Salomon XA Forces GTX 2020 Black

$318.00

(269 reviews)

Salomon XA FORCES GTX Black With the Salomon XA FORCES GTX in Black, Salomon has launched a new edition of the coveted XA PRO 3D outdoor boot, adding a high-end product to the tactical segment in 2020. The particularly lightweight combat boot is ideal for authorities and the military because it is optimized for fast and dynamic movements and is suitable as a tactical combat boot for all tactical conditions. Thanks to the Contagrip MD outsole with a wide profile, rough surfaces and ladders can be tackled with confidence. Long marches and extended missions in rough terrain are improved by the cushioning with high-performance EVA energy cell foam, which absorbs steps and impacts. The foot itself finds perfect support in an anatomically molded OrthoLite insole. In addition to extra cushioning, the sole also provides some air and promotes the breathability of the sole. The upper material is completely non-reflective, a simple feature that is of great importance to the authorities, military and security services. The upper material of the Salomon XA FORCES GTX is made from a combination of anti-debris mesh and PU-coated leather, which provide both a robust surface and optimum air circulation. The toes are protected by a reinforced toe cap to absorb knocks, kicks and impacts. The upper material of the shoe is waterproof thanks to the Gore-Tex coating and can therefore also be used in adverse weather conditions.

Pros: Very stable shoes. Very comfortable, almost as good as the XA Pro 3D. The lacing is very easy to use and secure. The weak points of the XA Pro 3D have been over-reinforced. I'm pretty confident this shoes will last as long as its outsole.Cons: Very very heavy. Being a low cut sneaker this cause the heel to move up and down a lot during walking. I don't easily get blisters and chaffing so it hasn't bothered me yet, but it could be a problem for some people. Use high quality socks to prevent this. And then, the biggest flaw in my opinion, the f@#&ing goretex. Why do they have to put goretex everywhere God damnit. It's a low cut sneaker, waterproofing it makes absolutely no sense. Despite what is advertised, goretex is not breathable enough to keep your foot dry in a shoe. This won't be a big deal when the temp is under 25ºC, but over that the shoes feel very warm, too much.Overall: Very good all around shoes for daily use and casual wood strolling. I would use it for missions not exceeding 16h in a permissive and controlled environment, but I wouldn't trust them for anything harder. I would NOT recommend these shoes for demanding hiking activities and sports.Would I buy it again: Definitely no. Despite being good shoes overall, to me the cons outweigh the pros. My quest of the perfect low cut duty shoes is still going on, these ones aren't the holy grail I was expecting.

These are the most supportive and comfortable sport shoes I have ever purchased! Lightweight but with the stability of a boot. I've been wearing Keens for years but always disappointed in the short life span of the laces and loop grommets. These seem much more sturdy. The toe box is a little more narrow than the Keens and the size is exact...if you have any concern about size, try a half size larger. I wear a 10.5 and I was on the edge about moving up to an 11. Other than that seems like a great shoe thus far!

Hopefully, when the size is back in stock, it will coincide with a new sale. Time will tell if the shoes eventually redeem my opinion of the company.

Great features and durability
27 December 2023

Very happy with my current purchase of these. I was pretty partial to my XA PRO 3D, however after a little less than 6 month's of use, they started to come apart. I wear Salomon for every season, and for many use. Whether it's my Toundra Forces CSWP, or my 4D hiking boots. Quality over quantity any day. Salomon also approved my warranty on my XA PRO'S. A great company that will continue to me as a customer for many many years to come.

Great shoes that I have worn daily for many years.
14 October 2023

I've worn the XA Forces GTX low shoes for the last 8 years. While I do have other shoes and boots which I occasionally wear, these shoes are by far those I wear most regularly. With almost daily use, each pair lasts between 2 and 3 years. These are worn on all terrain types including asphalt and concrete floors and the soles hold up magnificently. Even after 3 years, the shoes have sufficient reliability to be transitioned from my daily wear shoe to my exercise shoes with my "retired" pair used for running, river walking, beach / surf walking etc. The fit is comfortable and half sizes are available unlike some other top end brands. I also like the speed lace system which seemed gimmicky to me at first, but is something I have grown to value. There have been small changes in upper stitching across the shoes I have worn over the years, but each pair has the same level of comfort and overall reliability. Expect these to be very comfortable and reliable for longer than you expect.

Heal fabric is weak
24 June 2024

I wear the heal fabric out long before the tread. (Attached Pic) I am on my 8th pair with all the same outcome. Theyre awesome for packing weight super strong footbed, i pack up to 120lbs a couple times a week for exercise. But for $180 i am only getting half there life before the heal is toast which is only a few months, bummer cause the rest of the shoe is fantastic never had a problem with the waterproofing or stitching.

It's not perfect

(Early Review)Prior to this shoes, I had worn an older generation salomon xa forces gtx, same size. My only complaint with that pair of shoes is that it pinched on my left foot, but no problem with right foot. The left and right sides of human body aren't completely the same and probably my left foot is just slightly bigger. When I bought the 2020 version of xa forces gtx I was a little worried about the same problem but both feet fit well! I can still feel the difference between fitting of left and right feet but I don't feel that uncomfortable with this newer pair! For me personally, the breaking period wasn't so long, which only took around 2 days. The shoes isn't very breathable but what are you expecting with a salomon that has GTX with it? The heel support and arch support are excellent, much better than the Speedassault. Though the speedassault is much lighter(just about 320g), layers and support are tradeoffs. I own both Speedassault and XA forces GTX and I'd say they are for different scenarios.

The standard
14 October 2023

This order was my 5th of the XA Forces shoe. I get a pair once a year and utilize them for training, light duty days (I work in EMS), or clinical rotations. Excellent support and appropriate room for my orthotics. The shoe fits well and is fairly durable. I've done a few GORUCK light events in these shoes and they've been great. The one area of improvement I'd love to see is in the durability of the real outer sole.

These Forces are Great
16 February 2024

I love Solomon shoes, I am very happy with my current purchase of the Salomon Forces. I’ve had several XA PRO 3D shoes. But I feel like the Forces have More room at the toe box, with keeping support for my whole foot. The Forces feel durable. I am a size 10. I ordered a size and 10 fits perfectly. If I put on wool socks I would have to purchase a half size up, but winter is almost finished here in Chicago. Also very comfortable during 12hr plus shift on my feet. Wish Forces had more colors. Always satisfied with Salomon.

Very Good Tactical Shoe

I've been long retired from law enforcement, but have an upcoming opportunity to work as a paid security officer at a major golf championship in Augusta, Georgia. Given my current career as a professional golf caddie, it's likely to be my best chance to go behind the scenes at this revered venue without scoring a PGA Tour player's bag. I needed a pair of all-black tactical shoes to wear with the uniform. Since I own six pair of Salomon shoes for caddying, I knew that I could trust their tactical shoes to be waterproof, breathable, and be comfortable during 12-hour shifts on my feet. Of course, I try to follow the old Cold War truism, "Trust, But Verify!", so I've been wearing my pair to work. They haven't let me down. I've walked 10 miles, in varied terrain, at least six times since I got 'em, and have had no blisters, hot spots, or discomfort. Wet grass and a few heavy rain showers produced no leakage. Tread grips well on all surfaces, and shows no appreciable wear. I'm a big fan of the lacing system, and the insoles are supportive as well as comfortable.
