This gaming laptop is portable and offers great performance for a thin and light design. Keyboard and mouse pad is great! This year's model has a web cam which is always good! 1440p 16:9 165 Hz screen has good colour accuracy. I wish the screen was a little bit brighter but it is completely fine for indoor use. The Nvidia RTX 3070Ti has a Maximum TGP of 120W which helps when playing heavy titles and the MUX switch helps with maximizing FPS. Turbo mode can be too loud for some users but Performance mode gives you a sweet spot between performance and fan noise. I bought this on PB Tech Winter sale, couple of weeks ago and so far I'm very happy with the purchase! Thank you PB Tech Albany!

Good general use, overheating issues when gaming.

One chooses to buy a gaming laptop as their primary goal is a frictionless solution to PC gaming either on the go or possibly as a console replacement. I expect the out-of-the-box experience to 'just work,' and this does not. I've done some adjustments in the included ASUS applications and it's not helping. The CPU consistently hits 95-96c, which is within spec but still, that's hot. This laptop was purchased prior to a multi-week international trip as my Christmas present, and it's yet to provide any gaming entertainment. This is thoroughly disappointing that it appears that ASUS either has a general design issue (cooling solution, firmware boosting too high for CPU and/or GPU) or bad QA. Either way, it's no fun for the consumer. When I am back in the US I will be visiting the local Best Buy, purchasing an extended warranty as I'm concerned now this is going to cook itself in year two and I'm going to be past return period. Also, I'll be asking about what can be done to fix the situation. Again, this should be ready to go out of the box. I don't want to tweak or troubleshoot, I can do that on the PCs I build. I just want this to work. What's good about this laptop is when I use it as my 'workstation' it's great, USB-C PD works perfect, battery life isn't bad, and I think QHD at this screen size is great especially with high refresh.

Good value for a high end gaming laptop.
16 October 2022

Great value for a high end gaming laptop. It wasn't as expensive as some of the other high ends and the build quality didn't feel cheap. A lot of laptops will compromise build quality and features for high end specs to undercut the competition while others don't but are outrageously expensive like Razor Blade. This one fits in the middle. I bought mines with the gtx 3070 ti. It will run modern and AAA games at max settings no problems. The mux switch and webcam were nice additions to the 2022 model. Although the camera is only 720p I feel the overall design, specs and feature to remain a 5 out of 5.

Good, but with some baggage and a learning curb
26 May 2022

Overall so far a good, powerful laptop. Screen quality is sharp and is especially admired when paired with the high frame rate capabilities. CPU and GPU (according to "C" remains in acceptable range during long gaming sessions (with fan mat assistance) and can be monitored either through a screen overlay for the GPU (found under the GeForce Experience app) or color coated by ranges via keyboard lighting for CPU (found in the Armoury Crate app). Also relatively quiet on "performance mode". I also appreciated the "Battery Health Charging" settings in the MYASUS app. However, on "turbo mode" (as in "Armoury Crate" description insinuates) the fan noise can become very loud depending on the task. Also, while the GPU and CPU show they are usually within a good temperature range, some of the exterior parts of the laptop, especially in the blank area next to the M1-M4 fn keys, become extremely hot to the point I was worried I may burn myself why laptop in under heavy task load. Another area of disappointment was the battery life. Even simply tasks such as video steaming, even with lower screen lighting, seem to drain battery much more quickly than any other laptop I have ever used. Also, while a very mild complaint, I found that this laptop came with a unexpected learning curb that could have been easily avoided with even a simple physical copy of a user manual would have been included. There are, as of my count currently, at least five apps that have the potential to change settings of my laptop, all of which are very useful. I understand that there are reasons why these settings are housed under different apps however this does not excuse the lack a starter user manual in the box itself. The only reason I found the proper user manual that ASUS has on their website is because I stumbled across the MyASUS app by accident.

Great after some tweaks

This is one hot potato out of the box but after some changes its now a baked potato, ready for enjoyment. You'll need to adjust the min / max CPU frequencies in your power plans for maximum potatoage. At idle by default it runs at max CPU which there's no need for that. Let your CPU raise and fall as it needs to. Set min at 5% instead of 100% and set max at 99% (optional) which really helps with heat. Aside from that I love this thing. Hoping it lasts me a long time. Asus's software is a bit bloated but overall, it's turned one sweet potato

Great value machine. Sold my Dell XPS 15

This is an excellent machine that makes compromises in the right places to deliver a fast and reliable machine! I was running a Dell XPS 15, but it was time to upgrade. This machine may not have the same aluminium build quality and it was missing a couple of features which I can cope without (thunderbolt / fingerprint reader / SD card reader). However, I wanted the extra graphics performance. This delivers in spades at a great price (when on special). I looked elsewhere, but JB had the best price and is known for better warranty service. It isn't the best at sleeping (I also had problems with the Dell), but hibernate is quick enough and it isn't enough of a problem for me to dock a star. It may be a gaming laptop, but I'm using it for video, design and streaming. And the windows hello sign-in with webcam is brilliant. Highly recommended!

This laptop is exactly what I was looking for. I've finally got it set up and updated, and downloaded some games to give it a test. So far I've tested Elden Ring, and it's running it at 2560x1440 on high at a pretty steady 58-60 fps. Everyday tasks are very speedy, however it does tend to ramp up the fans quite a bit. While downloading updates via Armoury Crate and Windows Update, temps rose to around 82C and the fan noise was very audible. During gaming it sounds like an aircraft with a slightly high pitched whine going. The screen is great, and the keyboard and track pad are amazing. The form factor is exactly what I was looking for, and the power is perfect in my opinion. The form factor is exactly what I was looking for, and the power is perfect in my opinion. For those curious, the box includes the laptop, the charging brick (holy cow, this thing is absolutely massive) and a few pieces of paper. The box has this fancy mechanism to lift the laptop when you open it, but mine was stuck and I only noticed it after I had the laptop out of the box and opened it again to get out the papers. I'd recommend you ignore the answer in the question section stating this comes with a backpack and headphones - it doesn't. My device appears to have no QC issues, there's no screen bleed and no dead pixels. Sticker placement for the Ryzen and RTX stickers isn't even, but I don't really plan to leave those on my device. Overall, this computer totally gets my recommendation. It's not as powerful as my main computer, but it comes as close as I'd expect for a laptop. I'm normally on my desktop with an 11900k with a 3080Ti, and this isn't much of a downgrade, especially considering I can take it with me wherever I go. As for why I actually bought it, don't judge me that I needed a second computer so that I can play co-op Genshin with myself.

Overheating issues
1 December 2022

The laptop worked very well for the first 2 months. But about a month or so ago I started facing overheating issues. While playing games the temperatures would go to 95C and the laptop would shut down automatically. I have tried a lot of things from updating/downgrading drivers/BIOS, reinstalling windows, and creating a manual fan profile. Nothing has worked for me so far. I have had this laptop for 4 months so I cannot return it either. I think this is just my unit as I cannot find any help online. Beware of these issues before making a purchase.

VR Ready Gaming Laptop

I recently have started VR gaming. Started out with the Oculus Quest 2 then found out there were so many more amazing VR games that are available through PC VR applications like SteamVR. Getting the ASUS ROG Zephyrus G15 VR ready gaming laptop was a great investment. I’ve been able to play amazing VR games like Half-Life and The Forest. This laptop has delivered the power, graphics, and performance quality needed to have the best VR experience. I’ll recommend this laptop to anyone that wants that mobile PC power.
