For years I have had a Ryobi straight shaft whipper snipper that starts first time everytime the only problem being the bump feed for the line trimmer, it’s been a real pain in the backside so I hated using it.Today I invested in a Ryobi reel easy speed winder, firstly so easy to install especially following instructions on You Tube. Once it’s Installed feeding the line trimmer is so easy and then cranking the handle is a peace of cake.I thoroughly enjoyed using my Ryobi whipper snipper once again and didn’t want to stop, can’t wait to use it again.NB Ryobi should sack the sadistic inventor of the first bump feed supplied.

This wears out so fast, you really should buy two at a time. I'm seriously considering getting a different brand of trimmer, if I can expect this poor lifespan all the time

Horrid product. Bought this item as the replacement head for my Ryobi whipper shipper as the standard unit was not available within 50km of my town and I was in the middle of a job. My whipper snipper was listed as a compatible model on the packaging.Followed the instructions and installed the head. Design is terrible.The line feeding holes barely line up, the outer cover section is very hard to remove and when trying to feed line and it jams constantly. Do not buy this.
I purchased this on 30 November 2022 [verifiable with a receipt].Installation instructions were unclear initially so I found a Ryobi video that clarified installation to my trimmer.Initially I was very happy with its ease of use; and my 72 year old wife is the main user of the battery trimmer.The bump knob quickly lost its serrations and installing new line had to frustratingly be wound in by hand. I think I only did this twice. Earlier this week [Tuesday 14 Feb 23] the head fell apart as shown in the photos. This is extremely disappointing.Then head has great features that have been poorly implemented [design and / or manufacturing materials selection issues].
This came with my 2-stroke line trimmer. Totally unreliable and the line gets jammed inside at every opportunity and is impossible to strip to retrieve it. Line also lasts seconds and I’m replacing it with a simpler unit.
Pleased to find a spare part for a product that has gone EOL. The replacement head was not easy to find and after a few calls to Bunnings and Ryobi the correct part number was found, ordered and delivered, first time. It came with a couple of fitting options with one that suited my version of the trimmer. Time will tell if it lasts as long as the one I wore out, expect it will!
Some serious problems with this:The grooves on the bump knob that the speed winder is meant to grip on to wear off very quickly, making the winder useless. It's easy to wind anyway, but what was the point of the winder? What did I pay for?Compared to other Ryobi trimmer heads, this one holds the line much closer to the top (nut end) of the head, which on my machine means that the line hits the part of the guard. Not the trim blade, but the plastic body of the guard. I suspect has lead to poorer performance and using more line than it should. Nice idea, but a fail in many ways. 2 stars instead of 1 because, except for the groves, the bump knob and housing have survived quite a lot of use, but you probably shouldn't buy this.
I’m so disappointed in this product. So many frustrating featuresDoesn’t last long at all needs replacing often.Trimming line gets stuck in the chamber due to it fusing together during use! So you need to pulling apart to correct.Bumb head wears out so can’t see where to line it up to re load.Trying to take off casing is impossible at the best of timesI will never purchase again.
This has to be the worst line trimmer refill ever. Not well designed and very poor quality. Ryobi have put the indicator markers to line up the correct direction when refilling the trimmer on the bottom of the spool, which wears out the second time you bump the feeder to let out the line. A really dumb design as you can no longer see where to line it up.Secondly, the line constantly retracts inside the spool and you spend half your time rewinding it again and again.The winder is a good idea but overall, it isn't worth the money.Very, very disappointed in what are usually well thought out products when it comes to Japanese engineering.
