I simply explained that I had to push the back of the remote and bang it against my hand for the batteries to connect explaining how batteries really do work. They stated they would send a new remote. It took two weeks and I had an on working stream bar for that entire time and no access to any of my channels. Once the remote finally did show up I am very disappointed in the sound quality or what I paid for. I wish I would have stayed with a simple Roku player. It’s a big thumbs down for me. Roku has lost my business as well with their horrible tech and customer support. They clearly do not want loyal customers. Find anything but a Roku.

Recently bought a Toshiba Fire TV from BestBuy (have bought several other brand TVs there over the years (Samsung), this is my 1st Toshiba) and the speakers sounded HORRIBLE. Since I/we have also bought Roku's in the past/I did not like the "Fire" streaming, AND since the speakers (tv) were so bad, I saw this unit on sale ($99) at BestBuy and decided to try it. It was nothing but trouble from the start getting the TV and the Roku/Streambar to interface (Nothing on screen besides "No Input on HDMI (eArc port/any port). I eventually took/connected the Streambar to my Samsung 4K and it had no trouble with the Roku. I then updated the Roku and reconnected it to the Fire TV, and it then worked. Even after I got it working/adjusted, the sound in NOT impressive and only slightly better than the Crappy TV speakers (and Yes, I have it faced forward/positioned properly at the front edge of the TV) Not a pleasant setup/installation/3+ hours of my life. I also don't like that it does not have an ethernet connection/is wireless only. Should have bought a stand alone Roku 4K and a decent soundbar.

Fast and easy interface with great sound

After replacing the Vizio SmartCast with a Roku streaming box, I fell in love with the Roku Interfaces speed compared to even a Firestick. So much so that I replaced my Vizio with a TCL Roku TV as my main TV in the Great Room. It is connected to a built-in surround sound system with high end, built-in Bowers and Wilkins speakers powered from Pioneer ELITE receiver. The Vizio was moved to the bonus room of my house and I added this Roku Streambar to my now disdained Vizio TV as a way to provide some better sound and a simple interface. I was instantly impressed with the sound quality! The speed of the interface is awesome - you click, it works. The speech recognition is awesome ("turn off/on closed captioning" for instance is flawless. Open Hulu, P, A, S, S, W, O, R, D actually works to enter passwords!!!!)The sound was also so impressive that I then asked for the Wireless Bass Pro and a set of Roku Wireless Speakers for Christmas. Now comes the reason for explaining the very expensive surround sound system previously to really highlight how good this setup is - I prefer watching blockbuster movies on this system versus on a true 5.1 system running $2,000 Bowers and Wilkins speakers! Luckily the previous owner of the home bought them as I would now be feeling buyer's remorse. The system is VERY easy to setup, and now that you can add another set to get a true 5.1 experience, I am excited to be updating my x-mas wish list for the second set of wireless speakers :-)Top Gun: Maverick, Dr. Strange 2, Spider Man: No Way Home - that was just a couple of movies in 2022 that this system helped destroy my desire to go-to the movies for!

The only negative critique I have is the way it was shipped from Best Buy. They put the product in another box twice its size without any padding so it was rattling around, I thought to myself great it would be broken luckily it worked. Hey guys/gals not a great way to ship a device. Now for my review: Fabulous device. My other roku's wireless antenna broke and I didn't want to wait for the part. My sound bar was also broken and was debating on repair or new one because it was pricey. I went to purchase a new roku and saw it was both and thought perfect. Good Sound, Great Streaming

The Streambar is a compact device, about 14" wide and 4" deep; combining a Roku streaming player with a 4 speaker soundbar. The Soundbar has two 1.9" front facing speakers providing the main sound and two 1.9" side facing speakers which provide fill and depth to the sound. When you log on, the device will automatically scan your subscribed channels and download them, For most of my subscription services, I was also automatically logged on to my account. The other element in the Streambar is the Roku streaming device. The Roku streamer would fall between the Express 4K+ and Streaming Stick 4K+ in capability, with more robust wifi, but lacking the Dolby Atmos that the Streaming Stick includes. The Streambar can be expanded by adding a wireless subwoofer and two satellite wireless speakers. As I am using the Streambar with my bedroom television, I am happy with the Streambar without peripherals. The installer immediately downloaded the Roku 11 operating system, which is a big improvement on previous versions and with the addition of curated recommendations, puts the device on a par with Google or android streaming devices.

For the entire year I had this Streambar it was a fantastic value for the money. Powerful bass, clear acoustics, and a Roku Streaming stick all rolled into one device the size of an egg carton. Fills a small bedroom with incredible sound. All of that changed as soon as new versions of the OS came in and they did away with sound profiles like "bass boost", replacing it with worse ones like "standard", "movie", and whatever. These new profiles sound awful, almost as if they gimped the device on purpose. And to add insult to injury, the speakers started having issues with crackling and muffling, just a few months out of the warranty. Just because this device serves dual purposes doesn't mean that it excels in both.

I'm admittedly new to cord cutting but very enthusiastic about saving money, particularly when it means not throwing it wastefully at the local cable company. Roku is well known as one of the best options to get one started on the road to streaming. So far, it seems like a great service. What makes this what I would argue to be the best option for Roku buyers is the fact that this combines streaming tech with a decent soundbar. Basically all smart TVs require help in the sound department, which is why soundbars are so important. However, they generally take up more space and only do one thing. We recently cut the cable cord and were excited to find a streaming device that included speakers. We tested a friend's Roku streambar and found the sound was great (not looking for theatre-quality surround-sound, but found it very rich, with a good balance of high and low tones), the interface easy to navigate, and the visuals clear and sharp (even on a 20-year old TV). We decided to purchase this device, but quickly found that it wouldn't work for us for one reason: no other way (besides wifi) to connect the device to the internet. This is the only reason for this 3-star review. Every room in our house is its own Faraday cage (read: you can't get streaming-strength wifi signals from end of the house to the other), and so we need a streaming device with an ethernet option. Why doesn't this streambar have one? It's not as if there's no room to add a port (there's already an optical port and a USB port), and I can't imagine there isn't room for an ethernet card somewhere inside... The lack of ethernet option is really disappointing for an otherwise excellent device. I'd level-up my review if Team Roku decided to level-up the options. And for a 5-star review, they should consider taking a page from TiVo's book and add ports for peripherals like DVD players (yes, some of us still use those). If you have excellent wifi and do nothing but stream your media, I could recommend this device. Otherwise, step down to the Ultra and get a cheap soundbar from a big box store.
