Awesome shoes! Very light, both shoes weigh exactly 200g in UK size 9. I'm turning 53 this year and it reminds me a bit of the old days when we had racing flats. But these shoes are far better. It is a stiffer ride and has a lower stack height but I like the ground feel and love the simplicity of the design. The red colour just makes you want to run faster. Although I'm recovering from a stress fracture in my foot I still find the shoes do provide enough protection. I've tried them out on a tempo run, a very hilly run, even a light trail run and just a run after the rain to enjoy the shoes.I find the R-Camber works well for a smooth transition onto the forefoot. Excellent choice for road

The scope was to buy the lightest and the most dynamic shoe for races on the road. It is even possible to fly with this shoe (I did the personal best on half-marathon distance). Hardly to say whether it suits me also on longer distances like marathon (I am used to have more cushioning shoe there), but anyway, the shoe is perfect (even though the shoe also looks great).

I bought it with a 50% discount. I am an amateur runner. I like minimalist shoes with a low heel. I can't say about reliability because I recently purchased it. I read a lot of reviews. I am very happy with the ride. I use it for speed and tempo runs. My race is 10 km.

Fast!
21 September 2021

Stupid fast and ridiculously smooth. I purchaes the Phantasm as speed day shoe but it's abilities extend beyond that as I've used it for tempo and long runs and have felt fresh after. The only draw back for me is by virtue of my lower volume feet (not narrow just low volume). The Phantasm is a very fun shoe to run in...very fun!

Gets up and goes
11 February 2021

I've been using this shoe for a few months now and it's different than pretty much anything else I've used. The rocker is pretty extreme. It's a shoe that for me it wants to go fast and get you up on your toes. It's a great summer road workout shoe. It has a super breathable upper that fits my foot well. A little more cushion in the midsole than a typical racing flat and it has been nice for tempo runs and faster road runs as well. It's definitely meant for a mid-foot to fore-foot strike. A heel striker would probably feel too far in the back seat with this one.

I want to like it but . . .

The shoe overall is a great feel but the instep isn’t like any shoe I’ve had from Salomon. I wear almost exclusively S Lab running shoes and after a few runs I kept getting blisters which I’ve never had in any Salomon shoes. The Pulsar is better but still needs some refining. The S Lab Cross is fantastic. I’m not sure what the approach was for this shoe but a bit off a miss compared to years of bit hits for me.

Light, fast and responsive
5 February 2021

My favorite road shoe to date. I got this last week and put 64 miles on them in 4 days. Longest run so far was a marathon. The upper is definitely thin, so if you're in a colder area then dress accordingly. I wore them during a snow storm and threw on two pairs of socks and was totally fine. For those who are concerned about it being a racing flat, don't be. Most of my running career I've worn medium to higher cushioned shoes. This shoe is definitely more minimal but the material that the sole is made out of is comfortable and slightly absorbs your feet, creating a more cushioned feel.I'm going for a world record on a treadmill later this year, and will definitely be using this shoe!

Not the old S/Lab Sonics but still great

At first I wasn't sure about these. the lack of padding on the upper was a concern. But I'm really enjoying running in them, I'm not sure if they took a little while to break in or if I'm just feeling more confident in them. either way, they're a great pair of speedsters. I'm finding that I pick these up over any other pair for runners, whether it's a steady Z2 long run (longest run 35km) or intervals, they adapt to each run well. But once you open up your stride the rocker propel your feet forward – giving you a good quick turnover. The midsole provides a good level of cushioning and is very responsive. A good sock choice is a must... they're obviously incredible breathable.I would like to see slightly more padding in key areas like the heel and lace eyelets.I still have a sweet spot for the old sonic 2’s maybe Salomon could bring them back in their sneakers range;-)

Oh why did Salomon change the toe box shape!
6 May 2021

I've only been able to try on these shoes briefly. The toe box shape, which is fine on the S/Lab ultra and sense ride has been changed for the Phantasm's and Pulsar. It means a choice between the correct length with pinched toes, sizing up to a point where the shoe just feels sill long and disrupts your flow or retuning the shoes. I chose to return the shoes.I'm definitely not the first person to try this pair of shoes on. Whilst making the Index.01 might be good for the planet, all these shoe retunes more than offset that good intent. Please fix the pointy toe box - it will help you save the planet and keep more customers! :)

Unwearable
30 May 2021

I'm a huge salomon fan, in fact they're the only shoes I run in.I was so excited to take these out on a first run. They felt really comfy straight out the box. The midsole is good providing a good amount of ground feel for the weight, I was hoping for a more snapping popping feel but they do feel fast! The issue I have is there is zero padding in the upper which caused me a lot of pain on the top of my foot... 1 hour into the run the pain was so bad I kept having to stop and readjust my laces to try and alleviate the pressure. It's been a week since that run and it still hurts to run in any shoe. I really wanted to love these shoes but sadly I don't think I want to run the risk of them destroying my foot anymore.
