Good for smaller yards. I have a medium yard and when the grass gets a bit high it doesn't really have the cutting power. If it had a dual cord head would be much better (even petrol machines with single cord are lacking for slightly heavier applications). Light enough to hold onto for entire yard... 4.0 battery lasted about 20mins switching between high and low depending on thickness of grass.Only used once and thinking of upgrading to a machine with a dual cord bump head for my size yard.Overall a good unit for price.

It is light, easy to use and gives about 40 minutes usage time per charge. The single line auto advance head is excellent and easy to learn how to use. It cuts grass more effectively than my aeg 18v unit which is longer and about 50% heavier. The rotatable head makes doing edges a breeze. Great value.👍

Bought this yesterday. Charged overnight and used today. As someone who lives in the Titirangi bush, I was so impressed by this easy to use weed eater. We previously used a petrol one so a bit hesitant with electric but lasted a good few hours and chomped through grass, weeds, plants, stick, vines… everything you’ll find in the waitakere bush. Lasted longer than thought and does this job well.

I bought the whipper snipper two years ago. After 6 months the automatic feed stoped working so I was pressing the little white button on the cord feed to release the cord. Now that has stopped working. So now I have to pull the cover off where the cord goes every time I need to release some cord. Which makes the job twice as long. As a woman in her 60s it was great while it was working
Wanted to buy a decent end trimmer for the ballistic Townsville wet season when it's needed every fornight. Ihave huge regrets this was the model we chose. Didn't even last 6 months before the rpms dropped so much it barely cut a thing, and when taking it back Bunnings refused warranty claim, stating the screws had been over tightened. This is clearly a huge design flaw but Bunnings simply claimed user damage. Completely frustrated such a supposedly high end product lasted so short a time.
Got this as a Christmas present from hubby. Fired up today for the first time. Does OK job, however it ran out of line with only the front yard and part of the back done. I also got a packet of 2mm line ready to use, but... this thing takes pre-SPOOLED line???? You can't re-thread the original spool that comes with the unit. In this day, not very environmentally friendly to have more plastic rubbish! I also agree with other ladies using this tool that the battery is ridiculously hard to get out. My tiny hand will not wrap around the bulk of it.And after reading other's horror stories about smoke coming out of it, hmmm... guess it's going back to the shop.
So far have only used once. The power in this line trimmer is great but I find that the cord seems to get stuck or doesn't re-load properly, so need to look at what's happening still. Love having a battery line trimmer. So easy for me to use. Love the Ryobi system where the batteries fits all their range. Love the warranty registration on the website. great to keep it all together on one place.
We bought the Ryobi R18LTR24 Kit last week. It's had a very hard work out so far and I'm happy to say, it is FANTASTIC!A couple of other reviewers have commented on the unit's power. I haven't had an issue with it - like any power tool, you work it at a speed that suits and it will be fine. The tilting head function to get under vegetation is really handy, it was probably the least of my concerns when comparing different whipper snippers, but having had it now, I would miss it.Best of all is a line feed function that actually works — release the main trigger, let the spool slow to a complete stop and "click" just as it's about to stop spinning the line feeds out approx. 7 mm. Of course, occasionally you will hit or snag on something that does break the line and you'll need to thread it out by hand, but I'd say 90% of the time, if you pause and let it feed out regularly as you work, it works perfectly.Great value for money with the battery & charger, a very good tool.
I brought this about a month ago to replace a petrol trimmer. Went for this as only have a standard yard. Battery lasts really well and has enough to power blower after. Really disappointed in the power of the machine, struggles with any grass and I feel the motor will eventually burn out. If Ryobi read this, please put in a more powerful motor. Suggest avoiding this product and go for the larger model
I was in store only yesterday, researching more of what I gleaned from my online research.I was assisted by the sweet young man named Adam, in Singleton Bunnings. He steered me away from what I couldn’t deal with and directed me to exactly what I need to tackle the tough BUFFALO! The Ryobi 18v ONE+ kit.It all suits my height and wants in a grass/lawn trimmer … except one thing … my hands are not big enough to grab the two battery clips on either side of the HUGH battery block.PLEASE, consider, when designing for “ Little Ol’ Ladies”, that you make hand grips SMALLER than a MAN’s hand grip! Oh BOY!Marianne in Mirannie
