Rivals For Catan - Deluxe

This is a fantastic game. Our 7 and 10 year old love it. 2 Player, easy and quick to setup, and the deluxe version has plenty of variation to keep the game fun.The box is big enough to contain everything easily - even after unpacking.The rule book is great and easy to follow. The cards are a good size and the game is very enjoyable.Well worth it and regularly gets used in our house.

A Quicker Rival for Catan

If the full version of Settlers of Catan overwhelms you but you want to understand the hype, this game is for you. Quick to pick up and play, I've enjoyed this each time it comes off the game shelf. I admire the hand-drawn art on each card. The game mechanics allow you to play simply or like Machiavelli. And now the deluxe version with the game tray keeps your tabletop orderly. I have fond memories of playing this game with good friends and look forward to creating more!The box is oversized to accommodate both expansions ("Age of Darkness" and "Age of Enlightenment").

Amazing game

My girlfriend and I haven't had this much fun with a game for a long time, and we've played hundreds. It was supposed to be a dud judging by some reviews but instead it keeps us on our toes and the tension is palpable when end-game nears. Exciting, interesting, and highly strategic despite the element of randomness. Highly recommended.

An excellent two player game

Fast to learn, with a heap of additional variations in the deluxe version.The rule book is good - but read it carefully as some important clarifications are not highlighted as seperate points.It does require a decent sized table to play on.

Catan Condensed!

It goes without saying that Settlers of Catan is the game that started it all (for me and a lot of other people who enjoy the hobby) Rivals of Catan very much maintains the core idea, and infact uses some pretty cool play mechanics to simulate the full game. My wife and I enjoy this game a lot, although without some of the expansions which are included the game can feel like more of a race against each other, more than a trading game as player interaction is limited. But it doesn’t stop it being fun, and of course all the cards help it to feel like you are in the world of Catan. As a finish I would say that this game shouldn’t be thought of as what 7 Wonders Duel is to 7 Wonders, i think those games are better. Favorite 2 player game

If you like Catan, this is a great 2 player version. The first time you play it might take a little while to get the hang of, but definitely worth it. A great price too!

Great 2 player game!

So read a few reviews online that said this game could be ok.... so i discovered this website (which is awesome) and got the game for collection as i live close by. Bought this for myself and my husband to play and i would highly recommend it to someone else.... its a great two player game.... i have only been playing it a couple of weeks so still have to refer to the rule book every now and then, but its defo holding our interests. i will say it takes us longer then the suggested time frames but that could be cause we are relatively new to it! I found the rule book a bit tricky to understand at time but for those times we just go to youtube. Great fun

Really enjoying this game. The rules are a bit of a headache to read because they are badly worded in places. But in the end it doesn't matter because its great fun when you start playing and then it all makes sense .

I bought this as my first boardgame to play with the wife, and we love it. Fast and quite strategic, it's a great way to pass a winter, or summer, afternoon.Only criticism is that the instruction manual is daunting at first. But once you set it up and play a few games it clicks.Recommended.

Rivals for Catan: Deluxe Edition

Great game, one of our favorites. I especially like the trays that come in the deluxe version, great for when you play, to bad you can't store the cards in them. The only other complaint is the commerce, and strength tokens are disappointing.
