Got the lens and was exited to try it out as I have read many great reviews on this lens and I have seen many great pictures taken with this lens. Upon opening the package the lens feels solidly built, focus was smooth and the construction felt solid. No loose parts or anything like that with good packaging. Attaching lens to Nikon D610 was nice, connection was not too lose or tight, very easy to put on and off. I am currently in the process of exchanging it for the exact same items as the lens was solid, but I have read about people getting bad lens and some getting great sharp lens. Hoping to get a lens that can focus sharp at infinity. Going through the exchange process is a pain and annoying but hoping B&H makes the process easy, first time returning/exchanging an item. Will update once I get replacement lens.

I love the metal construction yet it being lightweight. The AF is fast and quiet and the 14mm only has slight vignetting and barrel distortion. The center is sharp wide open; stopping down to f/4 resolves these issues. I have it paired with my EOS R5 on a DJI RS2. The weight is so clutch during a wedding?I go with the R5 and this 14mm. Using 4K crop mode (5.1K oversampled), I get a 22.4mm FOV, no overheating (23.98 and 29.97fps), and no backache from doing gimbal work for 10 hours. My only ?gripe? is that I wish it were faster (f/1.8 or even f/2.0 would?ve been nice).

The Rokinon is vague and it does not tell you that their lens will definitely not come off the camera unless you unlock its aperture ring from the A setting. The instruction manual mentions this situation, but it does not mention what the solution is, it suggests other things. I had to figure it out by trial and error. I found that feature relatively useless for accurate focusing since it shows in-focus for such a broad range on the distance scale. That is, once focus is acquired you can keep turning the focus ring and it continues to display in-focus for quite some time before eventually indicating out of focus. IMO the best reason for getting the chipped version with my camera is that it automatically displays the Rokinon lens data in the camera EXIF information without having to set up a custom lens in the camera's settings.3 - Using test images and not the focus confirmation feature, the actual focus point changes depending on which direction the focus ring is being turned. Turning the ring from the infinity end produces a different focus point on the distance scale than turning the ring from the minimum distance end.4 - I tested the lens at f2.8 with my camera on a tripod and found the lower left quadrant of the horizontal frame to be somewhat softer than the right side. Apparently this particular lens suffers from the decentering issue known to be present in some builds.5 - I suspect the reputation this lens has for sharpness is largely based on images meant to be viewed on-screen, on the web, or on small prints. I didn't think the overall image quality was good enough to produce large prints sharp enough to be viewed up close. Perhaps I'm just used to using quality Nikon glass, but despite its reputation for sharp images I found this lens to be softer than expected.

I purchased this lens for astrophotography. It works very well with my Z5. I'm a fairly new photographer, especially with mirror less cameras, so using manual focus has been a bit of a challenge. This lens has been easy for me to learn on. I was able to take a nice photo in my backyard and see stars that were hidden due to light pollution. I used a tripod, opened the aperture and set the shutter to 15 seconds. Will be taking a trip to Shenandoah national park soon and hope to get a nice photo of the milky way. I highly recommend this lens.

Especially with such a price difference. Well I'm very happy with its performance. The only drawback is the manual focus is rather long to get from shallow to long distance. I should have spent the extra 200 to get the auto focus. All my other lenses are EF L SERIES CANONS, I will be venturing out to see what other lenses have to offer. There are a lot of complaints regarding the inconsistent sharpness of this lens ( from lens to lens ) so I was fully prepared to exchange it. My copy seems perfect. Honestly, though...for $400 I'm not complaining- Vignetting at f/2.8 is pretty significant but is gone at f/8- Considerable distortion that the current Lr lens profile doesn't do a great job of correcting**Lens flare at f/11 was my fault :P
This lens was purchased for ultra-wide landscape and astrophotography and it seems to be super sharp in the center mid area very close to the margins except corners witch can be quite soft at f2.8. but they get decent sharp at f4 and up. Overall the build quality is very good, the lens is quite heavy and the focus is very smooth. I purchased this lens used back in 2016 for my Nikon D5200 (its 21mm on a crop sensor camera). I can't believe I can't believe how much time has gone by.. I primarily use this for milky way and nightscape photography. The 1st time I took it out I was amazed at the results from light polluted Houston. I thought there was no way I'd capture the milky way from my backyard. Lo and behold there it was. The darkest skies I've been able to use this in as Bortle 4. Any time I go out at night this lens is definitely in my bag and 1st one on the camera. I'll attach some photos please forgive my lack of editing skills. If you're looking for a cost effective lens that won't break the bank I would definitely get one of these.Shot at F2.8 25 sec, and if memory serves iso 3200
