A quality mid range stage piano - with great sound.

Was looking to replace my 14yr old stage piano and was mostly influenced by the quality of piano sound and a touch that was neither hard or soft.If you’re looking for a quality mid range stage piano, look no further. By admission, I’m not fussy about what I play, I just know what I like.! And this is great. It’s a little heavier than my older piano, but still very portable. If I really wanted extensive sounds, I can still use the midi options but the standards already included give me plenty to work with.

A very good full size starter piano

Last winter when I first went to PMT to buy my piano I could barely play a note, so wasn't really able to test before purchase. I compared it to offerings from other manufacturers but I tended to prefer the sound of the FP10 and bought on that basis alone.Less than a year later I still have the same piano and I'm now at ABRSM Grade 1 level. I can't see me changing instrument any time soon and I think this little one should see me to at least grade 2, if not grade 3. It's stood up well to daily practice by two people and we're beginners too, so don't exactly have the lightest touch. The biggest problem with the FP10 is it's lack of a proper pedal. The included pedal is not really up to the job as it's just on/off and doesn't support half pedalling. Other than that, the only observation I have is that the keyboard action is a little heavy, so it will take time to build up the strength in your fingers. Don't expect miracles if just starting out and take your time. After a while you get used to it.It's well worth buying the optional timber stand, as X stands don't really leave much room for your knees. One last point is that if you want to use headphones, make sure they are low impedance, less than 50 ohms ideally, otherwise you'll need a headphone amp as they won't be loud enough.Happy tinkling.

I'm a very inexperienced pianist, and wanted to have something to practice on in the evenings without waking the kids up (we also have an acoustic piano). I also wanted to try the whole world of MIDI recording and sound production. I first bought an M-Audio Keystation 88, but was surprised to find that the action really threw me off - it really does feel very different from the piano. The action on the FP-10 is so much better - feels like a piano to me. It sounds great too, especially through the built in speakers. One thing that's a bit annoying is that it's quite quiet through headphones, even with the volume maxed out, which tends to make you play louder, which may lead to wrist strain. Great value for money. Would recommend for beginner and intermediate piano practice

Headphones / alternative speakers definitely needed for sound quality as the onboard speakers are not very good, which is a shame. (When my headphones are in, playing is lovely.)The adjustable hammer action is realistic. The keys are quite loud and ‘clacky’, but I tend not to notice with my headphones on. (I’ve heard reviews about the potential for this to worsen over time; something to bear in mind. I’ve had it for a few months - so far so good.)As somebody returning to practice after 10+ years, it’s everything I need for now. I do appreciate the difference between various acoustic and digital pianos, but that doesn’t stop me getting real joy out of playing this particular instrument.I only use this purely for piano practice so can’t account for its stage / ... MoreHeadphones / alternative speakers definitely needed for sound quality as the onboard speakers are not very good, which is a shame. Impressive budget piano

The action is very good and the feel of the keys is also excellent. In the lower register the sound is very full and resonant. I think the quality of the sound is a little shrill on the higher notes and in particular seems thin and loses quality at the very top of the register. Overall the build quality is of a very high standard. At this price I am very pleased with my purchase.

If, like me, you're not a complete beginner to the piano, but looking for a digital piano to try and get back into playing, then I can heartily recommend this piano. I'm really happy with it, and am glad I chose it over sub-£400 pianos. It's very hefty and chunky (which is a plus IMO) with a very weighty keyboard. Others have already commented on it, but you don't need to worry about whether this has a firm keyboard action, because it definitely does. The piano sounds are probably 7/10; can't say they're the best, but it's a sub-£400 product so we can't have everything. Also a bit of a faff that you can only access the extra features via Bluetooth and the app... but again, that's how they've saved money and made it affordable. But all-in-all, very happy and have ... MoreIf, like me, you're not a complete beginner to the piano, but looking for a digital piano to try and get back into playing, then I can heartily recommend this piano. It takes a bit to get used to the shortcuts on the keyboard its self but once you have that in place it's a joy and easy to to make the most of the full flexibility of the instrument.I'd prefer a slider for the volume but it's not all that bad and for the price it's wonderful. The real showstopper is the keyboard action which is miles ahead the yamaha and casio competition (even the competitions higher price point instruments don't compare well IMO)the sounds are good and it's good to have the opportunity to remove the "ambience" from the sounds which makes them far more natural and real feeling because there is no weird reverb being added to your room sound.I would have liked the app to be better. at least on my iPhone it leaves a lot to be desired. I also haven't tried out any of the "learn the piano" stuff so maybe it's wonderful but not of any interest to me.It feels solid, realistic and sounds natural. It also looks smart and is compact and simple in it's design (which is assisted by having the speakers on the bottom). All in all I'm really happy.
