Having spent the last two weeks on an S22+ I can say there are significant differences between the "A" line and "S" line. Everything the A14 does it does slower than the S galaxy line. Start-up is slower, opening apps is slower, scrolling speed, everything! The A14 lags a bit on every reaction and it becomes very noticeable and almost annoying when coming from a higher end Galaxy. The A14 display is average and is no way near as crisp as the Super Amoled screen of the higher end galaxies. The phone has a cheaper plastic, hollow like feel, although I like the textured rear as it offers a nice grippy surface. There is no wireless charging although it does offer fast wired charging. I came to the Galaxy A14 5G from a Moto Edge 5G UW. One might think of this as being a downgrade, but I really don't think it has been. While no where near as powerful as the Edge, this phone hasn't given me any troubles in day to day usage. I can watch videos, browse the web, message, call... pretty mich do everything my old phone did. But the big reason I love this device so much is the battery. With less power to push, it easily lasts me an entire day of use and I am literally on my phone nearly all the time. This is even with the refresh rate set to 90hz. Oh yeah, it does that too. Everything looks nice and smooth on screen. In terms of cameras, this phone is leagues ahead of the supposed 100+ megapixel sensor that the Edge had. It takes better pictures on ... It takes better pictures on nearly all situations and I don't have to worry that my photos are going to come out horrible with it. Despite the 50 megapixel sensor, the photos this thing takes are top notch. It's super up to date with Android 13 currently, but with guaranteed Android updates all the way to Android 15, I feel confident that I'm not just going to end up having to get a new phone again in a year. Software and security are important, so this is a huge selling point for me.Sure, it's not a Galaxy S23 Ultra, but you're not paying that kind of money for it either. At $199 retail, I heartily recommend this phone to anyone who doesn't need the most blazing fast performance and just wants a phone that will last them through all they want to do.
There are three main things I'm loving about my Samsung so far. I've already multiplied my storage space with a micro SD card, my battery can last several days even with a lot of streaming, and the interface is amazing. Samsung One UI is not only aesthetically pleasing, it's very intuitive AND offers so many options for customization. This is my first Samsung and it hasn't been nearly as difficult as I expected to adjust to a new interface. As far as the A14 5G in particular, so far everything is operating quickly and smoothly. When I'm scrolling or switching between apps, it's very fast and smooth to the eyes. This phone has handled everything I do on a daily basis better than my previous phone which was twice the price. There are too many features about my new phone I'm enjoying to list here, but all told I'm glad I made the switch and I hope to enjoy my Samsung for a long time.
We bought this phone for one purpose only to have Wi-Fi calling because we live up north in a remote area where there is no cell reception. The sales rep. assured us that the phone is capable of Wi-Fi calling and he even said that it was enabled in the phone app. However, when we got home up north, we realized that the phone app does not nor indicates have W-Fi calling . We called our cell phone provider to see if our monthly plan includes Wi-Fi calling. They assured us that it should not have any effect and we should be able to use Wi-Fi calling as long as we have Wi-Fi connection. We spent three hours searching google and watching YouTube videos on how to activate Wi-Fi calling on this phone, but nothing worked. We called Best Buy's Geek Squad and they took us through a shorter path to check to see if the phone has Wi-Fi calling, and based on their assistance we realized that the phone does not have Wi-Fi calling. What is disappointing for us is that we spend a lot of money with buying protection, as well, to wanting to get a product that was suppose to serve our need. INSTEAD, we were sold a product that is basically useless for our need. I called the Manager, She told me that based on Google this product has Wi-Fi calling, and after 10 minutes on the phone with her I realize that the Geek Squad were more knowledgeable than her. After telling her that we purchased protection plan, she gave us 30 days to return the phone but with no guarantees whether any Best Buy will switch to another phone with Wi-Fi calling capabilities. We have to take a flight from our remote community to get to an urban setting with a Best Buy store being there. She didn't even care about that! She did not even know about the product's capabilities that her representative sold to us. The sales representative was not fully honest. She did care about that neither! This is not appreciated. NOT HAPPY!NOT a BEST BUY!
The Samsung A14, on first appearance the phone is well built, solid and metal casing giving it a nice weight and certainly not a plastic feel. I chose silver and it is a nice colour. The phone is a good size and is a large screen not fully edge to edge but close. On initial startup it loads and gives the usual options of linking to other phones or other cloud based backups which was easy as offers both IOS and Android solutions. I transferred my contacts easily and the phone was up and running after the usual software update within about 20 minutes. In use the phone works well has dual sim slots and Sd card slot for extra storage in the pull out tray. The camera is good given the price tag and takes a good range of photos using the three lenses. In use the phone works well has dual sim slots and Sd card slot for extra storage in the pull out tray. The camera is good given the price tag and takes a good range of photos using the three lenses. The photos do not match up to more expensive models but for this price I would not have expected them to. The phone can seem to lack speed on some apps in comparison to other models on the market but not sure if this is operating system or processor based lag. Playback of videos is very good and the screen itself is very clear in use. I am not a great gamer but it plays the usual versions of some of my favourites just as well as other phones. The battery life has been very good although I am not running half the social media apps I normally use to see how the phone coped. The only complaint I would have other than the odd bit of Lag in some apps is the home screen scrolling, as trying to get to apps can be a bit confusing as it seems to scroll sideways and up and down so trying to locate some of my Apps is been very frustrating knowing which way to swipe! All in all for the price tags this is a good budget phone, easy to setup, good imaging and plenty of additional storage can be added via the card slot. I just wish they would add a plug for a USB C connector please as it seems everything these days gets supplied with just a cable and no mains adapter or plug unit!
I am a senior in highschool, active in many clubs and all. The phone is reliable to easily write my work, there's even a qr scanner button in the menu(it's great because we use qr codes to promote events). The camera quality is great, even suggests some options while taking photos. For example: I take pictures of papers to file online and when taking the picture; it shows a outline of the paper to show if you have it evenly displayed. When I had to transfer everything from my old phone to this current one, it was so simple to do everything within 25 minutes. Puts the same wallpaper and settings you had in your previous phone. Storage is great too(64 type). The only thing I have an issue with is just some apps you can't really delete because it comes in the phone. Although, the good thing is, is that it doesn'tdoesn't eat up your storage. I tend to not use those apps so I have no issue at the moment.Would recommend getting the phone, especially if it's work related. Also recommend getting a stylus pen if you would write digitally.
I bought this galaxy a14 5g 3 weeks ago, I know I'm behind in a more updated phone but compared with the super slow LG k40 I was still using for circumstances out of my control. This samsung galaxy has me surprised for what comes in it and the speed as well for a affordable price. What I did not like at all it's they dont included the home wall charger brick! A couple days I was at the farmacy and see what they have for electronics so I tried one that had the right amps/ watts output rating, it was on special for 7 bucks, came home and it did charged my phone in about 4.5 hours to 100% charge and it seemed to last longer the phone charged still not what I expected from a new phone and technology improved since it supposedly is "super fast charge" capable!
This Samsung device has really set the bar high as far as everyday needs, wants, haves, and no have-nots. I wake up to the perfect alarm tone provided by Samsung, I use the timer when brushing my teeth, turn on the Samsung music app and get ready for the day. Samsung knows what to play and it's all I use. After I leave the house I Samsung Bluetooth connect to my car, get my Samsung news traffic report and away I go. At work my phone is my assistant, my right hand, and never let's me down with the 1000's of useful apps that can only be described as "a cut above the rest" Samsung widgets keep me on point and fast when certain subjects come up, others may have to open phone, open app, open page. Not with my Samsung, I glance at my phone and open to what I need right ... MoreThis Samsung device has really set the bar high as far as everyday needs, wants, haves, and no have-nots. Not with my Samsung, I glance at my phone and open to what I need right away. Need to adjust my volume levels individually, Samsung has me covered. Samsung makes it so user-friendly with the system they use and I wouldn't know what I would do without them. Every call is clear because of the speakers they use and I never hear anyone asking me to repeat myself because the microphone technology is superior and nothing else like it. From sun up to sun down my Samsung device will not let me down. The battery has to be the best batteries made for a phone, I'm on my phone all day and with the screen bright I still have battery life left. I don't even need to charge it everyday so the battery life and health is perfect.. PERFECT, that's my overall description of MY Samsung device. Thank you
