All the sound equipment seem to be expensive. Anyways, this connector works. Apparently the middle mic jack works better and the recording is louder!Having the headphone jack on the same side of the mic jacks could be confusing if your eye sight isn't as good as a 20 years old to put your mic into the headphone jack with consequence being your recording gone very wrong.

As a journalist on the move, I don't always have all my equipment with me. But one thing I never leave the house with is my mobile phone. If I see a news story breaking, I can just whip out my phone and start recording. The video is good enough for TV news and most cases can't be distinguished from my big camera anyway. But one thing my phone isn't particularly good at is recording clean audio during elevated ambient noise situations. For times like that I need to attach a microphone to my mobile so the background noise doesn't ruin my shot. Now, you may not know this, but you can't just plug a microphone into your mobile and expect it to work. You see, the connections are different. Look at your phone's headset and you'll see 4 divisions. Now look at your microphone. See the difference? That's why you need an adapter like this. This SC6 has 2 microphone slots and 1 earphone slot so you can record both yourself and your interview subject at the same time. Now, one word of caution though, the earphone does not act as a monitor for your recording audio. It can only be used to listen after the fact. I don't know any product that allows you to monitor audio while you're recording with your mobile phone so this is not a hit against this product. In fact the other similar devices I have are nowhere near as well built as this one. This is a solid device that will give you many years of good service. The build quality is excellent and the small size makes it easy to insure you've always got the necessary tools to perform your job at any time. All in all, I recommend this device to anyone who needs to record audio from an externall microphone from their mobile phone .

I couldn't get this to work, I will be returning it. I tried a lav mic, and shotgun mic, both with different adaptors, and also just the iPhone earbuds in case the wiring was different. I am an audio engineer and wanted a quick way to record decent audio without having to solder up a cable myself. Looks like I'll need to heat up my soldering iron :(

The SC6 allows the use of the Rode SC1 microphone to be used in conjunction with standard pin-out TRS 3.5mm headphones. Ideal for superior audio in both channels during making a podcast or broadcasts live from the iphone to studio or social media. It has two mic sockets that can allow the use of two microphones for interviews. The pin out uses the CITA standard.
I tried to use the lightning adapter to the unit on one side to my iPhone 11 and my stereo earbuds and rode lavalier on the other. The microphone signal went through to record of video however no audio signal came through to monitor the input on my earphones. I’m going to return in and try the SC6-L as this unit may be only for older iPhones that have the analog audio jack, and newer non iOS devices. However nothing in the product description indicates this lack of compatibility.
I spent a lot of time in Guitar Center's and other electronics stores looking for something like this. I was told multiple times that it was not possible. This product proves them wrong. I've only used it a few times so far, but it performs flawlessly combing two mics into one input with a bonus plug for monitoring levels. I'd suggest this to anyone doing video with a mobile device.
I bought this on the recommendation from Røde when I discovered that the SC6-L was out of stock for over a month at every store I tried. The SC6-L would've been the perfect solution because it has a Lightning plug that would fit right into my iPhone 11, but since that model wasn't available, Røde suggested this model and though I did need to also get a 3.5mm to Lightning adapter... and the Røde SC4 adapter to be able to use my Røde VideoMic Pro with my iPhone, eventually the combination of these gadgets gave me the desired result. Note: do not buy a generic non-Røde item from an unreliable source. I tried that first and had to return a thing that didn't work at all.
This is working great for me to record iphone calls/skype for podcasts (with their permission obviously! Insulted you even thought that about me.)Drawbacks!!There isn't much room to plug everything in so make sure your 3.5mm inputs aren't very bulky. And remember if you're using a newer iPhone you would need a lightning to 3.5mm dongle aka adapter.ANNNND remember that these mic inputs are TRRS so you need the 3 rings on the end of the 3.5mm to use this piece. Or you can get another adapter (Rode SC4) . Seriously adapters are in their golden years, thanks Apple.
if you are using a smartlav or standard rode lavalier or headset microphone (with micon 11), this adapter allows you to use it plus a headphone for monitoring or two way speaking. plug this into your smartphone 3.5 mm and the headphones and (up to) two rode TRRS connections into this. no loss of quality. however, if you have a protective case, this will not each in to the socket to properly lock so you either need to remove the case or (as i have) get a short TRRS male to female extension. I need to check if it works with the micon-2 (trs plug in power adapter) and will edit this review when i check it.
I love how it works for the most part? Like, it does do as advertised, but there are also settings in the phones you have to change to enable playthrough. Sooooo, it won't work everywhere. Does anyone know if there is something that would one to adjust mic levels with this kind of set up? Also, kinda mad out of cheap plastic, so there's that
