Amazing Boot. Watch out for size. Run hot.

Amazing boots! Order 1/2 to 1 size higher than your measured size...Althought they are breathable they run hot for humid and warm places. Wear with wool or cooling socks.Quicklace system amazing! No words for it, great. The REALLY support you and propel you forward, upward, or help you counter a steep down slope.Worth it. Don't expect an amateur 'smooth ride' boot. You'll feel the ground and that's great, just know what you want.

Close to perfection however…

I have now spent several 12 hour shifts as well as walked some miles in the forces to be able to make a decent review. My first impression, the fit and finish is spot on. They look and feel high quality and my shoe size was true to my normal size. If you are someone like myself who likes a more tactical tennis shoe/boot look and feel you will like these. I have used three different versions of UAs and these feel much more durable and better made. They seem to be breaking in and becoming more comfortable at this point. They are a much more boot feel and have a much stiffer sole than other boots that I am used two but I knew that going into them. They are a much more boot feel and have a much stiffer sole than other boots that I am used two but I knew that going into them. If you stand for hours at a time on a regular basis I would not recommend these at all. For patrol use I think they bridge the gap between tactical boots and tennis shoes very well in my opinion. However, I have had a love hate relationship with these shoes so far. My first issue was the inner stiches on the seam that runs down your inner ankle. There was a slight knot on the right shoe that caused some pressure point pain to my ankle. I eventually found that knot and was able to manipulate it enough to fix that problem. Now my biggest complaint with the shoes are the laces. I like the lace system but it does take some time to get used to. I found myself at first lacing them too tight because I read some reviews of them loosing up which I have noticed only a small amount. Therefore I now lace them like normal and resolved that problem. My number one complaint which is infuriating is that the laces essentially squeak on the lower eyelets of the shoes EVERY SINGLE STEP I TAKE. The left shoe for whatever reason is significantly louder than the right but both still make a squeak/rubbing noise every time I step that comes from the laces. I have tried to tighten the laces to prevent the rubbing which made the shoes uncomfortable and did not help as well as tried to wear them looser which again made no difference. From what I can tell the upper eyelets have an inner plastic piece that allows the laces to glide in them easier and reduces the friction/rubbing noise however, the lowest or bottom eyelets does not have that inner plastic piece. I am to the point of attempting to use gun oil or inject grease into the eyelets in order to try and stop the squeaking. I want to love these boots however, they are making it hard too. If anyone has a solution to the squeaking please let me know so I can finally enjoy them to their fullest potential.

This is my 3rd pair of Salomons I've owned, and I will continue to buy this brand because they are always comfortable right out the box. I thought these were going to be narrow, but they fit fine, as I usually buy wide size boots. These have nylon mixed with some leather, and the feel is pretty durable, I don't plan on raiding another country, or hiking dozens of miles so around town, they will do just fine. The speed lace system these have are so easy to use, and speedy. I can actually put these boots on while standing, just slipping my foot into them, and with a pull of the lace, its perfect for the rest of the day, and you just tuck away the lace in its own pouch incorporated into the tongue of the boots. I dig these boots, and would recommend them any day. Eyelet defects. Shoe not very durable.
4 March 2024

The eyelets are too soft and the laces create grooves that eventually cut through the lace.I managed to dremel and press one smooth that is quickly wearing down again.Another just shredded a lace and after inspecting the others noticed all eyelets wearing down as well as the shoe material where the laces moves over. The tread is harder than non forces but still wears quickly. And chunks off easier because its harder material.Minor delamination on the outsole also after only a few months.

Great Boot!
26 December 2023

I’ve had 6-7 pairs of these, some with GoreTex, some without depending on use. There have been about as many changes. I used to get Ranger Green until those became unavailable. Last two pairs, the pocket for speed laces was changed - preferred old style with laces NOT running through it and bottom access. Models with colored soles are non marking - black tread leaves marks on some surfaces. Comfortable and long wearing uppers. Usually replace insole every 3 mos. Rarely wear anything else.

Great improvement from last model
12 January 2023

I have been wearing this exact boot for a few years now. The first pair I had eventually got worn out so I bought a new pair. Upon opening the box and trying them on, I noticed a few changes. One of the biggest change was the string you pull that tightens the boot to your foot. Before, after tightening them you would tuck the excess string up underneath a pocket on the shoe tongue. It was a good design but had flaws. I often ended up with the strings falling down out of the pocket and having to re-tuck them multiple times throughout a work day. The new pair I received, the design is different and way better. Now after tightening the string, they tuck in from a pocket on the top of the boot tongue. It doesn’t seem like a major change but man it got really annoying ...Ā MoreI have been wearing this exact boot for a few years now. Horrible ordering Experience

When searching the site for these boots- as they were recommended- I encountered that instead of having medium and wide option on the boots they only said medium with no option to choose a wide version. So this is the only shoe site on the planet where you actually have to search by putting ā€œwideā€ in the search line. I placed my order and decided to try a medium as I thought that was the only option available. The boots were too narrow and once again no other site has such stupid rules- I can’t exchange them! I’m giving this a 5/5
20 March 2023

I’m giving this a 5/5 all the way around. Tactical Distributors are awesome, they answered all my questions & made sure I got the right thing. Order shipped super fast. Salomon forces rock, super sturdy and felt quality out of the box. I own Lowas, Bates, Danners. All good. Salomon is known for quality. Now, these are a little snug, I wear 11 and I feel like I should’ve gotten an 11.5 because the they are a bit narrow feeling and toe area feels kinda tight. Goretex model does leave the foot feeling a bit sweaty and it’s March & 30 degrees outside, I am dreading summer time lol. Still super stoked about the puncture proof sole great traction and remember, rule 1 look cool. I WILL BUY AGAIN, half size up and probably non goretex model for summer shenanigans.

Very Comfortable boot/ one design flaw
21 March 2024

The one design flaw this boot has is the metal ring that the shoe lace goes through at the top of the shoe. If there is any ware or damage to that metal ring it can shred the shoe lace making it virtually useless. I replaced the laces on my boot three time before just giving up. If you can figure out how to solve that issue this boot is worth it.As you can see in the picture just a little damage or warp to the metal ring can cause damage to the lace. For reference to how long it takes for damage to set in. I bought this boot December 19, 2023 and the damage happened in March 2024.But over all a very good boot that can last a long time if you are not hiking in the middle of the desert everyday like. me.
