I don't know about others, but whenever I travel I prefer to travel with a carry-on bag only. I've had too many experiences with lost luggage when I've brought bags I had to check in. Most of which I was able to recover, (albeit after I had no clothing or essential items during my extended vacation and ended up having to buy everything I needrd at 3x the normal price because I was in a different country) but several of my bags I never got back and all the items I had in them are gone forever. So needless to say, I learned my lesson about checking bags the hard way, and unless it's unavoidable and I'm going out of town for an extended amount of time, I'm just not willing to take the risk of trusting my belongings to the disgruntled airline baggage employees anymore. Have you seen what really goes on behind the scenes with your luggage? If not, ignorance is bliss on that one and consider yourself lucky. I, for one, have friends who work shuttling luggage onto planes, and I will forever have an anxiety attack any time I have to check a bag. That's why I bought the Omni 2, it provides the maximum amount of space and compartments that TSA allows for a carry-on bag, so I have the peace of mind knowing my belongings are safe and sound and within an arms reach of me at all times. Even if it fell from the overhead compartment, the hard shell exterior and secured seperate storage inside keeps my belonging safe from any damage that would occur with a soft shell bag. I was hesitant on the price at first, but the peace of mind the Omni 2 has given me every time I travel is worth for more than the price of the bag. I don't even think about something bad happening to my luggage or the contents anymore, where I use to be constantly worried the entire flight there and back because past experiences gave me a reason to be worried. Now every trip is stress free, at least as far as my luggage goes. And believe me, nothing will ruin a vacation or business trip like reaching your destination and realizing you have no clothes, shoes, clean socks and undies, no makeup, no hygiene products, and you have no choice but to spend whatever money you had saved to enjoy your trip, having to buy basic necessities and expensive clothing with tourist marked up price tags. It will turn a dream vacation into an event that traumatizes you so you never want to travel again, and will completely ruin your confidence landing that new client/promotion you had spent days picking out exactly what to wear for that once in a lifetume business meeting. Not having any of those tragedies happen to you, is definitely worth a few hundreds bucks, trust me. You'll end up spending more buying all new items at your destination the first time anyway. So my advice, get the new Samsonite Omni 2 20" carry-on and travel wherever and whenever you want and never have to worry about your luggage again. It's worth the peace of mind, especially for those who travel frequently or would like to travel more often.

The shape of this size 20 carry on case is too big unfortunately for some airlines, unless you are travelling club class but I still think it's a good quality little case and love the fact the case is split evenly into two sections, with a zipped partition to stop items falling out when you open it. The handle bars take up a bit of the internal space but as with all the Omni range it can be expanded with a separate zip if you have overfilled it. It takes quite a bit of punishment if knocked about and is tough enough to withstand going into the hold. It glides very easily across smooth surfaces and the wheels seem sturdy enough. I use mine for walking holidays in Europe and the case gets thrown into a car every day to get taken to the next hotel and it has survived without damage.

I used to only ever have a full size suitcase and a duffel bag if I was only doing carry on. Never thought I’d truly use / enjoy a carry on suitcase, until I bought one. Since I’ve purchased this it’s basically all I’ve used. More protection than a duffel, easy to transport around airports and you don’t have a bunch of weight on one shoulder the whole time. I feel like I can pack more as opposed to the duffel bag. All around it has been awesome, I recently used this for a 10 day trip around Italy. I packed minimally but it was so nice to have this and not have to check a bag for international travel!!

I comparison shopped to find the perfect new suitcase for my changing needs. I own many incarnations in size, many of them Delsey. A recent trip with a 28" hardside latching case frame (no zippers) left me with an aching wrist after much pushing over cobbled walkway surface. I reluctantly conceded that I need to downsize how much I take and use a smaller 24" size. I already own that in a matching Delsey but the hardside case precludes expansion so too small. So many zippered bags are cheap in appearance and materials so I was happy to land on this, and my must that it be white was well executed. I couldn't believe the small price, to my delight. Very happy with the actual product.

Are spinner wheels that important - absolutely

I had read some reviews of people saying the spinner wheels weren’t that that great but thought it could be something that either I could overlook or not care that much about. I just took it on an international trip and I cannot tell you how much it actually mattered. The wheels aren’t really the 360-spinner easy glide, they are similar to shopping cart wheels in that they have to be facing the direction you want to push the suitcase. By the end of the trip my shoulder was killing me from struggling constantly trying to maneuver the suitcase to glide forward and ultimately completely stopped using it as a glider and ended up just pulling it along on two wheels - which probably made my shoulder feel worse. For this brand and this price point, this small feature should be a slam dunk no problem - but unfortunately it’s not.The plus side is that for its size it is roomy and I surprisingly fit more clothing and items than I had anticipated in a carry on. It also fit easily in overhead compartments.But due to the wheel issue I see myself passing on using this suitcase again and will just use others that I already own that actually glide, which is super disappointing.

Nice but very disappointed with tie down straps

These look nice, roll like a dream but the straps to hold your clothes in place are fixed length elastic. Loose elastic at that. They do not hold your clothes tightly in place so if you open the wrong side, everything falls out :(. I am used to fabric straps that loosen and tighten based on what you need and I pack neatly with the straps pulled tight. I hate them and haven't even left for my trip yet. Lesson learned; make sure to scrutinize the hold down straps before buying new luggage.
