In fact after some confusion about stock levels we ended up with a Russell Hobbs 20460 Buckingham Quiet Boil 1.7L kettle. Quiet boil is well worth having as we could hardly hear each other speak with our previous kettle boiling. It's hard to see the water level through a rather opaque window, however.

Great. Was looking for a plastic free kettle. This one isn't, but almost, if you remove the filter and level measure. Boils quickly. It is a bit loud and the sides get hot as it's not double walled. But for the price it's exactly what I was looking for.

Had other Russell Hobbs kettles and they have lasted many years so I had no hesitation getting make. R H have always been reliable so I hope this one lives up to the previous standard. The old one has gone in the cupboard as any extra should I need one or an emergency standby if I should need it. Probably stay there for years collecting dust!!

We had this kettle previously and it lasted well over 6 years. We only decided to replace it as it had been ruined with lime scale, so I’m aiming to take better care of this one! So far seems good, little loud on boiling but doesn’t take too long and generally seems to work well. Hope we get at least 6 years out of this one.
This is an attractive shiny chrome kettle that boils quickly and is not to noisy and relatively cheap. The lid is a bit of a fiddle not being hinged and there is no external water guage, we can live with that!Our previous Russell Hobbs kettle lasted for many years so I expect this to have a good life in the kitchen too.
It's just what I needed for boiling small amounts of water at a time. It is a little bit tricky looking inside the kettle to see the fill lines but it's fine. The water does boil rapidly so good on energy economy, also on water economy if you use a filter jug, as you don't end up throwing pre boiled water away. Easy grip, doesn't get too heavy if you have arthritic hands, as you don't need to over fill. Great value for money.
Pros: It's Metal and hopefully will not leak like our old Morphy Richards kettle.Cons: Can't see the water level from the outside. Difficult to see the maximum level mark on the inside. Two marks should be positioned for right and left handed people respectively.
Ok, it does what it says on the box!! However, its just so very cheap and lightweight!! Not durable. I will stick with it but the experience just reminds me that you get what you pay for!!
This kettle could be so much better with just a small change, it is attractive and fits in with the other appliances we have, it is fast, it is not the quietest but that is due to the power and speed. The spout pores well and has a lime filterThe change I would make is to the lid it is very hard to remove for filling as the grip is straight and smooth.If the grip was a little con caved and or the sides could be textured for ease of removing.
If you have any kind of upper body weakness. Lid is a "pinch" top that has no grip. Drips at pour. it's rather large kettle. Only good thing I can say about it is , I like the handle. I'd not buy it again. V
