This is an impressive machine to unbox, the fiesta red metal case and keys w/matching dockable stylus just beautiful to look at. VERY light, easy to carry. Boots quickly (as CBs do) and then you're treated to the stunning 4K OLED display. I'm not sure what 4K really does for you on a screen this small, but the OLED is amazing. Viewed from the side the impression is almost disorienting - the screen/lid just CAN'T be this thin, but it is. Keyboard is low travel but solid and nicely backlit (and I'm picky about these things), trackpad worked fine for my purposes. No complaints on first impression. And then, ah, you start living with it.The Core i5 makes for a snappy Chrome experience to start with, but the thermal issues with this fanless design start catching up ... MoreThis is an impressive machine to unbox, the fiesta red metal case and keys w/matching dockable stylus just beautiful to look at. The all-metal surface was clearly intended as part of the passive cooling design, and it gets HOT, far too uncomfortable to leave on your lap. At minimum you'd really need to set this on an actively cooled or heat-sink lap desk, at which point how portable is it? Once things heat up, it appears to start throttling, as we noticed things seemed to slow a bit (not a testing lab, this is just an impression). Battery life is only a few hours, so also a portability issue, and a mild annoyance even for day to day use around the house. In the end we returned this and got Samsung's follow-on Galaxy CB, the Chromebook 2. On paper it seems you're paying nearly as much (since we bout this one on sale) for much less machine, but the fact is that in return for a slightly larger laptop (still well under 3lbs) i3 processor, eMMC instead of SSD, and HD QLED screen instead of 4K OLED, you get a laptop with proper cooling, better battery life, and consistent performance. Much easier to live with, still a stunner. I do miss having the stylus (that was an odd thing to drop, but they've opted to go with USI and didn't include one), but aside from that we're much happier with the CB2. It's a pity, but this original Galaxy CB is an impractical beauty.

Absolutely beautiful design, reminiscent of Google's original Chromebook. Frustratingly flawed from first day:Mouse pointer would start randomly jumping around with the only fix of restarting. If any minimal traces of anything are on the screen, the mousepad would stop working (note- it's a touchscreen. you can't use the touch otherwise trackpad stops working!?).Battery life is poor with the OLED screen, sadly. And finally, 6 months in, the screen cracked out of nowhere. No drops, no shocks, just opened the computer this morning and lo and behold, the screen is cracked. Must have been under tension.

Amazing Chromebook with possibly the prettiest display Chromebooks have had and will have for quite some time until Chrome OS becomes a real operating system worthy of more than just casual use. This device is unable to live up to its full potential for a variety of reasons primarily having to do with the artificial limitations placed on Chrome OS and Android apps as a whole. Unlike Android installing third party Android apps requires you to go into developer mode or use an incredibly tedious Linux developer work around the developer mode which is more convenient restricts your access to most common apps including streaming ones. On top of that even when you have access to all the apps that should be available to this device none of the streaming services allow this device amongst many other actual Android devices to stream more than in full HD rendering the biggest use case for this beautiful device completely irrelevant unless you want to watch very pretty YouTube videos or to attempt to try to struggle streaming from your Plex server. Additionally there is a sort of grainy quality to the image if you get not even that close to the screen. It appears that there is some sort of gaps between the pixels which some people might notice but is readily apparent to me at any close distance. The onboard pen is nice but a fair number of the apps struggle to take advantage of it as a lot of drawing apps are not optimized for an X86 processor though this does seem to be getting better. I purchased this device for $200 and it is certainly worth more than the price I paid for it. However as nice as this device is it is limited by Chrome OS. Honestly if this device could run Android and if Android had better X86 compatibility this would be a no brainer. However Chrome OS is still trying to grow beyond its primarily browser based origins by bolting on some of android's biggest selling points but it's frequently hindered by its ability to go all the way. If you can get this at a bargain and you like Chrome OS this device is great. However it did release some time ago and there are better Chromebooks on the market right now. The only thing this does bett additionally the battery could be better. And I wish some of the play store apps had better compatibility with Chromebook. For instance super display does not work with USB due to some strange limitation.

I purchased this beautifully designed Chromebook in June 2023, so just a few week's ago from the time I'm writing this review. After about 3 days of receiving the device in the mail, I needed to start working on a research paper for an online class. I was about 15 minutes into my research when I needed to click and drag a file to a new folder I created for my research articles. My touchpad became unresponsive and my onscreen cursor began acting very erratic. I ended up restarting the device and this did not resolve the concern. I followed all of the troubleshooting steps found on Samsung's website as well as Google's and this did not resolve my concern. About a week ago I "powerwashed" (factory reset) the device and this did seem to temporarily fix the touchpad ... MoreI purchased this beautifully designed Chromebook in June 2023, so just a few week's ago from the time I'm writing this review. I followed all of the troubleshooting steps found on Samsung's website as well as Google's and this did not resolve my concern. About a week ago I "powerwashed" (factory reset) the device and this did seem to temporarily fix the touchpad concern, and when it did malfunction, the trouleshooting steps founds online did resolve the problem, but for only about 10-15 minutes. For this to be my everyday laptop, I am HIGHLY annoyed that I cannot double click, or click and drag using the touchpad without causing it to wig out. I attend an online university and 100% of my course load is done at home and supposed to be on this laptop. I am thankful that the screen is touch enabled, or I would be so far behind.I have contacted Samsung support and will be sending the device in for repairs, but after researching this problem online, it seems that others have also tried these steps to no avail. I hope Samsung is able to figure out what the cause of this issue is. It seems to have affected a great percentage of customers who purchased this same device.
Don't believe the low scores. Lots of complaints about battery charge life. Consider for a moment the horsepower this Chromebook has under the hood. A full blown PC laptop processor (Intel Core i5) that runs circles around virtually all other CPU's used in Chromebooks. An AMOLED display with a max NITs brights of just over 500 making this unit usable outside in sunlight. Virtually all other Chromebooks use a standard IPS display that can barely manage 250 NITs. Not to mention that AMOLED emits much less eye straining blue spectrum light than IPS or even QLED. Try getting an IPS or QLED display certified as an Eye Care Display by SGS, the Swiss inspection and testing service- unlikely to happen. Finally, this Chromebook is packing a large capacity SSD and 8 GB of ... MoreDon't believe the low scores. Lots of complaints about battery charge life. But so far after a week of owning, battery time for this powerful Chromebook is good when considering it's heavy duty specs.

Everything about this chromebook is top notch especially for its ptice point. My only complaint is that i will miss having an hmdi out port as I like to plugin my laptop for our outdoor projector screen. Otherwise it does have a micro sd port, usb, headphone jack and uses the USB-C port to charge and offers an extra for other needs. The touch screen works well, mouse is fluid, keypad reactive, ram sufficient, hardrive quick, processor enough, graphics good for casual use. This laptop would be great for a student or anyone looking to accomplish most needs. For high end gaming and for the professional that uses a laptop for heavy and complex purposes maybe look at a higher model. For everything else this chromebook will satisty all your laptop needs
I purchased Samsung laptop for my schoolwork when it had a good deal included Samsung TV and tablet. I finally got my laptop in the mail. It is really spiffy and if you love new a fancy, this is the one. It is also very fast. The only thing I don't like is that yes, I did get opened box, but I got the best and excellent condition one. Which wasn't much off of the current price and it has a dent on the top, very small, and the right hing is a little bit off. Like maybe it got dropped or something. I KNOW it was an opened box opportunity, but since I only saved like $50 instead of a brand new one, I'm thinking maybe I should have just got the brand new one.Other than that, it's a very, very nice computer. It almost feels like I'm using a phone. It's very delicate too. So if you're someone who is rough on your electronics, this is not for you. It does get really hot like the other reviews say but that's fine because I don't use it on my lap much anyway. I haven't used it long enough to say whether the battery lasts awhile but this computer is so thin that I don't think they had very much room for a large battery. I would say it's about as thick as a phone with a phone case on it.I got this computer for college because it's fast and with the stylus I can do my art class just fine. Another thing I don't like is that I can't turn the mouse pad into a scroll pad like on my other laptop. On my other laptop I can run my finger down the side of the mouse pad and it will drag the screen down.Yes I would recommend to a friend.
I really want to love it, albeit, after receiving the item..I noticed the keyboard keys are chipped and I've used the CB maybe four times. For it to arrive like this, is very unlike Samsung, all other factors aside. And really takes away from the awesome red aesthetic. Which is like buying a matte painted car; tough work. When I went to return this item online as I just received and unboxed it; I noticed it's now even more off the original price. So, for that reason I'd return it anyway. It's a bit worrisome when items are more than half off their original price. Don't get me wrong I love a deal...but it screams "sell them all, we need to replace the current model".At surface, if you're not used to a Chromebook (CB) it'll take adjusting, the included 4k display ... MoreI really want to love it, albeit, after receiving the item..I noticed the keyboard keys are chipped and I've used the CB maybe four times. Don't get me wrong I love a deal...but it screams "sell them all, we need to replace the current model".At surface, if you're not used to a Chromebook (CB) it'll take adjusting, the included 4k display is killer, the 2 in 1 folding design is killer...however I find it very odd the "vents are directly under the screen when folded, the camera on one time, the fingerprint sensor useless when folded and that was my primary purpose for this machine (trying to replace a Macbook Air M1 2020).Preferably, I'd like 4k display, 16GB of ram and whatever on the storage as it's got a microSD card. I wish it have MVNO or SIM (cellular) as some other models do. I have yet to give it a work out so I don't know how much I can push the power...but it seems like it's got some juice.I can't believe the initial price, then sale price, and now current price. Will 100% be returning, probably for a Windows device as the ChromeOS and Android built-in (when you come from Apple eco system) isnt "right".
I love Google, I love my Samsung Galaxy phone so this looked like a dream combination! I would suggest doing your research but I thought I did, the reviews were great, I acknowledged to myself pre-purchase that it wasn't a PC, it would be different and thought it would be fine for what I needed. But what I didn't realize is that my phone has more functionality than this Chromebook. The unnecessary keyboard changes are frustrating but I expected the wannabe-Apple elements! The connectivity issues to every WiFi outside of my home was NOT expected. If I want to use others or even my phone hotspot, I have to completely shut the Chromebook down and it's not even guaranteed to connect properly at startup, I just have to keep my fingers crossed. If I want to use others or even my phone hotspot, I have to completely shut the Chromebook down and it's not even guaranteed to connect properly at startup, I just have to keep my fingers crossed. My Toshiba, while bulky, never had a problem with my hotspot. Also unlike the Toshiba, you cannot connect directly with an Ethernet cable as a last resort, seen as how I thought this Chromebook was state-of-the-art, I wasn't expecting to need adapters. And an issue with this is when working "offline" it assures you your work is saved to device but mine never is, it's nowhere to be found and I've lost several documents not realizing that because of the false sense of security and the appearance of being connected but actually not being connected.I expected to not be able to use software, but there are extremely limited alternatives and it's more obnoxious than it probably should be to navigate simple processes: I can't download documents for my classes (like Word) from the Canvas student app or website, it says there's no compatible app on my device to open it with and it won't even let me download it to open with Google docs, which IS THE COMPATIBLE APP. The documents download perfectly fine on my phone!I tell everyone to avoid it and the issues I have and to make sure it doesn't do what mine does. The long battery life they advertise will be wasted trying to fix and navigate this Chromebook.I ended up buying a separate monitor for my Toshiba with a cracked screen so I had a real device, while it's not portable, it's saved me a ton of time and heartache.
