5G Mobile Compute. Not without its caveats!

We'll dig just a bit further in.ARM is the kicker here. As it stands, most laptops (AMD, Intel) come with the x86_x64 instruction set out of the box, these are the laptops that run all of your apps with little or no fuss at all. Enter ARM. ARM processors have to emulate the x64 layer and what that ultimately boils down to is that some applications just won't work as expected. Those are the brakes. Keep in mind, all is not lost!So we know this is an ARM device and lucky for us it's not too bad. We know limitations exist as far as application compatibility and availability, we're almost ready for this ball game. Most of these concerns will come down to use case, as with all technological implications. Now, lets assume, as per my case, that I don't need the accoutrements of a classical laptop: the discrete graphics, the OLED display, the fans, the Octa-Core Processors with Hyper-threading. What if I've already got that at home. Enter the Galaxy Book Go 5G.If I really need to do work that requires that much horsepower, it's just a few short cuts and commands, and I've got a remote session into my most powerful rig. This unit enables me to travel light, low drag, and with enough battery life to make it through the day.Keep in mind also, that favorite application, may not be why it's your favorite. There could be an application that does exactly what your 'favorite' application does, and even better; still just a suggestion. However, I know what it means to have mission critical applications, and sometimes there's no substitute. I get it. If you're 'mission critical' with no redundancy, this is NOT the unit for you. There are other options and you probably know this.Bottom line; if you've got the know-how, or not, and you just need a device in a laptop form factor that is capable, and you're OK with having these caveats (as with all tech), then you've got a great contender here. This is a lightweight, capable machine running Windows 11 with good specs. It's snappy and runs pretty much everything I've thrown at it sans specialized software. For what this device is: a 5G mobile compute device, I can say nothing short of excellent work on execution. This is a good piece of kit.

I wish I had done more research on this device before purchasing. The trackpad has been giving me issues since day one. The laptop sometimes does not turn on when I need it to. The network connections (wifi and 5g) completely disappear from system as if the drivers are not installed at all. If you try using any browser besides Microsoft Edge, they will run really slow. I am extremely disappointed in this laptop. I usually love Samsung products, but this laptop is a MAJOR let down, especially for the price I paid. I have sent the laptop in to the manufacturer, and they cannot figure out anything. Verizon does not want to do anything about this.

For the price, it should have an OLED display.

There's a lot of pros and cons with this device. The biggest con I feel is the display. It has a TN display, so it's constantly getting lighter and darker depending on the angle you're looking at it from, and never quite looks good. I feel, at the current price of $800, it really should have an OLED. I got it primarily for watching media; YouTube, Disney+, Amazon Prime Video, etc. If this thing had an OLED touch screen, with a full 360 degree hinge, even at a higher price, it would have been 5 stars 10/10.The CPU, is not fully compatible with all Windows software. It's not sold by Verizon, a lot more expensive, but has an OLED display and Intel processor.

Great Laptop Underrated
16 January 2023

After reading other tech websites about this computer I concluded it was worth a gamble because of the Samsclub discount. So I have decided that the purchase was well worth the low low price.Ok, so right upfront I'm not a professional rater for Samsung. I'm just a satisfied user. Most of the websites I visited that had reviewed this laptop complained that it was too slow, the screen was not as good as a more expensive laptop. And a whole list of other problems that some tech could find to complain about. Alot of these sites just want to find something wrong so they can offer advise. And a whole list of other problems that some tech could find to complain about. Alot of these sites just want to find something wrong so they can offer advise. That's usually not the way most people think. So real world experience...I have found that most of my software works on this laptop inspite of the ARM processor. Some of the software I'm speaking of is Ham Radio Handie Talkie programing software such as "CHIRP". And other software for specific Ham Radio uses seems to run just fine. Of course I never expected the same performance I get from my 8 core servers, but then they don't run on batteries for 18 hours (advertised not tested).I've found the screen to suit me fine. But then again I'm not nearly as picky as the tech site writers. The speed of this laptop doesn't match more expensive laptops with Intel processors but its also not $1200.I suggest you use a bluetooth mouse so that the USB A port will be freed up for yet another connection. Also used bluetooth headphones to stream music from one of my servers with great quality.I'm sure down the road I'll find some software that doesn't like the ARM processor because the coder never included a driver for the ARM. Nothing is perfect. It has shown some lag as expected when using some software especially loading the software from the solid state hard drive. But I expect that and don't really think it will perform like an Intel laptop as stated above. But I'm really satified with the purchase especially the price, weight of the computer, and usability for the software I wanted to use. It's worth a try, and SamsClub has a great return policy. Give it a spin.

Horrible! Waste of money
6 February 2023

If I could rate it any lower I would.Had it for maybe 2 weeks and my son went to do an update that the computer said it needed, which my son has done plenty of times before. It steered the update and then after maybe 20 minutes it froze with that swirling circle of death that computers like to do when something isn’t quite right and it was stuck at 80% done; so I powered it off with the power button, then turned it back on and then I got the blue screen of death saying error that the computer needed to be repaired. It looked like the whole thing had been wiped off any programming just by doing an update! Needless to say I took it back, got a refund and purchased a completely different computer!

It’s great, a few drawbacks, but workable
5 May 2023

I wanted to get a laptop since my last one is on its last leg and I didn’t have 1k to drop. Have had mines for about a year now and honestly it’s great. It’s internal processor is not as compatible with most editing softwares, but I found a few that works with the cpu and for vocal softwares, same stuff. Because those softwares I use are missing some of the bells and whistles (that’s the reason why they work) you get a downscaled version of a laptop, but none the less, if you work with this cpu, it’ll work with you. It runs fast, boots fast, the 5g is great on the go, and simple applications are a breeze for this thing. 4/5 for the ability to run stronger software, but overall, this thing is a great purchase!

Nice lightweight laptop
19 February 2023

Inexpensive and looks good. Excellent battery life (11-12 hrs). Screen quality is OK and can be improved with a bit of font tweeking. Keyboard is a little flat although you do quickly get used to it. And now the ARM64 processor - pretty fast and I managed to load all my old apps and software up OK although it does seem to use up an extra 10-15GB of space more than my old machine used to? And now the downside - I just can't get the printer driver to load up and I think this is one of the known issues with these ARM processors. I'm sure if this had fully sunk in after reading the other reviews I wouldn't have bought it. So please make sure you know what this all means before buying.

Perfect "on-the-go" laptop
1 February 2023

This laptop is excellent for an on-the-go lifestyle. I carry it back and forth with me every day. I use it to do my college work online, work on my blog, and prepare and present lessons at church. The interest is always fast and reliable. I have had this laptop for a year now and haven't ever had any issues connecting, even when I was traveling through the mountains from NC to KY and back. I think the only place I have ever lost signal was in a tunnel. I would recommend this laptop and actually plan to purchase another one just like it for my homeschool. It is very lightweight and the perfect size, in my opinion. My favorite thing about it is that there are not any vents or fans. No matter what kind of surface it is on, it has NEVER even been warm to the touch, let alone hot.

Understand what you're buying!
20 February 2023

A really good machine at a knockdown price. Nice looking, fast, battery life second to none ~14 hrs. Mediocre but OK screen and keyboard. 128GB SSD but OS plus installation of my fairly basic set of apps left the laptop with only 60GB. BUT be warned and understand exactly what you're buying before going ahead with this Samsung and understand the pros and cons of an ARM64 vs x64 processor. Many Windows apps will not install and run on ARM64. I also have an issue installing a driver for my Canon printer. Good machine but please read about the limitations of ARM64 before buying.

By far, this is the best laptop that I've gotten I never did have windows before. This is my first time having a windows laptop. But let me tell you, windows is way better. And so is the Samsung laptop? I mean, it's fast, it's faster. Almost as fast as my S23 Ultra. Okay, they are about even. The only thing that I don't like about it is the colors That's only because I haven't really looked into it yet. It is the color that it portrays. It looks like it's faded. It's not like rich and full of color like the phone . And the other thing that I like about the Samsung laptop is. I could stay hooked up with my phone with no problem. And it works really well. It doesn't drop like certain apps that you get at the place store.
