Samsung has offered me a cash refund in the amount of $1,505 which will not cover the cost to replace the television at a third party retailer, resulting in me (the customer) being forced to pay an additional $240.80 out of pocket. I have spent countless hours on the phone with customer service, been disconnected multiple times (their transfer link hangs up when transferring to the refunds department) with no callback, and their representatives have been unhelpful, rude, extremely hard to understand their English, and combative. This is a breach of their contractual obligation to warranty their product for a year.

Turns out, the low profile design requires a massive 14inx5inx3in box the TV needs to plug into to connect to the wall. No way that will fit behind the TV when mounted on a wall in place of a picture. In fact, we have a specific wall built for the TV with an outlet 6ft high, so the cord will not be seen behind the TV. In fact, one could argue Samsung has falsely advertised this TV with their marketing images and lack of description of the box.2nd, while the image quality and matte screen are the quality we expect from Samsung, the actual reality of the display has been disappointing. The photo images are backlit so much, that in a dark room, the TV picture still lights up the whole room. Not good for sleeping. They have a motion sensor setting, which turns the image off, until the dog runs in or someone gets up for the bathroom at night. Then, lights up whole room. So now we just keep it off, and now it just looks like a TV on the wall, with a cord running out, and a brown colored frame that does not really go with the solid black screen. It's actually ugly. All in all, super disappointed, and would not recommend this TV because it is not as advertised. Just buy another Samsung TV for half the price, or even another brand for 1/3 the price, and you'll be just as good and get a better value and experience. Plus with Google app, you can still upload a photo. We are pulling the TV off the wall, putting a picture back up, and now just using the "Picture Frame" TV as an ordinary overpriced gimmick TV.

Good TV suffers from bad OS and art interface

Use a 3rd party ultra thin VESA mount if not interested in auto-rotation.- Alexa DOES NOT FUNCTION when the display is mounted vertically, which is ridiculous. Pressing the voice button gives an on-screen error saying it's only available in landscape (see photo 1).- Many apps refuse to launch in portrait, including Netflix and Prime Video.- The Samsung TV Plus interface doesn't utilize the full height of the screen in places it really should while watching TV. The interface is cut off for no reason in some places as well (see photo 2).- Switching between apps and favorited TV plus channels takes too many steps. Someone at Samsung must go and revise the interface in both the TV's home pages and Samsung TV Plus to simplify things.Art mode issues:- Samsung's Art mode shop does not separate portrait (vertical) art at all, making it impossible to locate available artwork except by manually reviewing EVERY SINGLE available art piece. God forbid they provide a search filter, or icon to differentiate them.- There are only a handful of vertical art pieces available out of the thousands of art pieces listed. Paid art membership price is NOT worth it if you only plan on vertically mounted displays (see photo 3). You will need to upload your own.- Samsung's Art mode only has a single 'favorites' section, meaning both portrait and landscape pieces end up in the same group. This makes a mess for those with multiple TVs. We need be able to have multiple saved art groupings for both mood and screen orientations.- The 'change channel' remote button does nothing in art mode, one would think it would quickly swap between queued art pieces without a disruptive UI popup. Just displays an error.- There is no way to set a default 'matte' style for displayed art, meaning each art piece in rotation must have its matte option manually set. Sadly, the shadow box version seems to be default (see photo 3 for shadow matte, photo 4 for other style).- The great looking complimentary art and animations function well in vertical mode cannot be added to favorites and thus cannot be rotated through with the paid artworks.- Samsung support seems to be pretty clueless about art mode, membership fees not listed on Samsung account site etc :(Other gotchas:- 32" model has a shorter/thicker OneConnect cable than newer models. No one has any idea what the length actually is before purchasing.- The optional bezels are very expensive for what they are, but are designed not to block the sensor/remote control system on the display.- While you are technically able to, you should not run the OneConnect cables behind walls outside a protective cable conduit. Follow your local regulations.

The screen looks great and even though I don't have a soundbar on this tv, when I chose adaptive sound I could immediately hear the difference in quality. In testing all the pre-loaded apps, Netflix was the only one the didn't work which was frustrating as it is the most used. I tried updating and reinstalling the app which didn't help. I contact Samsung support which was available even though it was late at night, definately a plus. Unfortunately all the same troubleshooting steps didn't work and I had to factory reset the tv which resolved the issue, indicating the problem occurred during setup. Otherwise it's a great tv and can't wait to have it mounted to make the most out of the slim design and easy cable management.

Went 3 out of 5 starts on this one. I bought a 55" Samsung Frame TV. It's very pretty and the picture on the TV when being used to look like a piece of art is fantastic!....but we don't use it to display art nearly as much as we thought we would, if ever. We have had it for about a month now. 99% of the time when anyone is home it is used to watch something on TV like Netflix or Amazon Prime. I love the fact that it came with it's own mount and when it is mounted it is super close to the wall. Much nicer than a bulky wall mount that you can see, plus it came withvtge TV. All the auxiliary connections are seperate from the TV and are in a box about 14 inches wide, 6 inches deep and 4 inches tall. Evertyrhing connects to the box including the power and there is just 1 small wire that connects the auxiliary box to the TV to supply it all. It would be super convenient if I ever need to connect or disconnect something because it's all taken away from the back of the TV, but let's be honest, how offten do we go to the back of the TV? I just plug in something once like a video game console, computer or what ever and never go back there again. Also, if you wanted to have zero wires going to the TV, you would need to build a box in the wall with an electrical outlet to hold the auxiliary box as that is how you supply power to the TV.The picture quality when showing art is great as well as when watching TV. The flat mat finish on the screen makes everything look great and is really enjoyable to watch! The smart TV technology is just ok. It has all the bells and whistles as most TVs on the market but I still can't figure out how to install some 3rd party apps. Most of if not all the time we run the TV off an Amazon firestick to have access to some of the apps we had on the precious TV.I have almost have Samsung for everything and love all of it but at the end of the day I pretty much paid an exra $1000 buck for a TV to be able to clip a piece of plastic on the edge to make it look like a picture frame(which I also had to buy) and we don't use it to show art. I don't think it was worth it.

My experience this week with a 2024 43" FRAME
14 May 2024

The Samsung rep at the St Catharines Best Buy store assured me that despite a dirth of official Samsung online information on the topic, the 2024 43" model could indeed be hung vertically, permanently, on a wall, and when fed a 2160x3840 image, would present it to the viewer in full screen Portrait mode.So I crossed my fingers and ordered it from their online store. It arrived via Purolator to my condo door two days later, and was light enough that I could pull it out of the box myself and set it up on the included stand. I then used my Ipad to scroll thru my 600,000 travel photos stored in Google Photos, and picked out dozens for a 43" Frame vertical trial display, to prove the concept.I used the Apple Ipad app "Image Size" to convert my selected travel JPEG ... MoreThe Samsung rep at the St Catharines Best Buy store assured me that despite a dirth of official Samsung online information on the topic, the 2024 43" model could indeed be hung vertically, permanently, on a wall, and when fed a 2160x3840 image, would present it to the viewer in full screen Portrait mode.So I crossed my fingers and ordered it from their online store. I then used my Ipad to scroll thru my 600,000 travel photos stored in Google Photos, and picked out dozens for a 43" Frame vertical trial display, to prove the concept.I used the Apple Ipad app "Image Size" to convert my selected travel JPEG photos to the needed 2160x3840 size, and then downloaded them with the Apple Files app to a Sandisk 128Gb USB-A/C thumb drive. I then pulled the USB drive out of the Ipad type C port, and used its type A port end to stick into the Frame's One Connect box.I then powered on the Frame and went to the Connected Devices menu option and selected the Sandisk USB drive input port. The TV then displayed my photo thumbnails, and i toggled to a photo, and pressed Enter. That photo then displayed in the middle third of the horizontal screen, with dark bands on left and right thirds, as expected. The moment of truth had now arrived.I picked up the TV gently, and turned it vertically, while my wife reported on what she was seeing. After a few seconds, she exclaimed it flipped into full screen Portrait mode. Great joy! So indeed the Samsung rep spoke truth: the TV detects the flip and does its thing...the whole reason we got the TV. I held it vertical for over 5 minutes just to verify it stayed in Portrait mode - and it did. Whew. (Note, the automatic Flip to Portrait Image only seems to occur in one TV physical vertical flip direction, so learn which way - left side up or right side up - before mounting permanently).Standard Apple Iphone Portrait mode photos can be displayed in this manner too, or really any photo that the "Image Size" app is fed. Note that all photos will display in a (dull?) matte finish, not in a flashy-bright mode, which is fine by us. And truly little or no glare that we can notice so far, compared to a regular TV we have nearby. Now knowing Portrait mode worked via USB input, it was time to try My Photos in the ART mode option of the TV. So I fired up the SmartThings app on the Ipad, picked the Art option, and scrolled down to My Photos. A tap on that brought up an Ipad screen wherein the bottom right has a Plus icon that lets me pick photos from my Ipad-stored photos - and then tap Add at the top right. (If you just get a spinning/busy icon, just flick away the app, and restart it..that worked for me). You next get a screen with Mat options to pick, then "Set on Frame" which transmits the photo(s) to the Frame's (4 GB? 🤷‍♂️) memory. And voila...it all worked! The Portrait Mode photos look great. So I'll be online ordering a companion 50" model this week for horizontally wall-mounted Landscape Mode displays, next to this vertically wall-mounted 43" Portrait Mode unit.

Nintendo Switch and TV not compatible?
15 December 2023

We bought this TV in November of 2021 as a splurge for ourselves. We had our last TV for 8 years and it was still going strong, but we were moving into a different space where the TV would be quite central so we decided the cost was worth it for the form and function. Ambient modes don’t work and glitch when we try. The keyboard will not pop up on the screen so we are not able to search for things on apps unless the app has its own keyboard (Netflix doesn’t work, Amazon Prime does, etc.). The keyboard will not pop up on the screen so we are not able to search for things on apps unless the app has its own keyboard (Netflix doesn’t work, Amazon Prime does, etc.). We tried to warranty the TV with Samsung. They connected to it and tried to diagnose the issue, but couldn’t and since it was just past the 1 year mark, they said it wasn’t their problem and we would have to pay for repair. We took it to a TV repair man in our city and he had never seen an issue like this. His only idea was to replace the main board in the screen. $500+ later, the TV was working. A couple days later, we played the Nintendo Switch and the next day the TV had all the same problems again. We are now out $500 and still have an almost new broken TV. We decided to try to warranty through our Credit Card as it extends the warranty by a year but they are saying they won’t replace it because our repair man mentioned the Nintendo Switch in his diagnostic report, therefore it’s apparently not the covered. It makes no sense that plugging in a game console would wreck the insides of a “good quality” TV. We don’t know if that was what did it, but either way this TV is GARBAGE and we are stuck with it. No matter how much I love the idea and look of this TV, I don’t see how I can recommend this TV or company to anyone as we are so disappointed in the product and more so, in the unwillingness of Samsung to make this right.

Screen quality lacking amongst other qualities.
25 September 2024

I'm sure some rave about this TV, sure those individuals probably have the newest tech on everything too. However this TV is an overpriced underwhelming product. I gave it a solid month before calling a quits. I wouldn't say I hate it because the features of "home base" screen are nice but that's about it. The item is heavy you'd think it light weight but nope, it also come with an "ol' ball and chain" additional black box. Wires are just about the standard on other TV's. We purchased this with an educators discount targets is loosing customers base catering to the insane 1% crybaby population and they offered 20% off the additional sale price of 1199 so I paid around 900 and that's still overpriced. The screen changes color it did this often from crystal clear to ... MoreI'm sure some rave about this TV, sure those individuals probably have the newest tech on everything too. The screen changes color it did this often from crystal clear to dull. I thought this was from the Internet buffering possibly slowing down the picture quality, NOPE! It did it with streaming platforms, with blurays, with local stations, connected to Internet and not connected. We first noticed it doing this while watching groundhogs day the scene where the mans choking and the room is a warm cozy red hue, it suddenly changed to a dull color. At first we thought it was Internet so we backed up the show and started the scene over this time the whole scene was dull. We then started noticing it down this during several shows. Altogether you can purchase a cheaper TV and get better features. Most like myself were attracted to the wall art feature, however there's still a glare still sound issues, still have to download art through the app (they don't tell you that) oh and the remote is tiny and white. This TV quality didn't impress me much especially at the asking price. Wish someone had a review such as mine so I could've made a better decision. Going back to my small 8 year old Vizio for now and I'll continue to hunt for a better product.

The Samsung Frame TV: A Thousand Words and More
5 April 2024

The Samsung Frame TV is the best addition to my home for so many reasons. The Frame TV’s showstopper is the Art Mode feature, however, there are so many other features that make this TV a one of a kind device.Unboxing and set up of the TV proved to be so easy thanks to the included quick set up instructions. The TV is light enough that I was able to unbox and set up by myself. The TV comes with everything you need to either mount the TV on the wall or stand up on a table or console. The mount is compact and the feet to stand the TV up are easy to attach and detach. The color is so vibrant and clear as it has 4K UHD. The sound is incredible and doesn’t fade in or out while watching a movie. The sound is incredible and doesn’t fade in or out while watching a movie. The settings allow the sound to increase when other sounds in the room get louder. For example, while vacuuming in the room, the sound increased due to the vacuum noise. I am so impressed with this technology. The TV’s Art Mode is spectacular. It allows your TV to become an art piece when you’re not watching TV. The screen has a matte display so there are no glares. This ensures the picture mimics a piece of art. There are preloaded works of art to display or a subscription is available. To add art to the library, simply use the Smart Things app to upload the art, even your own photographs can be added. The TV is slim which adds to the look of a painting. There are many options to actually frame the TV, including bezels and frames which are sold separately. The Samsung Frame TV is definitely a conversation piece in our home. Like they say, a picture is worth a thousand words and this product is worth a thousand more.

Was ok until warrantee ended…
20 August 2024

Had for 2.5 years (purchases 55inch Frame) , left side of screen is now much darker than the right. Searching around seems to be a fault of the back lit LED (tried all Samsung support suggestion of factory restart, leave unplugged over night, reinsert one connect etc). Of course is out of warrantee (1 year warranted, should have been a red flag TBH but I missed that), panel replacement cost is more then a new TCL. Also TV guide is slow and buggy (I have enterprise NBN 200MGB up/down with wifi 6 router 1m from the TV and speed test regularly achieve 130mgb+ so its not a connection issue just rubbish hardware/firm ware). Smart things app is slow and clunky, often cannot find the TV when standing with in 2 m of it and when it does think its connects all function fail ... MoreHad for 2.5 years (purchases 55inch Frame) , left side of screen is now much darker than the right. Never again samsung, I’ll be buying products base on warrantee offered (no I’m not going to pay for extended warrantee just find company’s that back their own products for more then a year) from now on. For my basic needs (streaming Bluey and Playschool) I won’t notice the difference between pseudo-quality and genuine cheap with a 3 year warrantee. Have tried to reach out to Samsung directly but all contact option require log in and creating an account (for some reason my smart things account details aren’t good enough, need to create a whole new account!!!) so have given up and just leave you with a 1 star review. Off to buy a TCL via the tip for dropping off this rubbish. Admitted it does look good with the wood look edging, can’t fault the aesthetic when its turned off.
