I purchased a Galaxy A71 unlocked phone that was delivered on 11/7/22. The phone seems to function as advertised, so far. However, the USB cable is defective and had me pulling my hair out to figure out what was wrong for the last 3 days as it was cutting in/out of charging mode when connected to the surge protected wall plug and would not register at all as a USB/file transfer connection on the computer. When connected to the computer it would start charging, but not USB connect for file transfers at all with error messages that no USB was attached even though that's how it was charging at the time. I borrowed a different cable which instantly resolved the issues. So, the troubleshooting is indeed correct. USB cable is defective and I would like a replacement ASAP. ... MoreI purchased a Galaxy A71 unlocked phone that was delivered on 11/7/22. The phone seems to function as advertised, so far. I tried to call the company to request a replacement but only got voice mail with no identifying information for the company. I also sent an email through the platform to the vendor requesting the same. I was super hesitant to purchase a refurbed/unlocked phone to start with so the fact that a simple defective cable was included with my purchase was a worrisome disappointment. The phone itself appears to be quality. It's just a shame that defective cables were included that could make someone less tech savvy fear that they wasted their money. At least make sure the cables are quality when sending out a refurbed/unlocked phone so someone doesn't think the entire phone was a regretful purchase.

I bought an A71 last week, simply because it said "open box" and comes with manufactures warranty. When the item arrived, there was no original packaging. Both front and back glass were loose and it came open. I took it to a smasung dealer and they found out that the panels were not OEM and someone has worked on the phone and has not put glue and sealant. They would not even repair it because physical damage is not under warranty. If it was genuinely an open box like in the description, it wouldnt have happened.I returned the product today and is expecting a full refund at the earliest.I suggest Best Buy should throughly vet their vendors before putting them on the website. I can buy a better quality used phone from a local repair shop!

Have had the A71 5G for almost a month, after coming from a CDMA LTE Moto G6 smartphone. I'm overall happy with it. The condition had a few surface scratches that are only noticeable when the phone is off. The phone is narrow enough to be comfortable in the hand, but tall enough to make display viewing overall better. Before I activated the phone, I went through and disabled apps I wouldn't use, uninstalled a few more, opened developer options to disable automatic background system update, turned off wifi, and just got a feel for the phone and where all the settings are. Since I didn't want to use Tracfone service any longer as their hotspot enabling service changed when Verizon took them over last year, I went with RedPocket. After activating the phone I called my husband for our weekly talk as he works away from home. The phone got warm in the upper left hand corner to where I kept the phone to my right ear, as holding it to my left ear would rest on the warm area. My Motorola and previous phones have never become warm like that during long phone calls, as in one spot. So that is the only negative about this unit, otherwise I am pleased with it.I live in the country where only cellular data service is available, so I use this phone as a hotspot device for my laptop or desktop.I'm avoiding doing the Android 12 June 2022 update as there is a bug in that system update that effects this phone concerning the SIM card (g s m arena reviewers talk about it), which is why I enabled developer options to disable automatic system update when WiFi is on. I'd like to wait and see if that bug gets fixed before doing any system updates. I did update the apps through goo play store. The camera takes very good pictures, but it is still too new for me to give you an opinion on it. It takes better pictures than my moto g6 phone. Living in Arkansas, it will be a while before I can tell you about 5G connectivity. I set network connection to 3G/4G/LTE. Talking on phone sounds good. My Bluetooth iJoy headphones work with it and my husband says they do not echo like as when I used them with my moto phone. A bit pricey, but I wanted a 5G capable phone for long-term future use for when it does come here, and most 5G capable phones cost over 200 dollars.

I've had my phone for maybe 8 months and haven't had any big issues. An occasional hiccup here and there that is always resolved by restarting the phone. And that doesn't happen very often anyway. Instead I've been pleasantly surprised by how good of a phone it is for how much it cost. I feel like I got a lot of bang for my buck. I was already pretty loyal to Samsung, mainly due to the influence of my mom. She's also a happy customer and has been for years. My experience with this phone has only helped make me feel the brand loyalty too. My only complaint, if you can call it that, is that I have not received the Android 13 update. I've seen in multiple places that my phone is supposed to get it and others with my phone have gotten it. But then the invite to do this popped up and I decided I wanted to say some good things. So I'll go back and see if I can find what I'm looking for when Im finished here.
I feel that the discription hard use condition was overstated; display screen is very clean; almost perfect. Case does show heavy wear but with the case protector I placed it in those "wounds" are unnoticeable. Nice machine. Thanks.
It's just okay for me, but it better last a LONG time for the price I paid. Phone is taller than my previous phone and doesn't fit nicely hidden in my rear pocket anymore. It is super slippery and jumps out of my rear pocket every time I sit down (so forget pocketing the phone when wearing dress pants!). Finding an inexpensive case from retail stores is pointless-- none in stock except for one $50 clear case. Apparently there are three similar 5G phone models (based on carrier), but none use the same case size-- really? And then there are the non-5G models whose cases are also different. The edges of the phone are too sensitive-- I cannot hold my phone without my fingers affecting something on the display. The edges of the phone are too sensitive-- I cannot hold my phone without my fingers affecting something on the display. The screen brightness setting (slider) is buried two levels down (have to swipe down from the top, swipe down again and then go to the bottom of the screen for the slider). To unlock the screen with a passcode requires a four-step process (double-tap the screen, swipe the screen, enter passcode, press OK). Lots of the typical bloatware that I don't want and will never use. The display icons in the top edge of the phone are too small (I still haven't figured out the icon between the cell signal and wi-fi because I can't see/read it. I wish the date were displayed at the top of the Notification bar next to the time. I do like that the phone has a headphone jack. I like the ability to add a micro-SD memory card. Although it was not a selling point at the time, it would have been nice to have the wireless charging option (this phone doesn't) especially for the price of the phone. There was no trade in offer for this A71 5G model at the retail T-Mobile store, but there was for the A51 model-- not sure why. Camera is okay, although the controls at the bottom 1/3 of the display don't allow me to touch on that area of the photo to focus or set the brightness. I don't know what Bixby Voice is, but I don't want it and it keeps wanting me to activate it (when I press the side key button too long) even though I disabled it. The side key on my previous phone was able to power off the phone when pressed-and-held-- this phone doesn't do that. I have to unlock the phone screen, swipe down, touch the power off icon, and press another power off icon to turn off the phone. Bottom line is that I have a bunch more steps to follow for most features on this phone than my previous 'ancient' phone required.
Developer support is trash. The cameras have the lousiest software support which is disappointing. There is a developer fourm and I have made a thread there about getting the cameras to work in literally any other app besides the default one but after a few months I have gotten only one response which was unhelpful. One of the main reasons I chose this phone is for the cameras, but they are kinda bad. The default camera app has no raw capability and it's the only thing you can shoot 64MP photos with. The 64MP images look horrific and terribly compressed, I have put my phone on a 100% solid stable tripod and used the timer to get the most still, sharp photos possible, but they still look awful. All the other cameras are bad and the macro one is sorta neat, but you end up actually getting more detail by cropping a 64MP image than actually using the macro camera. Should have been traded for a telephoto camera. None of the other cameras show up to the Android Camera 2 API and I have had some issues with raw photos, which have been semi-patched over the single update they have released. Yeah, that's another thing, they can be fixing these and working on bringing Android 11 to the device but they aren't. The only camera app change I have noticed is the night photography mode button. Nothing else was changed and the last update has been 3 months ago. In fact, that update actually made things a lot worse and now the camera has horrific auto focus issues. Sometimes, it automatically focuses and is super sharp. But 99% of the time it has a stroke and moves back and forth over and over. It is the worst they really need to fix it. The plus side is that you can at least shoot raw and long exposures with other apps, I was able to get a 30 second exposure before the camera would return an error. By default though the API reports a much shorter exposure time than that, and you need to manually give it a long exposure. Anyway, the phone has good specs but it still freezes sometimes. The AR support is a bit weird and I don't want to blame Google or Samsung in particular, but everything drifts a lot. The on-screen fingerprint scanner is cool and faster than trying to find it on the back of my old phone, but it is still inaccurate and I always have to put my finger on it a few times. That's about all I can think of, there is a few other issues but overall it is a really neat device.
I've had this phone about 3 months or so and I have to say, it has performed far beyond my expectations. I've owned several other galaxy models, as well as competitor android phones. I learned that I will likely never stray from a Galaxy model ever again!Initially I had my eye on an S22, but the pricing options for that model compared to this one was just too wide to justify the cost. Boy, I'm glad I chose the A71. It has the drive space that allows me to have all my favorite apps without being bogged down and slow (which was a bit difficult with the A32).This phone performs as well as I would have expected from the S22....and for less than half the price! The cameras are much better especially in close up, macro, and flas modes. Zooming to more than 20% in normal mode shows noticeable degradation of the image if enlarged later in post processing on a computer. Most average users may never notice it but I am an advanced DSLR user thus I am much more critical of my photo images. Though frustrating, I suspect the phone will continue to prove its superiority as time passes and my knowledge and use of its technology increases. The only distrust I have in the phone for the future is how long will the battery last before it needs replacement. My previous LG phone had replaceable batteries that were VERY easy, quick, and inexpensive to replace. Unfortunately, LG was the last company to use replaceable batteries thus all newer phones now have a certain built in planned obsolescence.

Speaker is as advertised and is just as good as any other phones on the market. Have had no trouble connecting to data or service or wifis. Never had the phone lock up or shut off or lag when using. This phone is well worth the money and most people don't know how to operate their own phones when they leave reviews and most don't have anything to do with the phone besides they love it which doesn't tell you anything besides they are excited about getting a new phone. Most people having claiming to have problems with certain areas of their phones are usually because they don't know how to properly operate their phones or know how to use them correctly so they think there is a problem with it when they are the problem because they're just stupid.
