I love the iRobot vacuum part only it does my whole house with no issues, but I'm not that thrilled with the mopping job this I irobot did. If you have hard wood floors that aren't completely smooth/even like in my old house it doesn't do a good mop job. Now in my bathroom floor that is linoleum, it did a good job doing the mop part, it just didn't really clean my living room floor because it is hardwood floor and it's not a completely flat smooth surface. You also have to make sure your wetting the pad before you start the vacuum+mop, which isn't a big deal but an extra step, I wasn't expecting to have to do. This is supposed to be pet friendly but with the mopping you can only add cold/warm water no cleaning solutions , which is a big down fall for me because I ... I was hoping this would help and the mopping feature isn't up to my standards for the living room, now in the rest of the house where my dogs aren't typically at it works just fine and mops pretty good but for the price these things cost I would want it to be able to not just vacuum the hold house with no problems but also do the mop function on the floors that don't have carpet with no problems but since it doesn't really do a good mop job on my living room maybe if I didn't have pets it wouldn't be as bad but it's a big down fall for me with dogs especially since the living room is where the dogs are at 90% of the time. I do wish the vacuum had two set of the arm brushes that help get the dirt and in my case do fur to get sucked up. Over all it's a good vacuum and an okay mop. The battery seems to last a while it's able to vacuum my living room, kitchen, bathroom and hall all on one charge. I would recommend this to people who would want an iRobot to help the vacuum and mop but only if they have a completely smooth flat surface with no bumps in between their hardwood floors planks.

iRobot Roomba Vac Essential Robot Vacuum (Q0120) - BlackThe first impression of the Q0120 is that it is smaller with less height than many other robot vacuums. It still covers a 7” swath with each pass, but it gets under virtually any furniture that’s on legs. It does a very good job of cleaning as well; comparable to two other larger scanning robot vacuums we have for other parts of the house. Our experience is that it is a no-fuss device. As soon as it leaves the charging station, it pivots and heads out in a straight line avoiding any obstacles in its path while picking up its interrupted straight line of cleaning on the other side of the obstacle. It continues in this pattern until it either needs recharging (up to 120 minutes depending upon the surface it’s working) or the job is done – in either event it simply heads back to the charging station where it will stay if the job’s done or it will take off again if more remains to be done.If you use the smart phone app, it can be set to clean while you’re away, set up a cleaning schedule etc. and will even provide a map of the area it cleaned so you can look at it later to see what was done. Just note that the Q0120 Roomba Vac Essential requires a 2.4Ghz Wi-Fi network if you plan to use the phone app. We have a 5Ghz Wi-Fi network only so I wasn’t able to use the phone app, but for me that wasn’t an issue since I like the simplicity of tapping the button to send the Q0120 on its cleaning job, or if you feel it’s done the job but it keeps working, you can tap the home button and it will return to the charger where it will stay until you need it again. I really like the simplicity of this instead of using a phone app.The Q0120 will run at different power levels depending on the surface/cleaning job at hand. You can hear it running, but it’s not a distraction. We use it in a master bedroom that adjoins a master bathroom and master closet. It has not gotten stuck anywhere and travels under a dressing table, two leather chairs and a king bed plus navigating around shoes and boxes of such in the closet. It has a large dust bin which we’ve not had to empty yet after two complete cleanings of the above mentioned on suite.Overall, we are very pleased with our new Roomba Vac Essential Q0120. It does as good a job as larger robot vacuums we have yet it is easy to use and definitely gets under furniture the other ones will get hung up on trying to go under them. Simple to use so we are very pleased!

You can set a cleaning schedule and a do not disturb period. This Roomba comes with a side cleaning brush and roller, both of which are removable and easy to clean. The bin has a removable cleaning and razor tool that makes it simple to clean out hair, string, and similar items that tend to wrap themselves around the roller, a welcome addition. The bin itself is larger than my older Roombas or my two Shark robots (don’t judge me on this collection), but it is necessarily small, as with any robot vacuum. The Vac Essential works very well on hard floors. The main floor on my house is hardwood, and it did an admirable job of picking up dirt, hair, dust, and detritus. Its multiple tip/fall sensors meant it did not get stuck at the top of the steps. It also was fine on carpeted areas, but on both floors and carpets there were some places along walls and furniture where things were missed. From watching the Vac Essential, it appears that this is likely just a function of how this model traces a path through the room (more below). Where it struggled was in transitions from hardwood floors to thicker rugs. It would frequently have trouble getting on the rug, although unlike some robot vacs, it did not get stuck, instead giving up and turning sideways. What you need to consider with this, or any lower-end unit, is how you want to use it. By definition, with a more entry-level unit you are giving up some of the more advanced features that a more expensive robot vacuum offers. There is no self-emptying feature, so you need to clean out the bin manually, probably after every use (and, yes, the dust from this will get on your clothes frequently). There is no floor mapping, so you cannot send it to clean a specific room. Because it has no room map, it uses sensors to find its way, which means that it tends to bounce off walls and long, low furniture pieces rather than clean along their edges. Because it has no map, it doesn’t know where it is at any time, meaning finding its base can take some time as it looks for the homing signal. If the battery needs to recharge while cleaning, when it starts up again it will not remember what it has already covered, so it will start over (this could be a significant issue if you have a large area on a single floor to clean). If you can live with these issues and you’re looking for a simple, relatively low-cost robot vacuum that does a good job cleaning, the Vac Essential is an excellent choice.

The Roomba Vac Essential is iRobot’s no-frills, budget-friendly, entry-level robot vacuum. It’ll perform all the perfunctory duties you'd expect including running on a schedule, remote start and stop via the iRobot app, home automation integration, and returning to the base station automatically to charge. However, don’t expect more advanced capabilities like room mapping, obstacle avoidance, or self-emptying.The robot has a 12.5” diameter and is 3.25” tall with a matte black finish, front and side bumpers, side sweeping brush, and 3 cliff/fall sensors. However, don’t expect more advanced capabilities like room mapping, obstacle avoidance, or self-emptying.The robot has a 12.5” diameter and is 3.25” tall with a matte black finish, front and side bumpers, side sweeping brush, and 3 cliff/fall sensors. There are two spring-loaded, large driving wheels on the bottom that allow it to traverse uneven surfaces with ease, a 360° front wheel for executing tight turns, and central roller brush for picking up dust and debris. Both the side brush and roller brush are removable for cleaning or replacement, and the battery can also be removed for replacement or disposal. This robot is designed primarily for cleaning hard floors, as the base station needs to be placed on a hard surface with 1.5 ft of clearance to the sides and 4ft of clearance in front and away from stairs. I appreciated the inclusion of a Velcro cable organizing strap on the back of the dock. The 0.1 gallon dust bin has a small capacity that generally needs to be emptied manually after each run. A cleaning brush and hair tangle razor is conveniently stored on top of the bin to help you clean and maintain the machine. The bin releases from the back of the robot with the press of a button and has a one-way dust flap over the intake to prevent accidental spilling of its contents. The hinged top opens easily for emptying, and it can be handwashed, if needed. There’s also a washable and replaceable HEPA filter in the lid that cleans the air as it exhausts from the machine and a spare filter is included. I find that the vacuum does a good job picking up fine dust and debris and captures a fair amount even after I’ve already cleaned with my upright vacuum. The robot runs back and forth in parallel rows, which I prefer over the “random” path method. There’s also a spot cleaning function to clean a 4 ft diameter circle wherever you place the robot down. The robot is supposed to be able to detect and avoid furniture, though that said, it will still bump your walls and furniture when it first encounters them; once it knows their locations, it will slow down as it approaches any area where it previously made contact with something. A rubber strip at the bottom of the bumper helps cushion the impact, but this can leave black marks on your walls and floor trim. I would have liked to have seen an additional bumper along the top to better protect the glossy plastic over the sensors, as I know from experience that if it picks up enough scratches over time from collisions, they may reduce the effectiveness of the sensors. The main drawback to the simplicity of its functionality is that you cannot control where it travels to clean. It also has no memory of where it has already been, so if the unit returns to the station to recharge before it finishes cleaning all the areas it has access to, on the next run it will not pickup where it left off; it will simply start over again from the beginning. For me, the robot ran for 1 hour and 15 minutes on high suction on our first floor before returning to the station. The robot successfully avoided falling down steps and crossed ¼” high floor transitions between rooms just fine. It was also able to navigate up onto a ½” thick mat, and the short height allowed it to go under and clean right up to the toe-kick of our cabinetry. However, the clearance under our dishwasher is a bit lower due to uneven floors, and it ended up rubbing the underside of the steel door and picking up some scratches on top of the unit. It also has a tendency to push around or knock over lightweight items that sit on the floor. Unfortunately, there is no way to prevent the robot from entering an area other than physically blocking its access or path, for example, to prevent it from going near a fireplace or pushing pet food and water bowls.I found that when it went over several power cords, it was able to cross them without getting stuck or tangled, though this may not always be the case. It did get stuck once under a rocking recliner and trapped under the kitchen table in between chair legs and had to be rescued; it sent a notification to the app when this happened. If you cannot locate the robot, you can activate an audible tone from the app that plays for a few seconds to help you find it, provided it has some battery life left and WiFi signal. In the app you have the option to change a couple settings, mainly suction power from low, medium, and high, which may save or consume more battery power respectively, and setting it to clean without a time limit or a timed session of 15, 30, or 45 minutes. You can also schedule regular cleanings to start at a specific time on recurring days of the week or automate it to do so when you leave and/or return home using triggers such as GPS location, smart lock activity, or events detected by other smart IoT devices. You'll have the option of setting up smart home AI control using Alexa or Google assistants, and those worked just fine for starting and stopping cleaning using voice commands. When cleaning is paused, the job will automatically be cancelled if it is not restarted within 1 hr and 30 mins. The app will keep track of data from the 30 most recent cleaning events within the last 90 days, and keeps a count of lifetime number of cleaning jobs, total runtime, and “dirt events” (when it senses an area/areas that may have a lot of debris).Overall, I found this robot vacuum to be a very basic but effective robot vacuum that can automate regular cleaning of the floors. It can be remotely controlled, integrated into a smart home ecosystem, and effectively picks up a good amount of dirt and debris. It’ll work best for folks that have hard flooring, a lot of open space that is free of obstacles like cords and delicate or lightweight décor, and a small enough area that it can be covered in a single cleaning session. Just remember you’ll need to regularly empty its bin manually and physically block it from going anywhere you don’t want it to.
Testing out the iRobot Roomba Vac Essential Robot (Q0120) was entertaining. We did name ours, which was a fun thing. The app will allow the user to operate this Roomba via commands to Google Assistant, Alexa, or Siri; an additional setup was required. I think you could rate this device a couple of different ways, and like the connectivity, I would want the end-user to understand what they are buying and make sure it is a good fit for their domicile. This Roomba Q0120 is a good, not excellent, fit for our home. But we will come back to the negative. The positive is that the unit works well, is crafted extremely well, and will methodically clean any area into which it can get. The product had advanced sensors that allow the unit to effortlessly maneuver around furniture and avoid falling from the likes of stairs. The compact size is an innovative way to lessen the likelihood of getting wedged under furniture while producing the chance that the Roomba will be able to get under most average-height-sized furniture. The Roomba boasts a long battery life and will return home to charge. The packaging said the Roomba would run for approximately 120 minutes on a single charge. This length of time is altered by the ability to choose between three different suction speeds. Low, which is also the quietest and best, in my opinion, on tile & wood floors that do not require anything more than maintenance cleaning. Medium which is the best mix of power to suction ratio and will give the unit about an hour and a half of operating time. Then lastly, high, which is the best vacuum performance but at the cost of noise level and battery life. Any one of the three will fill the debris pan located underneath the unit. The pan comes with a conveniently stowed hook with a blade tool to help combat the hair and string build-up that is around the brush. The unit will clean in an organized back and forth until it finds an obstacle, and then it circles back and forth until it runs out of juice. However, if you need attention paid to one spot in particular, you can place the unit directly in that spot, and it will provide a controlled cleaning of only that area. Now, the negative: I struggle with how to rate this unit since it does do a superior and excellent cleaning job. The constraints of the app and unit, though, might hold it back in some consumer's eyes, hence my comment about knowing what you are buying. The internal ad even refers to this unit as potentially a second Roomba for homes with differing areas, such as a multistory home. Stand alone as one and only unit; the best I could give would be a three-star rating. The unit will, I swear, find every cord you have on the floor and get stuck. The unit is not controllable and does not appear to have a memory of where it performed last. This device is just not meant for a house with animals that shed, and emptying the bin becomes a pain when you are constantly cleaning hair off the spindle brush. Then, finally, unless you have it on low, the unit operates at a sound level loud enough to tell what room it is in, even while watching TV with the volume set fairly high. That said, I am reviewing this unit as someone who knew what they were getting and have provided it with four stars. In conclusion, the iRobot Roomba Vac Essential Robot Vacuum (Q0120) is a wonderful addition to a modestly neat and tidy house. The vacuum offers excellent performance, a user-friendly interface, and an autonomous cleaning solution to your cleaning routine.
I have used many robot vacuums in the past 4-5 years and this one is good without being great. Its a solid 7.5/10.The package is simple enough and its ready to use in under 5 minutes. Just attach the side brush, remove the foam pad used to keep the bumper in the same place, peel off the film from the sensors area in the front, and you are off to the races. You can start using it immediately, with the buttons on the machine. But most everyone will also want to connect it to the app, which is also extremely easy, since on turning on the device seems to automatically be in pairing mode. So, on the app you just select add device, once its found the device, it will ask you to press a button on the machine, to ensure you are connecting to the right one AND that you do ... So, on the app you just select add device, once its found the device, it will ask you to press a button on the machine, to ensure you are connecting to the right one AND that you do have physical access to it (and are not randomly trying to add your neighbour's Roomba). It asks you for your Wifi password and its connected. Now you can start, stop send home and locate it from the app.The app also allows you to set schedules. You can also set the vacuum power and hence inversely how silent it is and if you want it to make a single, multiple or dynamic passes while cleaning room. Dynamic just figures out if its a big room - then just 1 pass, else 2 passes to keep the time taken consistent. Some weird stuff, I don't understand why Roomba's only have 1 side brush when some other models have 2, it just makes sense that it would sweep in from both edges, but guess they've made their decision. Also, the sweeper brush underneath WILL get hair entangled, I have used these types of brushes before with soft bristles, and they always are full of hair and you have to cut those off atleast once in a couple of weeks or maybe longer depending on your household. These are not the rubberized brushes, that barely get any entanglement - but also don't brush as well. The dust collector seems big enough, I have only had to empty it once in about 3 runs. And there is an extra filter in the package once we do need to change it.Apart from this, as I mentioned there is nothing extraordinary about it - the app doesn't have options to control it and move it in different directions if you want, or force it to sweep just the edges of the room or a spot ( you can clean a specific spot but by using the physical button). If you are in the market for an entry level robo vacuum, this will serve the purpose.
The iRobot Roomba Vac Essential Robot Vacuum (Q0120) in black is a robotic vacuum priced at the lower to mid entry point that does an okay job with no frills. While I gave it 4 stars, I think that 3.5 is more like it. I requested this type of vacuum with my office in mind. I am a one woman-CPA that has heavier usage of their office during tax season, that we just ended, thankfully, with round one on April 15th. I am also the person that must clean the office and clearly, I would prefer something that is automated and do this chore without me actively involved, if possible. The whole package contains the unit itself, a power cord that connects the base to your electric wall outlet, which is a good length, the simple charging base, one edge-sweeping brush, that must ... Just to note, you can go on their website to buy OEM replacement accessories in various bundle configurations. So, this newer iRobot Roomba. like I said, is a lower-priced, entry into the robotic vacuum market and the buyer needs to temper their expectations on what the vacuum can achieve. While there are models that do mop and release their debris into the docking station, this model does not mop nor discharge the debris, which might be preferrable if one has carpet and hard type floors that require both vacuuming, as well as mopping. As you will see in the pictures that I uploaded to the website, the carpeting in my office has the pile-type of indoor-outdoor carpet, very low to the ground and easy to negotiate by the wheels of the robotic vacuum. This robotic vacuum has a very simple docking station with no frills. There is a Velcro band that you cand fold the electric cord up within to keep it out of the way of the unit when it is in actively vacuuming. What did I have to do to get started? First plug in the docking station and then line up the metal contact on the unit to "wake" it up. There will be a sound produced letting you know that was achieved and then it will start going. I have an android smartphone and there is an iRobot Home app in both the Google Play store and Apple. The download, installation, and connection to my device was very easy and took only a few minutes to do. This app requires that you use a 2.4 vs. 5.0 GHz network. There is a 1-year limited warranty and the warranty states that if you cannot verify your delivery date it starts within 2 weeks from the date of purchase. So, what are my impressions on its performance? This robotic vacuum does bump into furniture and chair legs that are in the room and does not sense those items and automatically navigate around them like the higher-priced robotic vacuums do, I have one of those, too. In my case, there was no damage to either the furniture or the unit because it does not ram into it, but gently bounces awayfrom whatever it touches. The next thing that I notice is its quality of vacuuming. My office carpet was dirty, and I do have a small dog that comes to work with me that while they do not shed, does have some hairs on the carpet. Thank goodness it made many passes over the floor because it took a while to get up the dirt. One thing that you must realize is that you an adjust the strength of the suction through the app-the factory setting is mid and I raised it to the highest for my purposes. Now that I have this robotic vacuum, I can vacuum more frequently and not have as much to dirt to pick up on a regular basis. The last thing that I wanted to mention was that there is a wedge incline that transitions the height of my floors from front to back of office. The device was trying to climb up the edge but could not quite make it up by itself. I am going to work on that feature because it would be helpful if it could do that on its own. However, it did not go off the exposed end of the wedge, like a stair would be and it did travel over the edge to return itself at the docking station that was situated on the lower-level floor. I was impressed with the length of the charge so that it can vacuum for quite a while. You can use the app to map out jobs for the specific areas that you want done at a time.Overall, I would recommend this device having full knowledge on what its good, bad, and not that ugly are. Ultimately, you do get what you pay for.
As I already have a robot vacuum cleaner from a competitor, I was really looking forward to seeing what the iRobot Roomba Vac Essential Robot Vacuum brought to the table. Unfortunately, I found myself underwhelmed. To begin, this vacuum is at a very reasonable price point and if you are looking for something that vacuums automatically without any "extra" features (bells and whistles), this is not a bad option. I was using this vacuum on a carpeted floor and have pets. It picked up a lot of hair that my hand-held vacuum cleaner apparently missed, so that is definitely one for the plus column. Beyond that, however, there are some significant limitations.First, the setup was relatively simple, although you are required to interface through the iRobot smartphone app ... I was using this vacuum on a carpeted floor and have pets. It picked up a lot of hair that my hand-held vacuum cleaner apparently missed, so that is definitely one for the plus column. Beyond that, however, there are some significant limitations.First, the setup was relatively simple, although you are required to interface through the iRobot smartphone app (and, as a result, have an account with them as well). The base station for the vacuum is there for charging only. It does not conduct any other features (such as emptying the dust bin). This base station is also small, which led to the first issue I experienced. As the base station is placed in one of my rooms that is carpeted, when the robot goes to dock with the base station, the contacts do not always connect appropriately between the base station and the robot. Thus, I have had more than one occasion where I wanted the vacuum to start cleaning, only to be told the battery is too low (even though it was sitting on the base station for a couple days). I then had to manually maneuver the robot around on the base station to ensure it was indeed charging.Another issue is that the dust bin is rather small. When the robot is vacuuming my upstairs rooms, the bin is packed once it is finished, which makes me wonder how well it was picking up debris toward the end of its tour. When it vacuums, I do not believe there is any assurance that the area it cleaned is indeed free of debris. Rather, the vacuum just follows a simple forward-and-back pattern when doing its thing. Unlike other vacuums, it does not map out the space ahead of time and it appears to miss areas as a result. I also had an instance where it wedged itself under a dresser and eventually ran out of battery. I had to physically return the unit to its base station, but there is no option to resume cleaning. The robot would simply start over from scratch, cleaning areas it already cleaned before finally traversing to uncleaned areas. As far as I know, this robot does not have any "pet mess" avoidance built in, so I am hesitant to schedule it for automatic cleaning because, if it were to encounter a pet mess, I suspect it would do more harm than good. So, the bottom line is this. If you are looking for a simple, no frills automatic vacuum cleaner within this price range, this is not a bad option, but larger houses with more rooms may find this vacuum lacking given its small dust bin and lack of advanced programming to adequately handle larger areas with multiple rooms and areas in which it can get stuck. Spending a little more for a more robust unit with advanced features may prove to be worthwhile in many use cases.
THIS… is the iRobot Vac essentials and my third iRobot vacuum to match my s9+ and m5 mopping duo that I have been looking to start phasing out of my house as they are starting to show their age and admittedly, the s9 took a trip down the stairs and never came back! My s9+ was awesome, but my m5 is still the best mop in the house - and even though it doesn’t vacuum the app lets me run my vacuum and then the mop in a 1-2 conjunction through in-app software which is always nice. Lets see how this stacks up to my growing parking lot of home vacuum and mops! This is at the entry-level of robot vacuums and with that, it only vacuums which is awesome because I wanted it for the upstairs section of my house as something that sweeps up the crumbs between manual Dyson sweeps ... Lets see how this stacks up to my growing parking lot of home vacuum and mops! This is at the entry-level of robot vacuums and with that, it only vacuums which is awesome because I wanted it for the upstairs section of my house as something that sweeps up the crumbs between manual Dyson sweeps on the weekends (or when I remember).Setup is and continues to be a strong suit for the Roomba, and I think anyone could out of the box set this up. The docking station was rather light so I was worried it would move around as the Roomba docs with it, but I never saw that issue come to fruition and it stayed in place. The app is super clean for iRobot, to the point it is almost hard to find things such as the ability to customize the suction power for the robot but with a few taps it is easily changed! This model does not come with map integration, so no go zones are not gonna be available to you, which for me is somewhat of a hassle as my furniture can be a robot death trap as are some of my rugs as well. This is a feature you will see on the higher models from iRobot so if it is something you think you will need, then stop now and move on up the lineup!I will say, I was completely underwhelmed with the performance and capabilities of the vacuum. From always seemingly needing manual intervention to the inability to pick up floor fuzz, this is truly an entry-level light-cleaning robot. I am also unable to do certain things that we see other competitors in the market have across their lineups such as edit the map, custom cleans and voiding out areas as the robot sometimes can go under furniture and get lost under it and…STAIRS! I took this to my first floor as it is hardwood, and I saw a better performance in cleaning ability. I am rather jaded by my s9+’s serious suction power, and I had assumed that the power would disseminate down the product profile by now… but I guess not just yet. It does, however, leave nice carpet lines…with fuzz left in them lol.Navigation is not a strong point for the robot, but once it gets it paths down it seems to really do a good job at optimizing the room over time, it just takes a significant amount of manual intervention the first several times. Something that was fun to watch was the force that it would bump into things with - even moving my subwoofer over a smidge. Not hard enough to hurt anything, but enough to make you look! I really wish this came with the option to upgrade to a tower to be able to vacuum out the debris that it picks up so that I do not have to empty out the container from time to time, that said it is super easy and not a hassle.I think that this is perfect for your smaller studios, hardwood floors or super simple layouts. It is super quiet, sleek, and easy to tuck away in a corner and after training it to do what it needs to do… isn't the worst. I think for a couple hundred more dollars you get a significantly better product, but that is true with everything ever! I think that while I would recommend this product, it is truly a your mileage may vary product - it is entry-level… so you should come in with the expectation that this technology also didn't exist 10 years ago. That's why shopping at BestBuy is super cool, you never have to worry about getting a bad product, Best Buy has an excellent return policy and even better customer service, so you never have to worry about buying a product that you don’t like… so why not test it out?! iRobot has a large product portfolio, and BestBuy has an even larger home robot profile…so they have something for every level of your home!
Having been a Roomba user from a few generations past in many ways they have vastly improved many things upon the old design. While these redesigns left me impressed, sadly the core feature of smart vacuuming was lost this time around.Firstly, the good. All of the complaints of previous generations are improved. This model is much lighter than before without sacraficing pick up power. A lighter weight device is always good just in case you need to move it around, which happened quite a lot, but more on that later. The dustbin is larger and easier to empty. Instead of having to empty the bin every cleaning job, I am now able to run several jobs before having the notification pop up to empty the bin. Instead of having to empty the bin every cleaning job, I am now able to run several jobs before having the notification pop up to empty the bin. I am now able to choose between low, medium, and high suction power with even the strongest setting running much quieter than my old unit. While it sometimes takes a few attempts to maneuver over tricker gaps, it no longer snags the edges of rugs or loops on end when transitioning from hard floors to carpet. No longer does the Roomba plow into walls or obstacles like a little battle bot. It's lighter more sensitive edge taps obstacles lighter than before, thus avoiding any scuffs.Unfortunately, my unit couldn't find his way back to homebase after a job well done. Several times it decided to make is home under our large sectional, other times it was in front of the closet door. And sometimes he just wandered aimlessly for over 20 minutes trying to find home. I tried moving the base to different areas as well as different rooms but to no avail. Maybe my Roomba's memory was set to "Goldfish", because after every job I had to stop it, pick it up, and return it to sleep like a child that doesn't want to go to bed. While I really like the improvements, my unit just can't be trusted to return to base, needing constant monitoring towards the end of a job thus negating the very reason to have an automated cleaning device in the first place.
