Pigma ink, invented by Sakura over 25 years ago, continues to be the most reliable permanent ink on the market today. Artists, consumers, the government, and scientists consider Pigma Micron a necessary basic tool for any archival-quality, handwritten project. This permanent, fade resistant, chemically stable, pigment-based ink will not bleed or run if liquids are spilled on or applied to the document after the ink has dried. Perfect for legal situations, Pigma ink is nearly impossible to alter on documents, in log books, or on checks. It’s no wonder architects, archivists, anthropologists, entomologists and laboratories depend on Pigma Micron for record keeping. Manga artists, professional illustrators and watercolorists use the seven point sizes to create precision lines. Scrapbook enthusiasts and crafters require its archival quality for preserving memories in journals, and for making cards, quilts and dolls. Use Pigma Micron to leave a mark that will last a lifetime. Sold individually.

I wanted to buy the Sakura Pigma Micron pens in different colors to use on my Hobonichi since it is a great fineliner for that planner. I originally bought a multipack in different sizes of the black color from another website and found that the .25mm is the size I use all the time to write. I wanted to get this size in different colors, so I went to JetPens and saw they sold each color individually. The pen itself write really well. It is smooth and does not bleed through the Tomoe River paper on the Hobonichi (it does ghost because the paper is so thin but I do not mind that). It does not release too much ink, as I found happens to other finelines like the Steadtler fineliners. The .25mm size is very thin but I write small in my Hobonichi anyway so it is not a problem for me. If you are someone who is used to writing with larger pen sizes like .7 then I would suggest getting the next size for these pens. The only thing I want to make note of is I noticed that when I compared it to my Pigma Micron pen in the black ink that I got from the other website, the labels and writing on the outside of the pen are printed on directly the barrel. However, this one that I bought on JetPens has the label and markings printed on a clear sticker label and is stuck on the barrel instead of printed directly. I wish I could provide a picture of the comparison because I do not know if that has something to do the the authenticity of the pens.Upon closer inspection, another difference between the two is that the purple writings on the barrel (where is says "Pigma" "01" and "0.25mm") in my black pen from another website is a lighter shade of purple than the one I purchased here on JetPens. As far as the writing goes, I only had this pen for a short while so I cannot really tell the difference between the wear and tear of the nib (I press hard when I write) but they both seem to write the same.Another difference that I noticed is the code right above the barcode on the barrel has different fonts. The one I purchased on the other website has a smaller font size with the same font type as the rest of the writings on the barrel, while the one I purchased here has a larger font size with a more type-writer font, which is different from the rest of the font on the barrel. My only guess as to why there are differences is because I bought the black pen in a pack with different sizes vs. this is sold individually. I am hoping neither are fake, but I won't look too much into it because I don't want to know. They both work perfect and I will leave it at that.

It is black in pigment ink and is waterproof as well as fade proof all while delivering on the details and find lines. The outline, border and extra dark shades in this drawing were produced by covering graphite with the pen. The pens work well on clean media as well as media with graphite. I mention this because unlike ball point pens and other non felt-tipped pens tend to get globbed up when tracing over graphite. If you are an artist that wants a mid-range price on a high quality pen, this pen will satisfy again and again. PS. The art is by the creator of this post. All rights are retained by me, the artist.

Sakura Pigma Micron pen - Size 01 - 0.25mm - Purple. I color code in my planner. I'm now printing my own Personal / Bible size pages, and this size 01 - 0.25 mm pen writes finely enough that I can write lots in small spaces. After an unfortunate water incident (AC unit's drain backed up and water poured out onto a planner) where the only salvageable pages were those written with Sakura Pigma Microns, I now use only Sakura Pigma Microns in my planners.

It's just what I needed for some stubborn journal paper. Scooped up some notebooks that were discounted and discontinued from a store (and now I know why). The paper is a tiny bit waxy so I found that pens tended to skip while writing, ball point, gel, you name it, it skipped. So I figured a marker would do the trick. This was the perfect thing. It doesn't bleed through and it doesn't skip on the stubborn paper. I won't give up on these journals because they're the perfect size, page count, and flexibility that I'm looking for, they just needed a special writing tool to appreciate them.

Buy Two; Get One Free
8 February 2024

I bought two 005 black pens to get one 005 black pen free. I used my rewards as well. When I got home, I used all three (tested them) and only two worked. My free pen scratchy and skipped terribly. I wish there was a way to test them in the store before purchase so I could have chosen three that actually worked. There used to be a pad of paper for this but there wasn't one available in this location. Disappointed.

Good set if you want to try other colors beyond the basics
14 January 2024

I really like the Sakura black and sepia color pens, so decided to try this set with the other assorted colors. These are quality pens that behave well and perform like my black and sepia one, no complaints there. But, for what I do, I am not finding a lot of use for the other colors in the set. I can imagine if I was journaling perhaps the other colors would come in handy. I will keep experimenting.

My Favorite!
21 July 2024

I am absolutely obsessed with these pens. I know there are different sizes, but for me the 05 point is the best. The tip is perfect for writing and linework. It will smudge if you rub it immediately, but once it dries, it doesn't budge.I've used these for journals and artwork; they write beautifully with no skipping or dragging; line work is sharp and opaque.I've replaced these a few times because I use them so much. They're a staple not only in my kit, but for daily writing as well. I love these!

My favorite pen I use for everything!
14 December 2023

Here in rainy Portland, I like these pens because the ink dries fast, it never smears if my hand rubs over it, and it's so beautifully dense and opaque. It's spoiled me for other pens. I started using them for sketching; now, I use them for everything. if I later open my sketchbook (or shopping list!) in a bit of a drizzle, the ink doesn't run! It's permanent, AP nontoxic, and doesn't fade. I did try it for a laundry marker and it lasted through a dozen washes but faded over time. Oh, well. It's the pen for (almost) everything!

They are grate! My go to.
12 February 2024

I got the 05 micron. It is my go to size. I love that you can buy it by size instead of a pack. These markers speak for themselves if how good they are. If it’s your first time using them for a project I recommend testing out layering on a separate piece of paper. Once the ink is dry on the paper wait a little bit before using any type of alcohol marker or it will smear.Highly recommend

Writes great in any temperature inside or outside
25 November 2022

This is the second time I have purchased this pen. I love it as a writing pen. It's lines are crisp, clean & sharp, no smudging, dries instantly. I do volunteer work at an organization that requires us to be outside writing info on forms. Nov 2022 the outside temperature was 35 degrees & I was doubtful that a regular pen would write smoothly, therefore, I carried my Archival Pen with me and it worked like a charm. From this day forward it will be my only writing instrument. Got to stock up on more pens.
