The Rokinon 14mm T3.1 Cine ED AS IF UMC Lens or Sony E Mount was developed primarily for film and video applications. The cine version of Rokinon's 14mm lens features industry-standard gearing for the focus and aperture ring, and the aperture ring has been de-clicked for smooth iris pulls. The aperture and focus scales have also been relocated to the side of the lens, where it is easier for focus pullers to read them. This lens is compatible with full-frame sensors and can also be used on APS-C-sized sensors, where the 35mm-equivalent focal length will be 22.4mm. The optical construction incorporates three high refractive index elements, two extra-low dispersion elements, one hybrid aspherical elements, and one aspherical element to reduce chromatic aberration and distortion to produce sharper imagery. Additionally, a UMC coating has been applied to lens elements to minimize lens flare and ghosting for more contrast-rich images.

I have this lens for about a month and have been using it on an APSC sensor for my latest short film. The build is solid with just a few small peccadillos: aperture ring will change so you have to double check it before shooting but it will stay where you leave it while rolling, I really wish I could put a filter on it somehow to protect the front element, & you will get bowing of course but I actually find it much more natural - nothing like a go pro. Good things: no noticeable vignetting, smooth & wide focus throw, beautifully sharp with very good DOF at f/2.8 (T3.1) when focused close to talent, awesomely low minimum focus distance. What I love most about this lens is that when you're focused close to talent and stopped all the way down you get great background ... MoreI have this lens for about a month and have been using it on an APSC sensor for my latest short film. I love this lens and it's a perfect wide angle for APSC!

Haven't seen too many reviews of this lens and the ones out there don't really do it justice IMO. Traded some old Nikon glass at Samy's Camera in LA for this on a whim and wow am I impressed. Using it on both an a6300 and a7rII and both the sharpness and color rendition far exceed even my wildest expectations. A few nits: sometimes full infinity focus isn't quite the lock you want when shooting landscape, best to pay attention to the focus peaking if your camera or monitor have it. Also annoying that the geared focus ring is so close to the actual glass. When shooting in full frame mode with a Zacuto follow-focus, it's impossible to keep it out of the frame entirely. Almost impossible on crop mode as well on the A7RII. However, as tempted as I was to drop a star ... MoreHaven't seen too many reviews of this lens and the ones out there don't really do it justice IMO. Major major value with this lens, highly recommended!

Great build, solid feel, heavy. You aren't going to find something on brand that is in this price level with this quality. Remember it is manual. The focus throw is very long, it's a cine lens after all. It gives you much more control over the focus.

I purchased literally all Rokinon Cine DS lenses at once. And all except the 35mm are great. The 35mm will not focus. The ring is stock. BH is sending me out a new one. I was hesitant to order the Rokinon brand because Im a Zeiss guy. But after using them I am extremely impressed with their quality. Sharpness is very good. If have had purchased zeiss Milvus or classic lenses instead I would have paid about $11,000.00 but All the rokinon cine DS were about $3500
Looking at cost, this lens is fantastic. With super wides, my biggest concern is how the lens handles distortion. The Rokinon handles it way better than Canon. Just my opinion. Sharpness, contrast and clarity are all fantastic. So I'd definitely recommend this lens. It's quite good. For the price, it's amazing.
I didn’t think the lens would be as sharp as it is. But in fact this lens produces wonderful color and sharpness. Most bought it for astrophotrography and time lapse. I actually like a fisheye for night time shots although that’s a personal preference.I chose the ef mount fisheye with a non-information transferring fotodiox ef lens to Sony e mount adaptor. Great snug fit.
I greatly regret buying this lens. What I regret more, is not fully testing its capabilities within the 30 day return window. I've used these same lenses before on the a7sii and had fantastic results. Something about the adaptation to micro four thirds ruined them in the process. You cannot get a sharp image when opened up to the widest aperture. It's very annoying to have to stop down just for a usable image! Furthermore, the picture is very wobbly and disorienting when shooting handheld. I'm not sure what causes this, but I can't get a steady image unless my shot is static. Otherwise, it looks great. But the limitations simply are not worth it.
Great lens! Had to return the first one sent due to a lens imperfection that showed up on all the vide. I probably should return the one they sent me, the focus sticks a bit, but it doesn't bother me too much. Definitely worth a grab if on sale and you need a wide angle prime lens.
I've fallen in love with the Rokinon Cine DS series. These are perfect lenses for the BMPCC 6K as they're full manual cine lenses with cine gears for follow focus systems. This lens isn't as fast as the other Cine DS T1.5 lenses but the angle of view, even cropped at 1.63 is phenomenal, but you have to drop one stop from T3.1 as they will have a chromatic shift fully opened, as a cinematographer tho you're likely shooting T4-5.6-8 depending on your lighting situation. The only drawback of this lens is the fixed hood which isn't removable. It's not a bad thing, but just a little weird if trying to use it with a matte box.
Very cinematic quality on the BMPCC6k. Flare isn't bad, contrast is good, very sharp, no distortion. Build quality is great for it's price range. Gotta love Rokinon.
