Rode PSM1 Microphone Shock Mount

I bought these to pair with using the Rode Procaster mics. They’re great, I have no complaints. Plus, they look cool! Right? Wait, that’s not why people buy them? Jk. They absolutely do their job well.

Does the Job and Looks professional

I use this with my Rode Procaster for my Podcast. At first I tought it would be pretty plastic-y but unboxing it, it(s actually really well build and fairly heavy. It does his job perfectly!Next to that, it looks professional. When I'm seeting up my mics for the podcast, whenever I have to go on lacation, people actually take me more serious! So that's also a Pro!I recommend it!

Great addition to a set-up using the Røde Procaster

I got this to use with the Røde Procaster on a table-mounted mic stand, as I found the simple plastic ring-mount of the mic's supplied holder a little too flexible under the weight of that heavy unit, and I wanted to further reduce vibrations from the table coming up through the holder to the mic. This cage is nicely finished and does what it should. Not overly springy. The elastic is new, so it's taut rather than saggy. Previous spring cages that I've owned for other mics have had quick releases that I liked, whereas this one requires the mic to be screwed into the frame. The advantage of this design there is zero risk of the mic falling out of the cage by accident, and unscrewing only takes a few seconds.

It's well put together but it feels plastic it could be replaced with something stronger not plastic but apart from that works fine.

No More Thump!

I purchased the Rode Procaster along with the Rode PSM1 Shockmount for my congregation at church. Our Minister gets a little animated at times and has a habit of thumping the podium with his palm to make a point.I'm pleased to say this is no longer picked up by the mic.

One shockmount to rule them all, kinda

I got this shock mount as part of the Procaster kit and felt it would make my recording setup better. The Rode Procaster mounts to the inner ring using the threaded base found on the microphone. There are two bungee style bands that center the inner and outer rings and provide the shock stopping power. Using the PSM1 I was able to move the microphone around without generating any audio feedback so it did its job well. I did notice that my Procaster appears a bit limp in the PSM1 Shockmount leading me to think the bungee cords need to be a little stronger. Also, noticed that the mounting point that allows you to tilt the mic up and down doesn't have enough friction so it is difficult to position.

Perfect performer

Most podcasters will know that a cheap shockmount can still lead to some undesirable noise infiltrating recordings which is why I went with the Rode PSM1. Rode is an incredibly reputable company and the PSM1 lives up to the lofty expectations. No nonsense but great build quality and it was easy as pie to set up.

Like an Idiot, I threw out my HyperX microphone arm adapter years ago thinking I'd never use it, Fast Forward to the present and I wanted the Rodes PSA1+ Arm, so I order this as well (Expensive adapter replacement).Good new is works great, you just need to unscrew and flip the hooks on the HyperX for the buggies to snap on!

Strurdy, well built mount for the Procaster

Overall:The PSM1 shock mount is nicely designed and constructed. Installing the Procaster took all of 60 seconds using the large nut that screws onto the rear of the mic. It is secure and properly supported. The mount is all metal and should last as long as the mic. The heavy duty construction of the mount matches the rugged build of the Procaster. Very pleased.
