Went for this one over the SCA option as it came with the gaskets and upon visual comparison has greater surface area as well. Considering the VEs history with timing chains and only a few dollars difference, you’re better to go with the better quality filter.
I have been using Ryco oil filters for over 30 years, using them in cars, 4x4's, trucks and motorcycles. My VZ Holden Commodore has travelled just over 300,000 km and I use a R2605P oil filter with every oil change. The engine has never required any major work and this in itself is testament to good oil filtration. While not cheap, the Ryco filters are less expensive than the "genuine" filters.
I have been using this in my holden commodore 2010 for last 3 years on my regular maintenance. Very happy with my car’s smooth run though it has 268k on odometer. Must recommended.
The Ryco Oil Filter - Cartridge - R2605P is good product and good value
I have used Ryco filters on numerous engines over the years including Cummins 555's and numerous other diesels, Cleveland 351 modified, various forklifts and all my personal vehicles. These filters have never let me down and really do a great job.Yes, you can buy cheaper but why risk a $30k engine for a "saving" of a few dollars?
Replacement oil filter for my Commodore VF2 SV6. Log book servicing for this car is straight forward for an experienced DIY home mechanic. I trust it is doing its job in filtering the oil correctly. Interesting to note the new blue O-ring seal which comes with the filter looks identical to the same blue O-ring seal on genuine Holden dealer servicing oil filters. A coincidence or simply the same filter? Accessing the filter housing is easy under the bonnet by simply removing the engine cover and cleaning any dust and accumulated debris around the housing. NOTE: Maximum 25Nm (18lb/ft) tension only on filter housing when reinstalling otherwise you risk breaking it. I always lubricate O-ring with a thin smear of clean oil to help it seat smoothly as it tightens.
If you have a VE commodore SV6 this is the filter for you. I have 2008 model 3.6 it’s done 180,000 only ever had Ryco R2605p filters from day one and never had any problems at all with them .
