One of the best all-round synths I have ever used including elements spanning the whole Roland era. Still getting my head around the huge range of options, but it is an extremely versatile instrument.

As soon as you start playing this keyboard you just start to smile - and the intelligent arpegiator is the icing on the cake...

I confess I couldn’t resist buying this synth. I used to own one back in the early eighties and one of my great regrets was eventually selling it to buy a reverb for goodness sakes! I have tried and even owned some of Roland’s earlier attempts at a ‘new’ Jupiter since then, but always felt these previous models fell short. The System 8 was too ‘plastic & green’, the boutique just too darn small, the 80 too much menu diving etc etc. Not so the ‘X’ this one hits the spot. It may not be analogue, but it looks, feels and programmes, and more importantly, sounds much like the mighty Jupe of old. And thanks to it’s onboard repertoire of legacy Roland models, adds a stack of Roland synths to my studio. I’m happy now....an ancient wrong has finally been righted. Go try it!

This is a synth that is totally at the top of its game. If you want analogue modelling then this has got it, if you want a synth with all the 'bread and butter' sounds that you need for live performance then this has that too.On top of that, it looks gorgeous and really is the closest you'll get to owning a modern Jupiter 8 flagship synth and don't forget the additional models of the Juno 106, JX-8P, SH101. Add to that the JV5080 sound set and the Zenology Pro sound set. You can, of course, add additional models and sound packs from the Roland Cloud.I actually believe that, for me at least, this is *the* synth that I will own and use constantly for the rest of my life...
Must be connected to decent headphones or sound system to appreciate the power of this! Key bed has a nice feel for some fluid playing. Thought the iarpeggio was a gimmick but it serves as a seed for some new material it's even moved me into different chord progressions! 32 note polyphonic Jupiter 8, Juno 106, SH101 or JX8P is fantastic. I like my synths precise and clean but the temperature drift option is nice with some lovely detuning. The R M and S filters are also great and is easy to see why they are the chosen ones ;-). The FX are also top quality with plenty to play with. It's going to take some time to work through the menus but I know there is a lot more in there. Negative points? Well I think the only thing I have found so far is having the screen so far ... MoreMust be connected to decent headphones or sound system to appreciate the power of this! Well I think the only thing I have found so far is having the screen so far on the left and it is small for the amount of info in it and the LED under the wheels is in the perfect place to keep blinding me when I am sat at it. I much prefer this over the Xm but if you do not have the room or the funds the Xm is a good compromise. Compared to my other big synths I would say this is good value for money. :-)
Very impressed with this synth , been a dream to own a board like this as always wanted a Jupiter 8 .The keyboard has an excellent action and it is now also my master keyboard .All the sounds I have always wanted are already in this keyboard as it has the Juno , Jupiter , JX , XV and SH101 model banks built in .Took a while to get used to always working on scenes but once used to it , it works perfectly and is particularly DAW friendly in that respect .Would highly recommend this synth to anyone
Just a quality keyboard ! The sounds are awesome, I owned an original Juno in the 80s and this just brings back all the memories! It’s look is of a Jupiter 8 and who wouldn’t want one of those in your studio!Best thing is with 4 parts and a rhythm section you can have 4 Jupiter 8’s layered on top of each other.Add in the intelligent arpreggio and a step sequencer and the skys the limit. If you like your vintage Roland gear then this is definitely for you.We collected from PMT Liverpool and the service on the front desk was impeccable!I will definitely buy again from PMT!
This synth sounds AMAZING. The Keybed is fantastic, the build is nice although I wish the knobs where metal. I’m still not completely sure about the I-arpeggio ,but I’m starting to see the potential now Ive started programming it. The UI is a bit convoluted & to get deep you need to menu dive, but when you do this thing creates the most beautiful sounds. Having a Jupiter 8, Juno 106, JD800, SH101 + the XV5080 soundest as a palate to create monster patches by layering sounds is phenomenal. It’s easy to get something special from this synth without diving deep, but if you do whooooaaaah! It’s become my go to synth and pretty much made everything else redundant (except from my Grandmother). Oh yeah it has TR808, 909, 707 drums too. Amazing!
Fantastic build quality and all the glorious sounds you would expect from Roland. All of the vintage model sounds are easy to access and then tweak as you wish. It will take some time to get to the deeper features, such as programming the arpeggio, but Scenes (sound combos) are great and easy to set-up. The vocoder is also excellent and very useable.
Very well made quite surprised and the sound is fabulous although I have never tried the original after many buys this is without doubt the synth I have been looking for but have not hooked up to the website? But will soon be!
