The SPEEEEEED. Making the move to the 970 PRO was a bit iffy for me as it was my first venture in the M.2 socket drives. I have never looked back from my first boot. The amount of speed and responsiveness I get from the drive is light years ahead of any of my previous SSD drives and we won't even talk about the difference over the old fashion platter drives. For most people, the 512GB 970 PRO will be more than enough for every day use. If you're looking for a LOT of storage space, you may want to bump it to the 1TB version or look at an external drive for things like music, pictures, and documents that you need or want to hold on to. I have had zero regrets with this drive and I'm quite sure you won't either.

PM981a is great ssd from a reliable brand. With its high read and write speed, you can use this for work and mixed recreational use like streaming and gaming. Additionally, the 512GB is great storage for files and applications that require high usage of CPU and GPU like adobe premiere pro/rendering videos of 720 HD etc. The retail price for such M.2. sticks with this storage capacity is very expensive, so its a pretty much a bargain at this price. With the 3D NAND-TLC for ease of production and using a 1.3 NVME interface, it is lighting fast and has nice endurance for long-term use. It is HIGH UNLIKELY you will find this quality of SSD with at such a price. What are you waiting for?

Two drive were the 1tb version and the third a 256gb version. They 1tb are faster, but not anything I could notice in day to day usage. Only running Crystal Diskmark on all my drives showed a difference, with all exceeding 3000mbs and the 1tb exceeding 3200mbs. I am very pleased with their quality, 5 year warranty, and performance. Everything is faster, especially Online web pages load instantly. Even the performance of my 5 year old Graphis Card rated better somehow. But that could be due to the new Gigabyte X470 MB and Ryzen 7 2700x 8 Core/16 thread CPU too? Regardless I recommend these drives to any one who's MB supports full M.2 Nvme & PCIe 3.0. These are not the Sata non Nvme versions which are limited to 550-600gps maximum due to the limits of Sata.
I was running a 960 PRO NVMe M.2 500GB in an M** Z370 Sli Plus. I ran short of storage space and added the 970 PRO NVMe M.2 1TB. I used the Samsung data migration tool to move everything over from the 960 to the 970 and now use the 960 as extra storage. The transfer was extremely fast from 960 to 970 and everything went well with no problems. I was really impressed by the 970. I did not think I would notice much difference, but wow, with the same bios settings for fast boot that the 960 was using, my boot time is crazy fast and read and writes, according to Samsung Magician, are much better than the 960.I recommend this product and would purchase it again.
Good Points: Quick - depending on what settings you can use ie x4 or standard. This will depend on the number of expansion slots you are already using, sata hard drives installed and lanes your motherboard allows. Do some research and ask some questions of your motherboard suppleir before diving in. Rliability unable to comment so a 5, its new hard to say but does have a 5 year or xTB transfer warranty.Improvement Points: Restricts the number of expansion slots and/or sata hard drive slots depending on the number of lanes your motherboard has.I seem to be having resource issues between the .m2 slots and cpu. Seem to have yellow exclamation marks next to CPU driver, unresolved but system runs fine. Not getting the transfer rates advertised. to be continued...
Overall I would be happy if I could run it at declared speed. With my Intel® NUC Kit NUC8i7BEH it is recognised only as PCIe x2, so running only half of bandwidth. And so achieving only half of the speed, and so not getting value for money. After contacting Intel I have been told to get Firmware update from Samsung. On the Samsung website I can find long list of Samsung SSD firmware updates, just not for SSD 970 PRO NVMe M.2. I will be happy to update this review if/when this issue is resolved and this SSD will be working as PCIe x4 as expected.
SSD Drive works great. Item is as described. Thank you
Awesome value, cheaper tha the Samsung Evo range but almost identical specification. Works great! Spo much fast than my internal HDD it replaced. Had difficulty cloning and then booting WIn10 with the internal HDD still installed, which I wanted it to be, but this is a Windows issue, not a SDD issue. Got there eventually. Would like to benchmark against an Evo model on my own computer so as to get an comparison of how it would run for me. Online benchmarks impressive but I can match online benchmarks others have posted with any device/part! This is the OEM model Samsung manufacture for hardware brands such as Dell, Lenovo, HP so it's difficult to find the correct drivers though the Win10 drivers seem to work fine. The Samsung drivers and Apps available from Samsung are almost all for the Evo cards & don't detect or work with this model but they don't seem necessart. The cloning software would've been nice but there's heaps available online to download if you don't want to use "dd".
