RME ADI-2/4 Pro SE | 2x4 AD/DA Converter
RME's ADI-2/4 Pro SE represents the pinnacle of audio conversion technology, building upon the multi award-winning ADI-2 series with a newly designed circuit board, enhanced specifications, and faster DSP processing. This latest masterpiece combines reference-class technical specifications with an unprecedented feature set, offering 32-bit/768 kHz converters that achieve up to 123 dBA signal-to-noise ratio. The powerful onboard DSP provides comprehensive audio processing capabilities including 5-band parametric EQ, fast Bass/Treble adjustment, Crossfeed, and an innovative Loudness sound control system. The unit's connectivity options are exceptionally comprehensive, featuring two servo-balanced analogue inputs on combo XLR/TRS jacks, dual balanced and unbalanced outputs, and two stereo Extreme Power headphone outputs on the front panel for balanced operation of all headphones. The inclusion of a 4.4mm Pentaconn balanced connection with IEM power adjustment ensures compatibility with the latest high-end personal audio equipment. Digital connectivity includes optical SPDIF I/O with ADAT support, coaxial SPDIF (RCA), and AES I/O (XLR) via the included breakout cable. A standout feature is the independent balanced outputs for Line and Phones, allowing simultaneous use without muting rear outputs - perfect for mastering applications where insert effects need to be handled. The high-resolution IPS panel provides intuitive graphical operation, displaying peak level metres, a 30-band analyser using DIGICheck biquad filter technology, and a comprehensive State Overview screen. The USB 2.0 port offers full Class Compliant (UAC 2.0) compatibility with iOS, macOS, Linux, and Windows 10, while the external switched power supply with lockable connector enables battery operation for mobile and galvanically isolated applications.

This is an absolutely amazing sound creation device that can be used as a standalone part of a stereo system or as the ADC/DAC unit of a PC/laptop/tablet based audio system. And also as a wired receiver for portable devices. The sound quality is excellent! The build quality is amazing. Numerous features that can be used either with direct menu buttons or (better) with the RME app for Win/Mac/iPad. Individual parametric equalization of headphones or room configurations with saveable presets is a very useful feature. But there are many more features that you can check out and customize to suit your individual needs. The ability to save settings by profile is very valuable. The only cons I found is that the LED backlight cannot be controlled by any software or menu ... MoreThis is an absolutely amazing sound creation device that can be used as a standalone part of a stereo system or as the ADC/DAC unit of a PC/laptop/tablet based audio system. But there are many more features that you can check out and customize to suit your individual needs. The ability to save settings by profile is very valuable. The only cons I found is that the LED backlight cannot be controlled by any software or menu options. When the device is installed in the bedroom, the bright red LED ring around the power button in standby mode creates too much irritating lighting. And also a non-switchable internal LED backlight with a warm (lamp) glow through the ventilation holes of the case in operating/idling mode. The manufacturer responded that the current hardware layout of the board does not allow controlling the brightness/on/off of the LEDs. I think this design flaw can be addressed in future developments, either by reworking the board or upgrading the model. At least, make each LED RGB style so the color/hue can be customized, and create options to turn them on/off based on events/schedules via menu/app settings.

The cleanest sound I've ever heard from my speakers and headphones. Built-in EQ is really valuable as well as the remote control.
