Unlike the previous purchaser, I won't clean it, pack it up, reseal the box and take it back to Bunnings for a refund when I've finished with it. He/she left the space between the sole plate and the base frame full of sawdust, the depth gauge scored in numerous places by overtightening of the grub screw, and pocketed the only bit that was supposed to come with it.The router seems to work well, I liked the soft start which doesn't wrench your wrists like my ancient Makita did, it has plenty of power and good plunge travel (which is lockable). It also has a speed control which I'll probably never use. It only comes with Ikea-style drawings for instructions which aren't particularly clear. ... I purchased this router to level the top of a large slab laminated workbench.The 1/4 inch collet that it comes with does not cinch down properly.The 1/2 collet did the job with a good quality Freud bit.The depth adjustment jambs and is poorly make plastic crap - its not accurate.For basic router sled leveling its OK.For finer furniture making - it is not good.I have had this router drop a 1/4 inch grooving bit halfway through a cut for a draw side and rebates a few times despite me making sure the collet was well tight between each cut.I have had it for 3 years, Bunnings can I please bring it back!Pay extra for Dewalt or Makita.

You get what you pay for. This is a cheap router and is consequently quite unreliable. The collar that holds the bit in place constantly comes loose, which will cause at least a blemish in your work and is also quite dangerous. The depth gauge is the opposite of a precision device, it is cheap cheap cheap plastic with a huge margin of error as there is travel in every part of it. The dust shroud is unbelievably cumbersome to attach and although it is clear, still hinders your view of where you are cutting.This thing will eventually get the job done, albeit to a bit of a shoddy standard.If you really want to spend bottom dollar and are ok with shoddy work and regularly fighting an infuriating tool, then maybe this thing is right for you.
I actually bought this a month ago. Eventually unboxed it to find the small collet jammed into the motor spindle. Picture instructions useless, ryobi site was not helpful, videos from Google useless. Take the collet nut off, stick 6mm drill bit into collet, tap gently sideways with hammer and the collet sprung out. Chase collet around workshop for exercise.
I bought this to use while waiting for my brand new Bosch to get fixed (collet sheared in half within two months of home use).I was pleasantly surprised with what comes in the box with the router (bag, spare brushes, straight edge).So far I have been using the Ryobi on a router sled to level wood slabs. It is light and easy to handle and thus far has worked well enough. It doesn't have much torque however and really gets bogged down if I try to cut deeper than a couple millimetres using a surface planing bit whereas the bosch (both 1600W routers) keeps cutting regardless of depth. The Ryobi also works really well with the Ryobi wet/dry vaccuum cleaner attached to prevent saw dust. All in all for the price it is a good buy and will do the job well enough. The ... As I lifted my brand new Ryobi router out of the box, the top of the router separated from the base exposing the wires and motor inside. The bottom half just hanging from whatever wires connected to the top half. I'm assuming the glue they use to join the two halves wasn't applied in the factory. Or not enough. I took it straight back to Bunnings and was offered to replace it for another one. I declined, paid the extra and got a Makita. So glad I did. If this is the level of quality control at Ryobi I just cannot trust their product line.
A very affordable plunge router with variable speed - essential for larger bits. Takes both 1/4 and 1/2 bits. The only downside is the plunge action is a bit stiff, and the depth gauge is flimsy garbage. However once you lock the height, that's a non-issue. If you don't need to do a lot of accurate plunge cutting, this router is perfect.
I'd return if it wasn't more hassle than it's worth, I live in a rural area and heading to the city is a headache for me. Straight outta the box and this thing had already broken a locking tab on the adjustable depth gauge. Beats me where it's gone, all I know is it is inside the machine somewhere, because it is still rattling around in there but won't come out. There's a spring that came out of the box but no mention of it in the parts description, not ideal. It doesn't have a lock-on setting for the power button, so no good for a router table. Also the base plate is awkward to attach to a router table. Maybe a decent tool by itself, but it hasn't worked out well for me for the purpose I wanted it for.
