Samson XPD2 Headset Microphone - USB Digital Wireless System

It isn’t a clear and obvious first choice in headsets but definitely a good purchase I don’t regret. The overall feel and finish of the product is 3 stars, feels a bit like a toy, and the sound seems to pause for just a moment now and then. So I can’t give it 5*, but 4* is right. Sound quality is definitely a step up over my Apple AirPods for Zoom, but i don’t have another headset to compare it too.

Extreme value; foolproof to use....

Purchased as part of a deal of the day promotion.Very high quality & ease of use. Like that you can also use with a lav or WL handheld, they also sell. Great Sound. Totally unreliable.

For a number of reasons I needed a wireless headset. I purchased this to be able to sync sound with my video as I recorded presentations, many times through OBS. Becasue I was away from my computer, I needed a wireless solution.This unit sounds fantastic. It is quiet and clear. AND IT ALWAYS HAS INTERFERENCE. I have tried everything. I contacted Samson and spent hours emailing back and forth. IT is interference, they said. So I made sure all bluetooh, phones and all other devicces were turned off. Still the same problem has consistently shown up.Their final offer was for me to return the unit and they would inspect it and let me know. No offer of replacement. I would buy this item again.

Bought this microphone headset for my wife. Due to all the changes that have taken place, and the affects on teaching. My wife needed something she could wak across the classroom, and not lose signal. This device has performed as expected. The clarity of her voice, no echoes, very impressive. And as stated, this device is a plug and play. The only change that was needed, was to set the microphone in the computer settings. All was explained in the provided documents.

Not what I expected

I have used the Samson XPD1for many years I have replaced it twice and each time the unit served me very well. Unfortunately this new xpd2 unit must have some sort of defect because when I film static gets in the way. Just in case we replaced our Apple adapter with a brand new one and still we have the static. Now maybe it’s just this particular unit that has some small defect and may be the new XPD2 system works well. But unfortunately Minè does not and I’m going to have to bring it back tomorrow.And we will replace it with a new Samson product

Really good mic for phone videos and for the Samson XPD plus

It came as described. With the exception of the headset size it was smaller not bigger than I expected. It would be a good idea to also get a lapel mic so you have the two options. But it is super easy to sync. It is great for YouTube videos with your phone super convenient, or to hookup to the Samson Expedition (Plus) it has to have the USB port to work with it.

I bought this to capture narration for yoga videos. So far, it's worked flawlessly. The transmitter connects instantly to the receiver and the signal has never dropped out. That said, transmitter/receiver have not been more than 12 feet apart in my usage.When plugged into a computer, the USB receiver was quickly recognized, and did not require installation of a special driver. I also used the 1/8 output jack to capture analog audio directly into a camcorder. (Note: 1/8 audio cable is NOT included.) It's nice to have the flexibility of both analog and digital capture, without additional equipment.How does it sound? For spoken-word capture, it's very good. The sound is clear and intelligible. Takes a while to get used to

The headset is so light you wouldn't know you're wearing it except for the fact that it doesn't really fit very well even after you finally figure out how to get it to stay in one place on your head and keep the microphone out of your mouth. If you have long hair, your positioning challenge will be greater. Experimentation will eventually lead to a fit that works for you. That said, the system works perfectly. You can easily roam and talk wherever you like--I could have walked farther away from the speaker except I ran out of room testing it in my small house. Audio quality is great for speaking, can't comment on singing as I don't do that (can't carry a tune in a bucket!). Pairing the microphone to the speaker requires a bit of patience. It doesn't always go as the directions say it will, but eventually you will inevitably stumble upon the correct combination of blinking/steady lights to pair up. I have not paired it enough times for the process to become second nature. I do feel confident that the correct sequence of events will become second nature with multiple uses. I do have some concerns about the longevity of the wire connecting the headset to the belt pack. It's so slim that it feels like an accidental strong tug could make it break loose from the connector. And, of course, the configuration of the connector is not anything standard, so replacing the wire probably would mean replacing the entire headset. Not exactly a cheap proposition. So take care with that wire and connector!

Why didn't I get this mic sooner for Virtual Classes?

I was having major Bluetooth problems with my AirPods for weeks. I reached out to one of my favorite Fitness Presenters and she said her favorite mic for teaching virtually was the Samson XPD2. When I contacted AV Now Customer Service, they were extremely helpful. I purchased the mic system as well as a heavier headset and am SO HAPPY. What a game changer! I only wished I purchased this system back in March 2020 when I started teaching virtual classes.

Works great for teaching yoga

I've only used it a few times but it works great for teaching yoga. I clip it onto my outer hip area/pants. The headset seems flexible enough so when you need to rest your head on its side on the ground, it flexes and doesn't fall off. BTW the headset wraps around your lower neck and the ear hoops go over your ears from down there. Don't wear it like a headband over the top of your head. :)
