This food is great. My golden retrievers love it. What I don't love is the price going up 30% in less than one year. It feels like price gauging when Royal Canin's large breed food has remained around the same price ($20-25 less per 30-pound bag). I know there's inflation, but come on, this is exorbitant. With two goldens, I'm likely to switch them to the large breed food. The ingredients appear nearly identical. It will save me $400-500/year.

I switched to Royal Canin (from Blue) a couple of months ago at the recommendation of my Vet. So glad I did, as I have seen an incredible difference in my 8 year old Golden. Before Royal Canin, his energy level was low, coat was lackluster and eyes appeared cloudy. Cannot believe the difference in our 8 year old!! He finally plays (really plays!) with our 18 month old Golden, which she needed. His coat is soft and shiny AND his eyes look clear and healthy!!Thank you Royal Canin for such a great product!

We recently adopted a Golden Retriever. They said he had a sensitive stomach and allergic to wheat. We have had 3 Golden Retriever in the past but bought several wheat free dog food. Our vet said dogs are not allergic to wheat. She said give him Royal Canin like you have for all your other Golden's. Brought it home and he got so excited and ate the v whole bowl immediately. We used to have to doctor up the other brands which pound per pound were more expensive. We now have a happy and healthy Golden Retriever.

My golden has been on this food for over a year, I opened up a new bag and after his dinner he threw the food up within a few hours. This happened again after his breakfast the next day and following. Once the new bag of food was discontinued the sickness passed. There were no other factors that changed, just the new bag of food. I will be switching and requesting a refund; this food is very expensive. I expect better, also there is a good chance I'll be spending thousands on new carpet. The vomit picked up all the yellow dye from the food and the smell was horrendous. Vet recommend Purina Pro Plan Sensitive Stomach and I'm happy to see that brand at least has protein (i.e. salmon) as the first ingredient.
People should know second ingredient is chicken by-product. Thought I was doing right by my dog. So disappointed. Called Royal Canin and was told they only use clean part of chicken ( not parts of human consumption like breast) . Ask how can you prove that to me. She said when you call the reps explain that. Not exactly facts to me.
I have a 2 year old female pure bred Golden and this is the only food that stuck!! When we first got her at 2 months old, the breeder had her on Purina Pro Plan All Stages but then my vet recommended she go on Hillβs Science Diet Large Breed Puppy which she did ok on but after a few months she lost interest and didnβt want to eat. As she was approaching adulthood I knew I had to change her to adult food. So I tried many other brand name dog foods but she would get bored and stop eating after a week or so which was so frustrating! Finally I found Royal Canin Golden Retriever and sheβs been on it for 1+ years so far and loves it! Thank you Royal Canin for making this dog food and being breed specific. Makes my life so much easier to do auto ship instead of going to the pet store and carrying a 30 lb bag of dog food.
We are in the process of switching food on the advice of our vet to avoid a grain free formulary due more recent research that points to higher heart disease for dogs on that type of diet. Both of our dogs seem to love the new food - but as noted Kibble is HUGE. Because we are in the switching process, they get half their existing bad, and half of this food. I will say that they both seem to go after the larger food first before the smaller nuggets. I have seen a noted difference in their stool since we added this food - definitely not as firm or dense. Perhaps this is because there is more "filler" in this food OR their digestive tract is getting used to it. We've committed for this bag, but i'm not yet totally sold - especially for the price. It astonishes me that this food has such good reviews; clearly no one has actually read the ingredient label. It's nuts what clever marketing and a high price tag can do to the consumer's mind. Here are the primary ingredients:Brown Rice, Chicken By-Product Meal, Oat Groats, Brewers Rice, Wheat, Corn Gluten Meal,First ingredient here guys, is RICE! Then by product meal! EW there's a reason why every good food lists "no by products" on their bags...bc it's horrible. THen oat groats, more rice, WHEAT, corn gluten meal! So yeah, this is great food if you're feeding a goat or other grain loving animal...but my dog is a carnivore and likes meat! Not to mention this food only has 276 calories per cup, when it should have closer to 475. The food i now feed, Orijen, has ...Β MoreIt astonishes me that this food has such good reviews; clearly no one has actually read the ingredient label. And guess what? IT's CHEAPER!!! Honestly, "Pedigree" dog food and "ol Roy" have equal ingredients to this. The only difference here is people are identifying with their breed and thinking there's some sort of science involved here. No. lol obviously.
My golden Retriever turned one, and he switched from puppy royal canine to adult with no diarea and loves his food. Everyone notices his healthy beautiful flowing coat. He has grown healthy too and his grand father was a champion! It is twice the price but so worth every penny! My brothers black lab is 10 years staying over. She just loves the food as a treat eating several daily with no stomach or digestive issues more than her food so I will probably get her some in black lab. Mostly, my rescued chIn/pomeranian/ chihuahua/ mix loves the food as cookies the most! He is only 24 pds.A family of beautiful shiny coats spinning and dancing for breakfast of Royal canine. Please keep making this definitely royal premium food my dogs love.
Our lab is really picky. He either loves the food or don't and when he does, it doesn't mean he's digesting it properly. He really likes this one and have no issues digesting it properly. His breath smells nice and he has a really nice coat. I recommend it without hesitation.
