I have been looking for a good pair of RUNNING shoes for a while and I am 100% satisfied with these. I am 6 feet, 170 pounds and I do run fast (5 km under 21 minutes). I also have small but wide feet (size 8). I had a serious injury last year to my achilles tendon so I also needed shoes with good support. The Phantasm shoes meet all these critierias and are just awesome.Quick note: these shoes are really made for RUNNING. The shape of it makes them perfect to run. But I would not wear them for aerobic sports.

In terms of overall feeling it quite cool shoe, I have expected the fabric and fit to be a little more like in pulsar trail pro, sock alike, but this is more stiff, and the sensation is not that good for me. Due to that it does not hold my foot as good, despite the same size. Shoe is very narrow + some additional rubber on the sides is causing skin irritation on my pinky toes (very common issue, from what I've found in the internet). Outsole is quite stiff as well, not spongy, but responsive and stable so that is feeling good.

I first saw these in a preview YouTube video in the winter and have been interested since then. Shoes with a rocker (I think Salomon has its own marketing name for it) have always worked well for me. I have 120 miles on my pair and am blown away by the shoes. They are light, smooth, and stable. I have a wider foot and the toe box is very accommodating. The whole shoe seems to be of high quality — it is clearly a carefully engineered piece of running equipment, not a shoe designed to do double duty in casual wear. There is a crowded field at this price point of performance trainers. The Phantasm is my current favorite of all offerings. The only negative is that the shoe laces are comically long. No idea what they were thinking there. Just triple knot them and enjoy!

Was really looking forward to these as have worn Salomon trainers exclusively for about 6 years. Loved the midsole in the pulsar so was excited that a Salomon road shoe was getting a decent midsole. Unfortunately for me the upper is poor. Can’t achieve a decent lock down and they don’t breathe very well at all and the toe box volume seems very shallow. Gave them a chance and ran a few times but now left wishing I’d gone for the glidemax but Salomon won’t accept returns on shoes you’ve tried properly.
I love Salomon products and currently have the Pulsar, Pulsar SG, Ultra Glide x2, Sonic Balance, Sense Ride x4, XT-6 and the subject shoe, Phantasm. I give all the other shoes 5 stars. I have done multiple runs in this shoe hoping that it would finally work for me. I very much appreciate the cushion, responsiveness, weight and style. I, however, get blisters on each pinky toe whenever running over 5k at any pace. It isn't a width issue either since I fit the the Pulsar and Pulsar SG perfectly. Since it happens on both feet I assume it is simply the design that does not work for me and may not be the case for everyone else. I do not get blisters from any of the other Salomon products whatsoever, no matter the distance or pace. After my last run I have decided to retire this shoe with less than 50 miles total and have switched to the Pulsar for this type of road running. As other reviews have stated, the laces are comically long, and I would triple knot them. I definitely prefer the quicklace style. One other note, I am less enthused about the energy blade concept. It seems a bit gimmicky and believe the shoe would perform just as well without. I can't say I felt much more propulsion than when wearing the Pulsar or Ultra Glide.
I was really looking forward to putting some miles in on this shoe, but ended up returning it after only a couple of runs. The midsole has decent rebound and was fairly fun to run on, but the upper was a killer for me. It doesn't breathe at all and it is super stiff. Seriously, it's probably one of the most heat-retaining materials I've ever run in. I guess they're not thinking about summer in Ohio when they're creating shoes in Annecy! Skip it if you live in a place with any sort of summer humidity.
I did my first long run in the Phantasm today up on Rollinsville road in Boulder Colorado. I love these shoes so much. They are my favorite road shoe so far. The foam and the stack height are perfect not too much not too little. I can feel the pop and the glide. I love how comfortable they are but also how fast. I think they are a perfect long run or marathon. they may be better in my opinion than the Phantasm CF, perhaps a mix with the aggressiveness of the Phantasm CF and the Phantasm would add up to be the perfect road racing she in the future. The size runs a little big for men's 11.5. All in all I love these shoes so much.
I got these in the limited Ciele colourway because I was blown away by how cool they looked. I guess I should have taken more note of how little padding there was around the ankle area really but you just assume these things have been tested. The blisters started after the first run. One on my left little toe, the other on my navicular bone, really unusual places to get sore. While the toe stopped hurting after a while, the ankle blister comes back every time I run more than 5k. I've checked and double checked for maybe raised stitching but the upper is mainly welded and there's nothing I can see that would rub.The really annoying thing is that this is a fast pair of trainers. The plastic shim and shape of the sole really propel you forward, making you want to ... MoreI got these in the limited Ciele colourway because I was blown away by how cool they looked. The plastic shim and shape of the sole really propel you forward, making you want to pick up the pace. Cushioning on the sole is a little on the hard side but I'm a forefoot runner anyway so it suits me.And I'll say it again - they look amazing. This is good because the only thing I'll be doing in these from now on is walking around town. I just can't trust them not to hurt.As a pair of running shoes these have proved to be my most costly mistake yet.
-laces are way too long-there is a blister causing area where the matrix fabric creates creases that saw away at your toe-I would personally love this shoe without the energy blade or at least make the energy blade 1/3 the stiffness for more comfortable daily miles.------------------Other than those things, I think it is a fantastic shoe. I Thought long and hard before purchasing these over competitors and opted for these because I am a huge fan of minimal uppers and heel counters.
I use these shoes very often right now - for running outdoors, but also for training indoors. These are my favorite shoes right now.Very light, durable. Made of great material that stays dry almost all the time :)Unfortunately, I'm a trail runner! I wish I could find an ultra running shoe that fits me as well as the Phantasm! ;)
