The Roland PDX-6 (simply called "V-Pad" here, which is a little misleading) is a good starter pad for someone getting into mesh head drums. The triggering works great when plugged into my TD-8 module, and the rim functions perfectly. Getting the rim sensitivity was a little tricky at first, but that's a whole other unrelated story. Speaking of the rim, you might find yourself smacking the rim or doing rimshots a great deal at first, because the mesh head itself is only 6.5" in diameter and the 8" rim feels a little high for that. I am currently using a Roland V-Drum Kit, and I love it. It came with this type of head. It works great and serves its purpose, however I would still suggest that you purchase the Roland Dual-Trigger Mesh V-Pad, if money is not a problem; but this product will serve you just as well, and costs a fraction of the price.

This drum pad is great for any kit. I use it for my SD7K from SIMMONS as a snare and I love it. It's great for rolls, triplets, etc. The bounce is so great and it's really responsive. I recommend this for everyone beginner or expert. I've been playing for about a year and a half and am disappointed I didn't buy this sooner! Great value!

We bought this to add to our church's Roland TD-30K set for some additional accent sounds. Mounting it was a breeze, hooking it up was simple, and both triggers work flawlessly.
The Roland mesh pads performs well. Upgraded from the rubber pads and it feels much better.
My first impressions of the Roland positive. I like the sound. It can sound pretty close to acoustic drums but they sound like really good electric drums LOL. The td4 sounds good. I can't wait to upgrade from this set one day. It seems to be reliable and durable and the frame is very durable. I don't like how they used plastic brackets to Bolt Tom's and stuff together to the frame. In today's modern world I would think they would be more responsive but they are fine and good enough. I recommend this product.
I like this little pad. I needed something compact to mount on the stand with a Roland SPD-30, and this little guy is small enough to set up near the SPD-30. I wish they'd used a full mesh head and gotten rid of the plastic that's just inside the rim. But other than that, this pad works nicely as an accessory.
I replaced my older Roland Pad-8 hard rubber pads to reduce the impact on my wrists. The feel and rebound are excellent and they were easy to reconfigure to my older TD-6V module. They do present a slightly louder response on the outer edge of the mesh pad directly above the pickup but the response in the center is even and balanced.
The Roland V-Pad is a great drum pad! Players of any level will appreciate the way the V-Pad reacts to every drum stroke. The product is extremely durable and will not break. It even has adjustments to change the tension on the pad, ensuring it will never get too loose feeling. This pad came with my Roland TD-4 kit as the snare. It works excellent, allowing me to do tricky rolls that would not be possible with a rubber head. The mesh makes such a difference! Also, the rim trigger on the pad works perfectly how its supposed to! This pad can take a beating!
I purchased one PDX-6 V-Pad to add a fourth tom to my Roland TD-9K kit. After playing with the PDX-6 pad, I quickly realized that it was so responsive and with a feel like a traditional drum head, that I no longer enjoyed playing on the rubber PD-8 tom pads that came with the TD-9K. So I purchased two more PDX-6 pads and I am very happy with them. I'm drumming more now, because the mesh heads are a pleasure to play, and I think my playing has improved. I was originally worried that the smaller playing surface of the PDX-6, which is about 1" less in diameter than the PD-8, would be a problem, but it's not an issue for me.
