I can't believe this is being sold anywhere but a vintage toy show. It's from 2004. I bought my kid one when he was 5. Now he's turning 22.Robotics has clearly moved far beyond this electronic puppet from almost 18 years ago. Your child will become bored with it after he/she does the few activities and movements it is capable of. I'm still shocked it's still on store shelves, unchanged, after almost 2 decades! Wowwee indeed!

I searched and searched for the perfect robot. It was difficult to find one that wasn't for toddlers, or one that was STEM based (he goes to a STEM Technical school - I didn't want him to have to build something). Purchased for my nephew for Christmas! He has yet to use it but is REALLLYYY excited to use it. Did not realize that you need 2 kids of batteries for use. Keep that in mind! I read one battery and didn’t realize it needed AA as well which is why it still hasn’t been used

I purchased the Robosapien for my grandson. It is the most entertaining toy that we have ever purchased. The Robosapien does so many movements and is not only a fun toy, it is teaching my grandson a lot about programming robots as well as patience to keep at it when trying to get the robot to do what he wants. Well worth the money!!
This robot won the first ever robotic soccer tournament. It is highly modifiable and with the right skills could easily be improved with artificial intelligence. In its base form it is an infra red controlled bipedal robot capable of lifting small objects and walking with a true bipedal walking gait. It saddens me to see such an awesome robot being review bombed by people of low morality. There is nothing available in 2021 that is better than the Robosapien. And yes it was developed and designed by a NASA LANL scientist: Mark Tilden. Simple and universal enough to be enjoyed by anyone, advanced enough to be heavily modified.
The robot is a little complex to work the buttons. You cannot really control the arms and pinchers how you like. They are all pre-programmed and only move as they are programmed. It does some cool moves but the kids can’t make it do exactly what they want. It only does the preprogrammed arm movements. You can make it walk and turn all you want. You will need to read the instructions. Our kids got it for Christmas and it’s already forgotten.
My kid loves robots and this was on sale for like 45% off, so took a chance. We cringed as he dragged it up the steps and then all started laughing as it went "ouch" with everything bump. The controls are convoluted but you can program some relatively complex sequences. It seems pretty sturdy too, but I suspect this will be one of those toys that loses luster quickly and just takes up a huge spot on the toy shelf. This could shine as an intro to chaining commands, so if you have someone interested in robotics or coding, this could be a very basic introduction to that.
Picked this up as a Christmas present for my 8 year old nephew. He loves it. It was easy for him to figure out how to use. Build quality is better than expected. The remote it comes with can be a little confusing when you first look at it but you’ll figure it out quickly. It can walk on carpet or hard floors without a problem. He managed to make it pick up a pen off the floor with its hand! Overall, I’d say it’s worth the asking price. Be prepared to buy loads of batteries though as it isn’t rechargeable
It’s great to play with to see just what it can do and does seem to do more things then you can get around to. It’s great just trying to figure out The remote control and then seeing just what the robot will do. It’s to easy to have hours of fun and you just don’t want to stop. Worth the purchase price.
Purchased as a gift for late December. The item was backordered, so it was several weeks until I received the item. Less than one month of use. Maybe 4 times of play under 15 minutes each time and no longer works. Changed batteries and that did'nt help. Not refund eligible since 1/16/22.
