I first saw the original Retro Lifer on some skate videos online and was going to get that one, but I’m so happy that S1 released this one with the higher speed certification. I wear mine while riding one of my e-scooters (the other I routinely go over 30 mph so I wear a DOT certified helmet) and my bike.My only “complaint” was likely of my own making… I bought the large helmet, but wound up needing to go with the XXL sizing pads to get the best fit. The XL was just a little *too* snug (I typically wear a large or XL in other helmets). With all of that said, this helmet fits me perfectly after getting the right sizing pads…If there are more styles/colors in the future, I’ll definitely buy another!

I upgraded from a cheaper helmet after seeing my friend take a hit to his head while skating vert. The first thing he said when we got him up was “ if this wasn’t a certified helmet we would be at the hospital .” I bought one after looking around online. I previously had an S1 wrist guard ( decades ago) after breaking my wrist. The quality was waaaaay above other wrist guards. I figured helmets would be the same. Fit is exactly like the sizing guide, the helmet doesn’t look weird or oversized and I like the neutral color. Completely stoked on it!

I ordered my first helmet from another company after following the measurement instructions. When it arrived, I couldn't even almost fit it on my head with my hair in a low bun. After seeking the help of YouTube University, I stumbled upon the S1 Mega Lifer. The few videos by Black skaters that I found all agreed that this was THE helmet to have. So, I purchased it along with the full pack of sizing liners, and it is AWESOME! I'll admit, I have yet to actually make it outside to skate with my new helmet. However, I've tried it on with two totally different styles and after swapping the liners it fit extremely comfortably for both styles. I love this thing. Thank you, S1, for being maybe the only brand that makes a helmet that is inclusive to Black skaters.

I was rollerskating and literally fell while pretty much standing still. I hit my head and obviously, I should’ve had a helmet on. So I went straight to S1 to order a new helmet. After measuring, I realized my head is quite large at 23” (ya know, big brain and all) but in the mega lifer, I wear a small. I specifically wanted the black gloss glitter, and it was only available in the mega lifer, which is totally fine. I specifically ordered direct from S1 because I wanted the extra padding that’s included for extra small and medium for the perfect fit. I love the glitter in this! The fit is excellent. I didn’t need to adjust any of the padding. Super comfortable and I’m excited to get back out on my skates and not worry so much about falling.
I can fit a larger size in the regular lifers or get a mega. The mega is much more comfy and I feel more protected since the edge of the helmet stocks out farther from my head (feel less likely to bash my temple if I went down hard cause the helmet would make contact with the ground well before a cheekbone would).I really like the matte purple color but hope the mega lifer comes in more color options in the future. Hopefully more folks will buy these and options will continue to expand. Thanks S1!
I’m a skateboarder who started somewhere in the mid-80s and always used the old-style soft padded helmets. When the newer and safer foam helmets started to show up in the early 2000s, I never found one that felt right so I’d just end up rocking an old and less-safe dome piece. Well that’s all changed thanks to the S1. Thanks for making a comfortable helmet and keeping the noggin safe. Good job!
It’s really important to have protective gear that is comfortable and you’re not having to mess with the whole time you’re wearing it. This is the best fitting and most comfortable helmet I’ve ever had. After a few minutes you forget that you even have it on. The extra sizing pads make getting the perfect fit super easy compared to other brands and I can tell that it will absorb bigger impacts as well. I’ll be using S1 helmets for now on! The only downside is I wish they would make other pads because I know those would be just as good!
Ordered the large for our 4 year old. I liked that the helmet came with inserts a size up and down. Our 4 y/o measured a medium and now has the next two sizes. The inserts are easy to switch out, but secure enough to not fall out on their own.The black gloss glitter has just enough glitter to shimmer in the sun, but isn’t too obnoxious. I would definitely recommend this helmet to everyone!
I have been wearing S1Helmets since I started Skogging! They have protected me head on so many occasions. It’s always the times that it can’t happen that something does happen.This helmet is especially useful in my style of pushing because I ride all over. There's just not enough information online about skate helmet shape. I wish the manufacturers would be more transparent about the helmet's shape because it is extremely important for proper fit. My head is oval, this helmet is pretty round. So while it fits front to back, it wiggles side to side. I feel like it may put slightly pressure on my forehead than my previous helmet.I technically measure for the XL but the L fit better. The helmet is really nice, I love the color and it's nice and low profile and comfortable. I wish the helmets came stock with the terry cloth liners. I plan to upgrade to those liners now that I know what size I need. I went with S1 for my new helmet due to the high safety ratings.
