Samsonite Freeform Expandable Hardside Luggage with Double Spinner Wheels

I needed a case that fit the airline specs, but held as much as possible. I tried out a lot of different carry-ons and decided on this one. The things I looked at were packing volume, weight, handle sturdiness and operation, and extra features. I spent time testing how they maneuvered when packed with a heavy load and had a heavy backpack on top. (The weight can make a real difference.)Being expandable was a requirement. That can require the carry-on to expand, as well.The carry-on is fairly light weight and has good volume for packing as much as possible. It has a side handle, as well as a top handle. That really helps me lift it up to place on a rack. The placement of the zip divider panel was better than in some of the other bags. Some of the other carry-ons I evaluated had the zip panel sewn in pretty far down below the zipper edge of the case. This really reduced the depth that is available for packing on that side. This case did a better job with that.

I really love my Samsonite Freeform Spinner for traveling. It’s well designed to carry plenty for traveling and the various compartments and pockets are maximized for optimal storage space. The straps are also useful for sectioning off parts of the suitcase. The suitcase itself is also constructed with high quality materials, so it is extremely durable and has lasted me multiple years of rigorous traveling. The hard-shell exterior is really nice at protecting your personal belongings from any signs of damage during traveling. Decent but not great

I like the appearance of this suitcase (I got the large navy). It seems to fit an appreciable amount based on what I packed for the 11 day international trip I’ve taken with it and I had 10 pounds and some space to spare.However, 2 things have me marking this as a 3-star and not higher. The first is the lock. The instructions on how to set it the first time have pictures only and no written words. Having never had a luggage lock like this type before, I was confused with setting it and accidentally changed the combo without knowing. Customer service was 0 help, telling me to take the bag to a locksmith. I figured out how to reset the combination entirely on my own. I’ve taken 1 flight with it so far- an international trip with 0 layovers. It was in new condition upon checking my bag. I got it back to scuffs and scratches all over the top part of it. This is to be expected with a hard shell suitcase. However, what I did not expect was the deep gash on the handle. If it had this much damage after 1 flight, I fear the handle will be broken sooner than later. I can deal with the other scuffs and scratches, but a broken handle will render the bag useless.I would recommend it if you can get it on sale like I did. But not at full price. Especially with the handle concerns.

Freeform luggage set

We purchased all 3 sizes looking to replace some older luggage.We recently used the Med sized bags for our trip to Europe. It appears the matte finish isn’t very durable and shows every single scratch on it. The stippling design easily scratched ed and flakes not the best look for a brand new bag. The rubber trim is somewhat flimsy as well. When we arrived back to our home airport one of the bag’s rubber trim was all bent out of shape from being transported or who knows what the TSA baggage handlers do to your luggage behind closed doors. Still the product should be designed to anticipate such rough handling especially from a manufacturer like Samsonite who used have a commercial stating not even an angry gorilla could damage their product. Horrible warranty no spare parts either

Warranty is a joke, you fill out so much paperwork and information and photos, then they ask you to ship your suitcase to tier repair shop paying for packaging and shipping for a 28" suitcase? You cannot even purchase the wheel and logo cover. Here is thier response.The parts necessary are not available, although we want to help! The next step is to send this to our authorized repair center for warranty evaluation. The repair center will inspect your product and you could receive one of the 4 outcomes below from the evaluation:1. If the product is repairable and covered under warranty, the product will be repaired at Samsonite's expense and returned to you.2. Low Quality product - refrain buying it.

I have been using Samsonite since my childhood days and regret to inform you that quality on Samsonite products have gone so bad that it just doesn’t make sense to pay higher price and get low grade product. We bought large & medium Freeform spinner set that on our first trip got scratched all over like a 5 year old product. These are not small but big scratches all around these bags. To be reasonable I would accept some scratches over time and many uses to justify it, however just using it once and dealing with ugly looking product after paying good money is not acceptable. Yes, checked in luggage doesn’t get handled well compared to carryons but that is the reason we buy Samsonite luggage. I was looking to buy a suitcase as a checked bag. I ended up buying the Freeform Medium Spinner because the specs say the overall (external) dimensions are 27.9in H x 19.6in L x 13.4in W. Nice size, but not confident it will last.

We took our first (domestic) flight using this large spinner bag and it had it's plusses and minuses. I like the lightweight nature and nice glide of the wheels when on smooth surfaces, such as the airport. There was ample room for one person's articles for a week-long trip. The expander option was nice and allowed for a few extra shirts and trousers. As mentioned previously, it glides nice on smooth surfaces, but once you take it outside on the sidewalk it does not navigate bumps easily. Additionally, the pop-up plastic handle twists and bends as you push the bag, and I was very worried the handle was going to snap off. This is the main reason I am giving this bag a 3/5 star rating. Quality & Durability Questionable!!!

I received the Freeform Carry-On Spinner as a birthday gift. When I opened the box I was elated because of the brand Samsonite one of the most well-known travel brands in the world! My thoughts were: it is a quality product and will be durable. Plus, I loved the color, the style, and the ease of motion. However, I was extremely wrong. I recently had an opportunity to use my brand new suitcase for the first time on a trip to Puerto Rico. To my dismay and utter dissatisfaction my brand new suitcase now looks like it has been through the wringer. It looks dirty, used, and abused after one single use.
