Salomon Men's Speedcross 6 GTX Shoes Black / Black / Phantom 7
Salomon Speedcross 6 GTX are trail running shoes designed for wet and muddy terrain, lighter than previous versions and developed to provide more effective ground contact and rapid mud shedding. The waterproof, breathable GORE-TEX membrane protects against the elements, while the redesigned upper retains the characteristic comfort of the SPEEDCROSS range. The Mud Contagrip sole uses deep, pointed 5 mm lugs designed to provide high levels of grip on loose, soft, rugged and uneven terrain. The EnergyCell + midsole offers high energy return, cushioning and durability. The cushioning is soft and protective, foot support is neutral and the level of protection is high. The upper combines synthetic material and fabric, with close-fitting debris-resistant mesh and Ripstop fabric reinforced against rips, tears and abrasion. The quickLACE system uses a minimalist, robust lace with one-pull adjustment to make the shoe easy to put on and take off. The footbed and lining are fabric, while the sole is rubber. Salomon Speedcross 6 GTX have a stack height of 23 mm at the forefoot and 33 mm at the heel, with a heel-to-toe drop of 10 mm. The width is regular, the stated weight is 328 g per shoe and the model is recommended for 2-3 runs per week.

Gen 4s bought in Canada outlets first salomons I ever bought… then I went to Wisconsin to black earth and bought 4 more pair XAs XDs lows & Mid. Then I went back there and bought blue and white speed cross 5s loved them so much I ordered a second pair of the blue SC5s from a place on Amazon. I have troubled feet 15 years in the US Army transportation and Ordinance corps… A weapons instructor for 3 years pounding concrete in the classroom and on the ranges… Salomon’s are the most comfortable shoes for my arches and ankles. I just ordered a pair of the GTX 4D FORCES 2 in coyote brown! not earth brown coyote brown… hoping the happy feet will remain that way in them. I need the ankle support!

Speedcross are my go-to athletic shoe. I love the large chevron lugs that grip everything from flat pedals to ground. These are normal colors and that is a plus. Some others that I have had were a bit garish. One of the only things in the past that I didn't like were that dirt and dust stuck to them like spray paint. They are a PITA to get clean again after running in dirt. Water - no problem, mud no problem, dry, dusty, conditions - a problem. Although, sandy conditions are not a problem. Keep a second pair handy! ;)

I bought these shoes last year for winter running and will not ever switch to another pair. I have tried a variety of winter running shoes including the XA Pro 3Ds, Spike Cross and other icebug spiked shoes. The Speed Cross shoes have had the best grip for snow running I have seen. As my runs go through ice, snow and pavement, using these with microspikes has solved many of my grip requirements. I found that the microspikes fit well on these shoes and don't clump. Due to the size of the lugs I would not recommend adding nanospikes to these as the pressure is not well distributed over the ice cleats.

I have owned many Salomon products over the years. The last pair of speedcross 5 winter spikes lasted 3 years! I live and train mostly in Alaska. Most of my training is trail. These have been put to the test with many hundreds of miles with no fail. Feet still warm and dry, all spikes intact. This new version Speedcross 6 spikes is a welcome addition! Feet are dry and warm, aggressive tread and spikes work perfectly. Thanks Salomon! Please don’t ever discontinue this model!
I've had these for a couple of months and they're super comfortable mile after mile, even with troublesome feet and aging basketball knees.Serious leg break as a kid left me with one leg a ½ inch shorter than the other, so custom orthotics have to fit into my off the shelf shoes- but only way that works is to lose the sweet Salomon insoles so the orthos can have that thickness to do their magic and have my foot in the right place in my shoes.I'm close to 70 but am a daily 5k cardio walker but also get in a 10 or 12km trail hike with 3 or 400m of elevation change on the rocky and root-y Vancouver Island forest trails in my area- a place where it rains thru the winter months. The soles of the Speedcross 6 excel on the trails and seem to be holding up well so far ... MoreI've had these for a couple of months and they're super comfortable mile after mile, even with troublesome feet and aging basketball knees.Serious leg break as a kid left me with one leg a ½ inch shorter than the other, so custom orthotics have to fit into my off the shelf shoes- but only way that works is to lose the sweet Salomon insoles so the orthos can have that thickness to do their magic and have my foot in the right place in my shoes.I'm close to 70 but am a daily 5k cardio walker but also get in a 10 or 12km trail hike with 3 or 400m of elevation change on the rocky and root-y Vancouver Island forest trails in my area- a place where it rains thru the winter months. The soles of the Speedcross 6 excel on the trails and seem to be holding up well so far and along with the uppers, they clean up well with a hose and finger scrubbing and look still look like new.The excellent Salomon description page of intended uses, design and pros and cons along with the reviews I read gave me the confidence to buy them online despite my special fit needs, and I know my stride type. The fit for these shoes are perfect for me.Basketball also beat up my ankles as a young guy, so my winter hikes also see me wearing a pair of Salomon Cross Hike 2's with their mid boot design to prevent ankle sprains when I'm hiking more steep rocky bits and less trail terrain and want the boot height and stiffer torsion sole but a very similar sole that stands up, grips well and again mud and dust wash right off with all synthetic materials.I have fussy feet and Salomon has given me happy feet again and makes it easy to get the steps and stay really active!
I took these shoes to Kauai recently and they held up great. I did a lot of hiking on various terrains, including mud and volcanic rock. In muddy terrain they did well, they didn’t slip off my foot and they were easy to clean off. On packed dirt, they were nice and grippy even while slightly damp- I half expected to start slipping on the looser areas of dirt like gravel on an incline, these shoes gripped the ground well. On the volcanic rock, they endured lots of nooks and crannies, sharp edges. For me, that was the real test because volcanic rock can be very sharp and would easily shred up a cheaper made shoe, especially the outsole and tip. I got them wet a few times crossing a number of rivers during a hike in Hanakapi’ai. The outside stayed dry, the inside did ... MoreI took these shoes to Kauai recently and they held up great. I got them wet a few times crossing a number of rivers during a hike in Hanakapi’ai. The outside stayed dry, the inside did get wet and sloshy as I submerged my feet during a slip on wet rock. When I got home, I left them outside for the night to dry and by morning they were only slightly damp, I put them on anyway and they felt fine even with the slight dampness. No funky smell from the water exposure. The shoes were also very comfortable right out of the box, no breaking in or stretching was necessary. I would buy these again in a heartbeat! Awesome, durable shoes!
I really needed a 12.5 size and the shoe I wanted, did not have it so I upgrade a little bit to this shoe - no regrets! A very comfortable shoe with great grip and I really appreciate the gortex liner to keep my feet dry. These are a little less bulky than my XA Pros - and I really like that, and the grip - like cleats. I also love the SWalomon single pull laces, they work great. If I could feedback anything to Salomon it would be to make the tongues stay aligned, seriously. It is like they don't wear their own shoes. This is something that goes across their lines I find. Just a little elastice on both sides to always keep the tongue straight - that would be awesome.
Purchased before a summer holiday in Scotland and Iceland. Specifically for a multi-day stint traversing the West Highland Way from Glasgow to Fort William. Weather was typically Scottish with a bit of rain every day, at times heavy. Comfort through the roof. Dependable grip. Flawless weatherproofing. I brought other shoes for the rest of the trip, but they never saw the light of day. Highly recommended.I found these to run true to size. I normally wear an 11 and that's what I purchased.
I originally had the XA PRO 3D, which wore out too quickly, in terms of the Gore Tex water proofing & sole rubber). Salomon agreed to replace (which is great customer service) and I purchased the SPEEDCROSS 5 GORE-TEX (predecessor model to the new Spreedcross 6 Gore-Tex).Unfortunately this shoes has also worn out now after 1yr & 4months. I don't do a lot of running, I have separate summer running shoes, and I also don't scrap my feet along the ground when I walk. Therefore I am surprised they have worn out so quickly. They are light, and fit well, but I can't afford to replace shoes so often.
I have been a Salomon customer for decades and have had the Speedcross 3 and 5 with great satisfaction.Usually the quality should improve over time, but the model 6 turned out to be a noticeable drop in quality and I can't use them anymore. After a few uses on the terrains for which it is sold and also advertised on the site (mixed, see the photo from their own video) some studs broke under both shoes. The use was not at all extreme and on easy paths.Having pointed out the problem to the assistance, they only made fun of me, even if with great courtesy.I didn't expect all this from Salomon.
