Pros: Soft fabric, lots of storage, and nice tightening straps.Cons: The sizing on this pack is bizarre. I should be an XXS according to the sizing chart, but that size was incredibly tight across the shoulders. Sized up to an XS and the fit was good everywhere except for the armholes, which were incredibly tight, even while wearing a thin t-shirt. I have small/average shoulder and upper arms, so I was surprised by this issue. Additionally, the straws are incredibly annoying! They are extremely long, and smash both of my cheeks when the pack is on. I returned the pack and will keep looking for something with a better fit and a better designed hydration system.

I bought this a few months ago when the weather was cold; since the weather has been warmer, I have found it to be much too hot. I have used it during my marathon training and have been pleased that it carries a litre of fluid in soft, flexible bottles which feel comfortable And whilst the straws are very long, they can be tucked into small pockets on the front, although I am contemplating cutting them shorter. There is also a space for a bladder in the back so useful for longer trail runs. I have found the sizing of the Adv Skin 8 incorrect; according to my measurements I needed a small but it was far too tight under my arm pits so I had to exchange it for a medium. With just a running vest, the hydration vest rubs again the skin of my chest causing quite bad chafing.

I got this vest (size S) on a good sale, but I will be getting rid of it and do not recommend it. I’m 5’4, 124 lbs, B chest size - this vest is so small, chafes and irritates around my arms and armpits, and is not possible to adjust. The front has little clips that you would think you could adjust - but I’ve wrestled with that thing for nearly an hour and used tweezers and cannot get the clasp into a smaller loop hole. The way it is currently, the strap literally is choking me out because it’s placed so high. If you don’t have any boobs and you’re flat chested, great! This vest will be great for you! But if you have any chest at all, this vest will not fit, is entirely way too difficult to try to adjust, and not worth the money. This vest would be great for a pre-teen or teen girl, or a VERY petite woman. From reading the reviews, I knew this vest was going to run small, but since it was on significant clearance, figured I might as well give it a shot. I am 5 feet tall, 110 lbs, bra size 32DD (34" chest), and I ordered the size XS which aligned with my dimensions according to the size chart (only available sizes on clearance are XXS and XS). This thing was TIGHT. I could put it over my shoulders and fasten in front, but I knew it was going to be uncomfortable to run in. The two soft flasks are located in the front pockets... not so great for someone with a large chest like myself. I realized that I would prefer to have the weight of the flask on my back to offer some counter balance. I ... MoreThis vest would be great for a pre-teen or teen girl, or a VERY petite woman. I realized that I would prefer to have the weight of the flask on my back to offer some counter balance. I found the zig-zag front closure to be unnecessarily fussy. Ultimately, I ended up returning - I think a size small would have been a better fit, but the front soft flasks aren't the best for my body type.
Love this vest! I had never used a hydration vest before, as I was worried it would be hot, bulky and generally uncomfortable. Not the case at all with this vest! I love it and don’t even feel like I am wearing it when it is loaded with water and my energy packs! Plenty of pockets and places to store stuff. I don’t like how the straws sit up high but I simply tuck them under the vest at the shoulder. I use it for both long road runs and trails runs.
I chose this one after a lot of research. It hasn’t disappointed. I’ve worn it now on two 20 mile + runs with no issues. I hardly notice I’m wearing it.It’s lightweight - even with both flasks filled.Easy to wearVery adjustableGreat storageFits really well ( I’m a 8-10) and bought a small. No chafing or digging in. No movement when running.Dries easily after use when it’s a bit wet from sweat.Love the pockets for gels, excess clothing Flasks-The straws were too long for me so I cut the them (guided by a YouTube clip). Now they’re perfect. The flasks are air tight and easy to drink from - the best I’ve bought. They’re 500 ml each - enough for 20 m running but I might purchase a bladder for longer runs. I do really like the vest. It's got lots of pockets. It came with two 500 milliliter bottles with long straws so I can sip when I run - and sometimes get slapped across the face with if I'm not paying attention to the placement of the bottles. The straws could be shorter, I believe there's a way to cut them down too.My main complaint is that, for 150 dollars, I expect this thing to last.Within a month one of the elastic pieces disconnected from the vest - these are the bands that hold the straw secure to the vest after 6 months one of the side zippers ripped. There's not a really secure location to hold my phone while I run except for the side pocket where the zipper is ripped. There's an additional spot for a 1.5 L reservoir in the back but there's no easy ... MoreI do really like the vest. Maybe I need an upgrade.I just filed a claim with salomon, hopefully they help me out. Not a bad vest, I do like it. Just a little to delicate for the price point.
I wanted to love this pack but it's caused me more issues than reasonable. First, the mesh on the back is so thick that it causes me to overheat easily and traps a lot of sweat in the back, and I've not experienced this with Osprey Dyna 6 or Nathan Vaporhowe. Second, the vest has ruined every shirt I've worn with it, causing major pilling on the sides, back and chest. Last, the front bladders are really weird. I don't like the functionality where there are 2 connection/disconnection features. The straw connection point doesn't lock into place easily and have twisted open and poured out several ounces of water all over me. The straws come longer than they need to be and were not very easy to cut shorter as many recommended. Sizing is also really weird on this vest. ... MoreI wanted to love this pack but it's caused me more issues than reasonable. The small rode up into my armpits and it was so uncomfortable. So I went up to a medium, it solved the armpit issue but then it was pretty big in the ribcage and on the tightest adjustment it still felt loose. The only thing I like about this vest are the material and size of the front pockets and side ribcage pockets. They can fit a ton into them and all the nutrition, car keys, cell phone, sunglasses and more feels secure!
For context: I've run a bunch of 50km, 2 50-milers, and I'm training for my first 100. I trail run (Sat) up to 25 miles, (Sun) up to 15 miles about every weekend. Ok, as others already noted again and again, this vest has a weird fit. I got both the XS and S. For perspective, I'm 5'5", 125 lbs, 34" chest. The XS was way too tight in the armpits and the S was too big in the chest. I was willing to deal with cinching down the S vest because I really (really) like the storage on this vest - so many easily accessible pockets. I use a VaporHowe 4L right now and I wanted something that can hold more stuff that is easily accessible. This definitely fits the bill. The side zippered pockets and the generous front pockets (beside those for flasks) are awesome. The side zippered pockets and the generous front pockets (beside those for flasks) are awesome. I also really like the webbing loops on the front, the elastic straps that keep the flasks from sagging as they empty, and, well, everything. The kicker for me were the vest-specific flasks and matching holsters. They are oddly shaped, which makes the flasks ride well. But I can't put my 20oz flasks in the holsters. I also worry a bit about getting replacements when these go bad, since they aren't standard. The final straw was the size of the flask opening - it's like the diameter of a quarter. I'd have to carry a funnel to refill anywhere but my kitchen. What a drag. For me, this vest is 90% there. But the 10% that I don't like was too much to keep it.
I purchased this based on excellent reviews online. I use it for jogging and hiking in warm weather. The many adjustments keep it snug while jogging. I find myself frequently adjusting it as I sweat, drink more water, etc. You can easily adjust on the go.I love that it carries water weight in the front to balance out the weight I am carrying. That is a nice advantage over water backpacks. It’s easy to drink water without stopping, so you can continuously get small amounts of liquid on the run.Sweat builds up on my back, which is a disadvantage compared to carrying water on a waist belt.I haven’t compared it to other brands, but I’m happy with it, so I don’t need to.
