This slicer is handy when slicing home made bread as you can adjust width of your slice without cutting your self as there is a cutting guide to use when slicing your bread or meat,

I have had a larger Food slicer in the past which was very cumbersome. This food slicer is extremely compact which is great. I also love the fact that it's German made and has a decent warranty, so I expect it to last. Tried it on smoked chicken so far and I can get the slices really thin, which is great. I also purchased it for cake bars, almond bread, normal bread and to get pineapple slices the exact thickness I want.

Bought this slicer for slicing homemade bread as some of the reviews said it was fantastic for this. I agree that it slices homemade bread really well but as others have said the guides are flimsy. The motor seems to struggle cutting through the crusts so I don't think I would try to cut some dried or semi dried meats like salami or prosciutto. I think a 65w motor is too small. Considering this is a German made? Product it is a little disappointing for the price. Having said that I do like the fact that it folds flat for storage.

Very compact, just what I wanted to replace my old Philips one when it dies. I use it for cold meats and homemade bread and it does a excellent job
This is a good basic unit for home slicing. Dont expect it to be like the big metal versions but for slicing bread and meat it has been good. The size of the block of meat can be no bigger than a small house brick as it wont fit on the unit. It is very easy to clean and not heavy if you are packing away after each use. Because it is plastic the wall that the food sits against when slicing can bow in a little when pressure is put on the item which results in a slightly thicker slice than originally intended. I am happy with its performance and I have one at home and one at our country property.
We wanted a small electric slicer for not very frequent use. My husband cures and smokes bacon and we sometimes need to slice continental smallgoods. This slicer does both perfectly. It takes up little space and is light.
I purchased this primarily for slicing home made bread. Given my experiences with another brand slicer from a store I was doubtful that it would do the job but decided to risk it based on all of the positive reviews on this site. I have had the Ritter Markant 01 for about 6 months now and I love it. I have a bread machine and before getting this I had great difficulty slicing freshly made bread. I like it thick for toasting and my partner likes it thin for sandwiches. Either is no problem with the adjustable knob. You do have to learn how to hold the loaf - I slice my loaves sideways since they are too tall to cut while upright. Others have commented that the sliding tray does become dislodged sometimes, but with care this does not happen very often. I love that you can give it a brush over to remove crumbs, quickly fold it up again and store it away. It has a small footprint if stored in the original box.
THe slicer works very well. It's also compact and easy to store, which is great in a smaller kitchen.
I also purchased this slicer for slicing my homemade bread. After reading reviews I decided upon this one. It is just perfect for the job. I haven't tried slicing cold meat yet, but think it would be very good at that also. I am more than happy with this purchase.
