder to adjust comfortably.3, No overdrive button: Altough the right D-pad can be used to activate overdrive, I find it really annoying to have to move my hand all the way ... MoreI have been using this for about a week now and can say this is definitely one of the better guitar controllers out there for Rock Band 4 and Festival but there are a few caviats from making a true perfect controller.1. The first thing I noticed, is the guitar seems to be of lower quality, compared to previous versions from other brands, but it works. I’m using it for the PS5, and the fret buttons work for Fortnite Festival, but the strum can’t be used. I don’t notice any lag, and can’t comment on its long term durability, because I just received it. It’s disappointing, that there were no instructions given on how to reconfigure the inputs for Fortnite Festival, but I did manage to figure it out. The usb dongle needed an adapter, that was not included, in order to be used on the usb c ports on the front of the ps5 (which was recommended in the setup instructions) Overall, I enjoy using the controller, even without full compatibility, but ideally, I would prefer for everything to ... MoreThe first thing I noticed, is the guitar seems to be of lower quality, compared to previous versions from other brands, but it works. Let's start with packaging: this guitar came very secure and neatly organized with protection in mind. All paperwork was easy to find and read. Connecting to the ps4 was effortless, and I didn't have to do any complicated steps as it was all automatic. The gloss finish is great, but the only downfall is that it shows fingerprints extremely easy, so if you're worried about that, you will have to wipe down after every use. A matte or textured finish would help and provide a better grip. The buttons have a solid feel to them and don't seem weak or cheap. The strap could have a better design as I can see the material becoming weak and ripping over time and use.

I was so excited when this guitar was announced. Growing up, rock band and guitar hero was a fun time in my life with so many games coming out. This guitar is a beautiful recreation of the quality that the rock band guitars were able to produce. The 5 color buttons have a great feel and really no lag that I noticed when playing. The strum button is a little sponging, which is similar to early rock band guitars. I wish the strum was a little stiffer, but that's me being picky. The instructions say a 36-hour battery life after charge. I've played it close to 30 hours, and that statement looks to be true. I will recommend this to anyone who wants to get back into playing rock band.
It has been far too long since I’ve had a proper instrument, finally the wait is over. I’m just a regular consumer so I can be brutally honest. The Riffmaster is exactly what I needed in an instrument peripheral after all these years. It feels near identical to the Jaguar, which is the typical Rock Band style guitar I prefer.Pros:- VERY quiet frets and strum bar, which I prefer over the clicky ones associated with Guitar Hero instruments.- Sleek design, full black is simple yet bold.- Analog stick for menus/movement is a great innovation (does not work in Rock Band as it was never programmed to have stick input via guitar, but console menus and Festival uses it well.)- Rechargeable battery FINALLY. Took long enough.- Tilt activation, I haven’t had an issue ... MoreIt has been far too long since I’ve had a proper instrument, finally the wait is over. I’ve seen a lot of issues posted however.Cons:- Strap placement design, it gets caught on the end of the guitar often which can be super annoying.- No way to turn it off once on?!? If I want to play something else after rocking, I have to completely turn off system or unplug the usb dongle to save the battery.Highly recommend. Hope they add pick guards on the website, since I plan on buying a second and it would be good to differentiate them easier. I also would love to see a bass or drums in the near future.
While this isn’t entirely PDP’s fault, they shipped this product way too early. Pro Guitar has been ‘supported’ on Fortnite Festival for 2 weeks now, yet tilt (overdrive) rarely works. I find myself giving up on songs and throwing the guitar in circles in an attempt to get tilt working, however to no avail. Not really sure the reason for preordering and paying a premium to ship the Riffmaster to my country when it doesn’t even work with the primary game it’s designed for. Works fine in RB4, so it is evidently an issue on Epic’s end, but I’m not sure why there wasn’t sufficient testing on PDP’s end to see if the product even worked prior to shipment. Definitely feeling a large wave of post-purchase regret and from what I can tell from Reddit forums, PDP nor Epic has ... MoreWhile this isn’t entirely PDP’s fault, they shipped this product way too early. Feels great to use and play for both Rock Band 4 and Fortnite Festival. The frets and strum bar feel sturdy but responsive and easy to press. I find that tilting to use overdrive is not as responsive as the original guitar that launched with RB4, but I'm getting used to it. Can still use the d-pad for overdrive, but it's a bit of a reach to the button for me. The built-in headphone jack is clutch. It is also great to be able to control the volume with the guitar option buttons. This guitar doesn't have the toggle switch to change the audio effect during a solo or overdrive in RB4, but I don't use that much, so I don't miss it. Using the analog stick in Fortnite Festival is a bit difficult, but that could be my perspective for which way is which. Overall, the basics are pretty similar to the original RB4 guitar, with a couple of QOL improvements.
I havent played rockband in years so i grabbed this to get me back into the game. It has been awesome. It feels like a classic Rock Band Guitar. The buttons are crisp, but not loud. The strum bar also feels like a classic Rock Band guitar. A soft strum feeling, unlike a guitar hero guitar. It charges via USB-C and the battery lasts super long. I also never have any connection issues with it. It connects wirelessly via plug in usb with the connection being the size of a thumb drive. Its also super helpful that the guitar folds in half for storage. If you’re on the fence about this, get it.
Excellent build quality. Definitely "Rock Band" like, but found a bit of a middle ground with Guitar Hero guitars. Used for Clone Hero on PC, works perfect except Star Power, had to assign to a button. This may be just a PS4/5 device shortcoming, not sure about the XBOX one. This sucker is QUIET. Had my son put on headphones and play this guitar and honestly I fell asleep. The finger-print prone glossy finish is a bit annoying but it does look sleek. Love the ability to be able to condense the guitar down via the fold down fret bar.And can't say enough about the rechargeable battery.. that is a LIFE saver and money saver too.... no more double A batteries.
I had been using a fender Stratocaster with the Wii version of rockband. This PDP Riftmaster on PS5 with Rockband 4 is a huge upgrade. The guitar feels similar in hand to the Stratocaster, but the system is much more responsive overall. There's a sync button for the dongle, after which I just use the PlayStation button on the guitar to connect it. The guitar will also operate in the PlayStation menus outside the game and the joystick is a great way to navigate. A little on the expensive side, but it's nice you can actually get new hardware. Battery life is phenomenal. The only downside is the black plastic is quite a fingerprint magnet. Overall works very well. I recommended it.
