This mower arrived at my place for Christmas.First time use was a bit of a concern, as I failed to follow the instruction manual, and I tried to mow (and use all the features) with a battery that was only partially charged. I got a lot of “overload” warnings and errors.Today, I mowed all of my lawn, and the mower did an EXCELLENT job! No warnings or errors.I think I have gone a bit overkill with this mower for my current lawns, as I only have a total of about 120 square metres. But, I am expecting to keep this mower for many years, and don’t know how much lawn my next place will have …Today, I used the mower on max power, and used the self-propel function for about half the lawn, and I only used about 1/2 battery capacity. My front lawn is a fairly thick/coarse buffalo (not sure what kind), and the back is Palmetto buffalo, which was around 150mm tall when I cut today. No problems getting through it all. Please note that my PROS and CONS list below is based on a comparison with the Husqvarna 4-stroke that I had for the last 10 years, and the Victa 2-strokes prior to that.PROS:- No pulling a cord to start the mower!!! Only takes a couple of seconds to start.- For me, the ergonomics are really good.- Good battery life, and the battery charges reasonably quickly.- 3 power settings is great - on my first mow, I used “Smart” mode, and this seemed to adjust power according to load very well.- 10 height adjustments is excellent, as I need 3 different heights for my lawns, and my previous mower only had 6 settings - none of which were exactly what I wanted.- The catcher is surprisingly good - catches a lot more than I expected, and the ability to remove and replace the catcher straight up/down through the handles is great.- Being able to tip the mower on its side to clean it is great.- This mower is a little lighter that my previous mowers, so is a little easier to manage.CONS:- The “isolator key” seems to come loose infrequently, but unexpectedly, which prevents the mower from starting. But, simply pushing it back in is easy.- Weight - This is only 4kg lighter than my previous Husqvarna.- I noticed that when I try to “crab-walk” the mower sideways while it is running, the blades can hit the edge of the mower base. I suspect this is due to the base being plastic, and this tends to flex a little. No major damage done, only cosmetic damage at this stage. I will modify my mowing style to suit.Overall, I am so happy with this purchase!

It was a toss-up between this unit and the one which was $100 cheaper but not self propelled, I am so happy I purchased this one. I am no spring chicken and this makes it so much easier with the variable speed setting. It does a great job on my lawns and has a good battery life. I should have had this mower ages ago. It's easy and simple to operate and seems to be more powerful than my previous mowers. I highly recommend this product.

I bought this lawn mower on Friday and I used it for the first time on Sunday Sept 4 2022.I love it. so easy to use and so easy to clean too. When i have my wireless ears buds in i can not hear the noise of the lawn mower working.I actually had fun mowing the lawn for a change.I love the self propelled function and the led system lights on the console. Also the grass catcher, so easy to remove and put back into place with ease. I love the push button height adjuster. I was able to mow the front tand the back lawn and the grass outside the property by the footpath and still had one bar of battery left.

Does a very good job and catcher fills up all the way, but ideally need both batteries for a good run time. The only thing I found was the allen screws that hold the handle on at the base tend to come loose after a few runs. Ryobi should lock tight these to prevent this from happening. Also the 2nd handle length adjusters get knocked easily if up against a fence.
I only have a small yard, so should not have bought this mower. But something drew me like a magnet to it, ease of storing your mower, and that function is great when you clean it, no more falling back when you are hoseing the underneath. I can mow my back yard only emptying the bucket once. And the self-propelled wheels are really great when you get the hang of it. the mulching action works really well, but would only do this once a month or when the garden waste bin is full. So all you people out their with small yards, pay the extra money about 100 bucks and get yourself a magic mower. IMHO.
I can honestly say I was a sceptic and was considering a 4 stroke petrol Honda self-propelled mower since last summer. But after reading a few reviews I took the plunge and don't regret it. On arrival, my best mate (whose a well known mower enthusiast) was here at the time and also did a review on it. Even he was very surprised and gave it the thumbs up. That was my first surprise. The mower with its adjustable self-propelled speed, the ease of its height adjustment and the Smart Mode function made the job of my front and back lawns almost effortless. We tested just 1x 6amp battery on full charge. After mowing front and back and using the self-propelled system mostly out front.. there were still 2 charge bars left. Total lawns mowed are a bit more than 300sqm.I am super-impressed and incredibly surprised. I have used it fully x3 times since I bought it. The mower is loud enough to know what it's doing and you can clearly hear the smart mode doing its job when it needs more power to cut (especially uneven lawn surfaces). I have never once had such a perfect cut of all my lawns since I bought my house 7 years ago.The self-propelled motion takes a few seconds to engage. Some could think that is a negative, but I kind of like that because you are well prepared for it to go. I simply start pushing at that time and it engages with such ease.Anyone on the fence considering this, I say go for it! But my advice is to spend the extra $'s for this self-propelled version (surprisingly it doesn't eat-up all the charge). It starts perfectly every time. I am incredibly happy.
Overloaded 4 times whilst cutting on one step below medium level on a lawn that was freshly cut at medium. The self propelled mode has about a 4.5second delay from pressing start to actually starting which is a pain. The drive motor does not disengage when going backwards making it had to pull. I found myself lifting the back wheels off the ground when pulling backwards. When turning corners the inner rear wheel spins as the rear axle is locked left to right. This digs up the lawn. The fastest mode is still to slow and I found myself pushing it slightly. The cutting blade also has a similar delay when activated. The load sensing mode is slow to react and not of much use. The unit is much quieter than my petrol mower which was nice. I returned the mower for a refund. ... I recommend going one step down to the non-self propelled model, it is lighter and the battery lasts considerably longer.
I was looking for a self propelled mower to reduce the strain on my back as the ones that I currently have need some pushing especially when the grass is tall or wet. So happy with this Ryobi with it's long lasting battery.Pros:Multiple speed settings to propel the mower.3 settings for the blade cutting power. Dual blade.Large wheels improving mobilityLarge grass catch basket with easy attachment and removal from mower.Second battery compartment for extra juice ( second battery needs to be purchased separately ).Folds up and can be stored in a vertical position to safe space.Cons:Battery compartment cover made of rather flimsy plastic.Takes some time to get it started after pressing on the start button. Handles should be more ergonomic as it is hard to get a good grip against resistance.
Battery and motor great but 99% plastic!I have the older 36v 5ah mower.I wanted to add a review to warn people of the bad quality. After 3 years my mower still working great. Batteries still strong.Problem is the plastic base is breaking. After each mow there is a bit more of it missing from the odd rock or bark chip smashing the base.I wouldn't purchase any of the Ryobi mowers because of this. The motor and battery will outlast the body. Not good enough.
I must say I’m disappointed with the mower as it sinks down on buffalo lawn because it’s a spongy grass, so much so that the drive wheels at times spin while the mower refuses to move relying on a lot of effort to get it moving, this mower is replacing a Honda petrol self propelled of which had no problems on the same grass & cutting at a lower level. The battery has plenty of power cutting back and front lawns leaving about 1/4 battery life left
