I took a test run with my Salomon ADV Skin 5 W the other day. I’m surprised by the comfort level and the lack of bounce or rubbing with full flasks. I’ll likely seek out info online to ensure I’m adjusting it properly, and there isn’t much detail (or any really) in the packaging on how to do this. The only drawback is that the flasks instantly taint any drink with a plastic flavour. I’m soaking and airing them out to minimise this, but figure this is likely unavoidable with any flask. I have a love/hate relationship with this vest.What I love:It has so much storage that is easily accessible and well thought out. I bought this running vest on sale, and it has been awesome so far! There are so many pockets and loops that make it really easy to store keys, wallets, phone, snacks, etc. Although, I would recommend sizing up if you are in between sizes. My measurements should have been an XS, but I'm glad I bought an S. Another note is the straws. Unless you have a super long neck you will have to cut them down to size. Fortunately, Solomon has a really helpful youtube video on how to adjust the straw heights, but it was still difficult and required hot water, pliers, and my dad's help. But after I adjusted the straws, the vest worked perfectly! Not sure if it's worth the full price, but for being so cheap on sale I had to get it, and now I love it!

First, they don't tell you the straws are adjustable and that they are meant to be cut to the desired length. When you do the research and find finally some info, you realize it's impossible to do. The straw won't detache from the base even when put in warm water as they recommend doing. I even tried with clamps and it won't come out. Meaning that the feature of adjusting the straws is in fact inexistent. Which makes the vest almost unusable unless you like to be slapped in the face constantly during your runs. Such a shame of a fail from what's supposed to be a safe bet of a brand.
I have tried so many hydration vests over the years and FINALLY found one I love! The soft flasks are ideal as they don’t slosh around at all but still give you a good amount of fluids to carry. I love how the drawstring closure helps the vest to fit nice and snug. Excellent product. Highly recommended!
I’m a 34 DD and I tried a different brand of vest first but the way the bottles wound up essentially in my armpits was weird and uncomfortable. The design of this vest fits me so much better. I’ve read reviews that complain about chafing, but I always wear t shirts so that hasn’t been an issue for me. I’m super happy with this.
The pack felt uncomfortable around the neck from the beginning despite attempts to adjust. Left horrible chaffing. The water bottles were a nice change from the regular unisex bottles. But adjusting the straw length was MUCH more difficult and time consuming than the Salomon tutorial showed.It would have been a really nice pack if the neck wasn’t horrible. I am hoping it was a manufacturing error because the seam is right there to rub and the material around the neck seems unnecessarily rough. I owned and loved the 12 adv skin. The adv skin did not have any chaffing around the neck. Didn’t even notice the neck. I love the back pocket for my phone. Much easier to reach than the back phone sized pocket on the adv skin 12.
Just got this vest last week and tested it out over the weekend on an 8 mile run. The vest itself has a LOT of ahhhmazing features, but they are all worthless to me, as I will never be able to use it bc the material is so scratchy against my skin it left red welts & horrible chaffing anywhere it touched my bare skin directly (my skin is NOT sensitive). In the 80-100° summer heat, I run in a sports bra, so this simply won't work for anything but winter running when my bare skin is protected by a shirt, but I need a vest i can wear year round. Honestly, it's SOOO scratchy, I'm not sure a thin tech-fabric shirt would be enough protection.I also wish the pockets had a way to cinch them closed. Disappointed in my first ever hydration vest. The seam that holds the straw in place unfurled after my first use. They’ve also used the coarsest mesh around the neckline which causes extreme friction and chafing. Hoping the warranty will cover the defect.
I am 5'3" and straws that come with the pack literally hit me in the eyes. So the female shaped bottles were unusable. I was told I could cut the straws but that would take a lot of effort putting them back together. Thankfully I didn't make the effort before going for run and testing it out.I measured correctly, I defiantly ordered the right size and it fit perfectly. But this vest gave me the worst chaffing I have ever had.I was super excited to try Salomon out since most the runners I know love their stuff. Thankfully I am an REI member and was able to return it.
