The feature I use the least on this phone is the actual phone function but it works flawlessly also inside a 40k Sq ft building that has been known to disrupt some communication I've never had an issue. (Disclaimer: I'm not a power user nor do I use my phone for prolonged, intense gaming sessions) So far, this phone hasn't lagged and stuttered at all through normal, everyday use. The fingerprint sensor is fast, responsive, and accurate. Cons: - No headphone jack, so you must use wireless earbuds or carry an adapter. - Plastic back panel. Many online reviews mention that the plastic back is a downside of Samsung targeting thephone for more mid-range consumer markets. While it definitely doesn't feel as premium as a phone with a glass or metal back, I, and I suspect many others, immediately slap a case on their phone so this plastic backing isn't an issue. For the risk-takers who don't use a case, the plastic is slightly textured and feels firm so it's certainly not cheap plastic at the very least.

The phone has been outstanding. Even though it is considered a mid range device, I haven't noticed any deficiencies. It's fast, smooth and just as good as any phone I have ever had including flagship devices. 120hz refresh rate makes it one of the smoothest I have ever owned. Battery life has been great, although it is starting to get a little shorter lately. But I have also owned this phone for 25 months, so that's kind of expected. Still getting a full day out of it, just have a little less at the end of the day when I go to charge it. Unfortunately, the charging port has stopped working entirely. Fortunately, the 15w wireless charging works great, but I do miss the 25w super fast charging you get by plugging it in. Gaming, multitasking, or just browsing, it runs without a hitch. Even the cameras have been fantastic. I've been very pleased with it and cost less than the s20. I would like to see an S22 FE 5G. I would consider that upgrade for sure!

Great features, stable, and smooth operation - price/performance is excellent!

My S7 lasted for 6 years and finally died. Looking around for a good replacement at an affordable price, I finally came across the S20 FE 5g.The screen is large which is what I like. The back is not glass, but plastic. However, it does not feel cheap. The sides are aluminum and overall, it has a flag-ship premium feel to it but it might feel a bit large for those with smaller hands. My hands are fairly large so it fits perfectly for me.The fingerprint reader is built into the screen and I have had no issues with it working. It responds fast and gets me into my phone within a second or two. It's also integrated well with other apps to provide security as well. This currently has Android 12 on it. It responds fast and gets me into my phone within a second or two. It's also integrated well with other apps to provide security as well. This currently has Android 12 on it. The one drawback to this device is it's 2 years old, which means it started at Android 10 and will receive Android 13 as its final OS upgrade. That means after Android 13, only security updates will be released for the next couple of years following, so that means support for the phone for anyone getting it in 2022 won't last as long if you had instead gone for a newer device like the S22. But, for the price, you cannot beat this. And for me, I always make my phones last years after the updates stop. My S7 is a case-in-point. I got it in 2016 and made it last 6 years. But, for those that look at upgrading every 3 years or so to ensure they always have a device with the latest Android OS, then this may not be the device for them as stated earlier in regards to Android 13 being the last upgrade for this phone.Bluetooth works great in my car as well as with my earbuds. This might be another rub for some, but there is no headphone hack. However, for me, I have been using Bluetooth earbuds for years now and I love it. No wires to tangle up and I don't have to ensure the chord is long enough to reach my phone if I'm doing something like mowing the lawn with the phone in my pocket. I have had no issues with dropped connections with it. It works flawlessly with my car which also has Android Auto in it. It connects quickly and Google Maps is fast and responsive. With my S7 (with it so old), Google maps would hitch, pause and move sluggishly. Also, I would have to wait almost up to 1 minute for Android Auto to fully start up once it was connected to my car. At home, WiFi connection is also stable and fast. All applications feel snappy and fast and I haven't had any issues with any of the applications I use. In fact, many that seemed to perform just "fine" on my S7 have new life breathed into them as I can definitely see a marked improvement in response and speed. The screen is a Super AMOLED, 120Hz HDR10+ screen. It makes things such as scrolling, games and videos be very smooth and fast and the overall responsiveness of the phone feels great. Colors are vibrant and the touch screen is very responsive. I have not encountered any issues where it doesn't respond to what I want except in one area. I've noticed with the screen almost reaching basically to the bezels, you have to be careful how you hold the phone because sometimes, I would find the screen not responding to taps and swipes. The reason was part of my hand (such as a finger) was already touching the screen at the edge, so when my other hand would perform an action, nothing would happen. So I've had to relearn how to hold this phone properly from how I used to do it with my S7. My S7 had a wider gap between the bezel and the edge of the touch screen, so it gave a little more room for my fingers to grip the phone. But I have been able to adjust quickly to this and have no longer had the issue. The processor is the Qualcomm Snapdragon 865. While it is an older processor, it still can keep up with some of the newer phones in many respects. And in some areas, it outshined newer phones with newer processors. Gaming-wise, it is great. Non-gaming-wise, still very fast and responsive. As for storage, the S20 SE 5G version comes with 128GB of storage and 6GB of memory. With the SD card support, you can vastly increase the storage capacity of your phone with a microSDXC card up to 1TB.The phone also comes with a USB-C fast charging cable as well as a power adapter. However, the power adapter is not 25W, but 15W. Therefore, you will get fast charging, but a 25W adapter will be faster. You will have to purchase a 25W brick separately. Too bad they didn't just give you the 25W adapter with the device, but today there are phones that only come with the cable and no power adapter, so this was a nice move on Samsung's part when they released this phone.Overall, the small minor quibbles I have with this phone are just that and do nothing to detract from my overall pleasure of having purchased this device. This phone for me was a great deal at the price which was below it's original release price. Compared to the newer phones, it might not have the latest hardware, but price/performance-wise, you can't beat it. But as this is coming up on 2 years, I think Verizon has a limited stock and they do seem to be going fast. If you can get it, and you want to NOT spend a lot of money on a new premium flagship device, but you still want to get a phone that is pretty near to a flagship device in performance and features, then IMHO the S20 FE 5G is worth it.

Great phone..as long as your touchscreen holds out

I bought a Galaxy S20 FE 5G this year toward the end of April, and, for the most part, it's been a great phone! Nice and snappy, plenty of storage, great features (reverse wirelsss charging and the SD slot have been among my favourites!) and great battery life, it's been a dream to use!So why the negative score? About six or seven months since owning it, around the middle of November, I started to notice oddities in my touchscreen: severe skipping when I use the swipe-to-type feature of the GBoard (when I try to swipe a word, I end up with multiple one or two letter words), dead zones when I try to tap things (having to tap two or three times to get input to register), registering a tap when I try to scroll, entire dead areas if I’m trying to draw something. ... MoreI bought a Galaxy S20 FE 5G this year toward the end of April, and, for the most part, it's been a great phone! Turning Touch Sensitivity on doesn’t fix the issue, performing a Factory Data Reset doesn’t fix the issue. The problem is completely random, so it’s near-impossible to reproduce, but this happens frequently enough for me (10 – 20 times a day) that it’s become a major annoyance when using the phone. I contacted Samsung Support who connected to my phone and spent about 30 seconds testing it without issue and dismissed it as having nothing wrong. When I expressed my concern about wanting to have this fixed within my warranty period, they pointed me to an authorized service centre to have the screen replaced. I’ve dropped it off at the service centre who’ve told me that Samsung refuses to fix the screen under warranty because they can’t reproduce the issue on their endAll of this to say that I strongly caution anybody looking to buy this phone that you may end up with problems using your touchscreen and, unless you can provide concrete steps to reproduce the issue (you likely can’t beyond just using the phone and praying that it acts up for the service centre), you’ll be expected to cough up to have the screen replaced – even if you’re still within your warranty period.Between hardware issues with this (and my last Samsung) phone, and the less-than-stellar product support I’ve received, this will be my last Samsung product, and I will be cautioning friends and family against buying Samsung going forward.

I bought this as an upgrade for college and honestly, it has survived so much of my college shenanigans I feel like its invincible. Accessories include a basic clear, TPU case and an Am@zon recommended screen protector. I am notorious for throwing my phone because I think it's easier for me to set down my phone somewhere far away so I am not tempted to scroll for hours. Thus, throwing my phone somewhere across the room has been the best option for me. It has survived crashing into my bed, my roommate's bed, the open closet, the drawers, and most frequently, the cement floors. Not a mark, a scratch, a dent, or any obvious changes to performance. Everything runs as normal and I can run big games such as Gensh1n 1mpact without it lagging or force closing at random times like my 1Pad (sigh). Design is as customizable as always and I appreciate that there are so many options to being able to choose my accessibility.I originally only wanted the S20 FE orange edition because of the bright color but honestly, I have found so many more ways that I appreciate this phone.

Bought at Noel Leeming Hawera. The screen is visually nice, although colours are oversaturated. It's nice to touch as well. The phone is much more snappy than my old one too. Apps usually open quickly, and scrolling up and down is fast. I don't play games, so I can't comment on that. Battery life is OK - it seems like that hasn't improved at all in five years since I bought my last phone, which was a lot lighter than this one. Two days. The camera island on the back is too big. I have the phone in a case, but there is a big cut-out in the case for the cameras so the protective glass can rub against pockets and such. I think the anti-reflective coating will wear off the camera cover glass fairly soon, leaving photos looking smeared and dull.Out of the box, photos look ludicrous, like cartoons, but it's fairly easy to change the setting to "natural", which means not quite ludicrous, just over-saturated, over-contrasty, and skin-like textures (detected by the AI) being over-smoothed. Much like every other Samsung phone; not quite as bad as some iPhones. Auto white balance was good, colour shades are approximately right once you switch to "natural". Instagrammers will probably be very happy with this phone. (Please instagrammers, enable the grid and get your horizons level! Thank you.) The telephoto is a nice feature.Phone sound is reasonable, and phone calls and music and video playing work fine with my Jabra bluetooth earbuds. Not drop-outs or funny behaviour so far, and I haven't noticed much lag.I had trouble with apps crashing a lot after I bought the phone, but an OS update has halved the number of crashes to maybe 20 a day. As above, re-opening apps is quick, so I hardly notice now. I doubt that Samsung will support this model for long (their track record isn't good), so I'm not holding my breath for another OS update. The in-screen fingerprint reader was ridiculously bad before the OS update, but it is now mediocre, so that's a great improvement. I actually use it now, sometimes. Face recognition is fairly quick most of the time.Notifications. Out of the box the phone is set up to notify you about everything and it takes a few hours to prune that back and switch off vibration, if you can't leave "do not disturb" on permanently. But every other phone is the same: phone makers don't value your time or sanity.I bought a refurbished iPhone Xs after this, and tried that out for a while, but I have come back to this phone because it's a little nicer in daily use. Despite the lack of iMessage and FaceTime. Make of that what you will.

POOR Nighttime FLASH Photography - (Bring your own light source and shut off the flash :( )
15 June 2023

Nighttime photography - get rid of the FLASH PROBLEM Longer Battery Life - It lasts 7 hrs. 20 mins of about 5 hrs of use. I bought this because my co-worker and friend have the same S20 fe and their photographs were amazing, especially of the full moon (at night of course). I am so disappointed in the night photos mine takes. There's a circle of glowing light in nearly every night photo. I tried holding the camera differently, cleaning the lenses & flash, tried every setting, still this circle distorts 65% to 95% of the shot, mostly from left to right or center, on pretty much all of my nighttime photographs. I was able to determine it is from the flash. If I disable the flash and use my own light source (headband LED light bar/spot), the circle doesn't appear in ... MoreNighttime photography - get rid of the FLASH PROBLEM Longer Battery Life - It lasts 7 hrs. 20 mins of about 5 hrs of use. I was able to determine it is from the flash. If I disable the flash and use my own light source (headband LED light bar/spot), the circle doesn't appear in the photo and the photos are great. If I take a photo at dawn without the flash again, the photos are, again, very nice, nevertheless, the flash sucks. I am required to take photos throughout my shift as part of my duties at work, I am fortunate that my boss & the client do not care about the circles of distortion in the least so for work purposes the camera problem is only a problem for me personally. Grrrr. The camera does perform exceptionally well in daylight and low light without the flash, so I guess that's a consolation. I haven't had a clear night to take a moon shot yet. I am saddened by the fact that my friends who have the same cellphone do not suffer from the same issue mine has. I also noticed the battery life is nearly as bad as my old phone. The battery lasts as long as my shift along with my commute so it could be worse. I simply have it plugged into the charger as much as possible. I am disappointed. I was so looking forward to the awesome camera photos of the S20 fe that my friend & coworker have but somehow, I got a somewhat defective unit, dissatisfied and to be honest, after so looking forward to finally getting a cellphone with a good camera, I admit I am a little heartbroken. If you could send me a replacement while I continue to use mine for work and then once the replacement is doing what my job requires I could then send back the defective one so as not to have an interruption in use, I would really appreciate that, however, I hardly expect that from any seller as it would be a rare act/accommodation. The 3 photos on the left are with the flash, the 2nd photo from the right is with my own light source and the 5th is without the flash and with just my car's headlights at dusk. I guess I have to bring my own light source wherever I go... :/

After reading all the negative reviews on this phone I can only come to the conclusion that all electronics are not equal however, there's people that unfortunately are limited on tech knowledge as well. Not saying im any kind of tech expert but I know enough to know expectually with phones loaded with bloatwhere it is critical to remove any apps possible if you don't plan on ever using them. Keep adaptive brightness on at all times because the phone is smart enough to know when to dim or brighten for best viewing results. If you keep phone clean and apps removed from back ground functioning you will be amazed on how much time you'll get with battery time. I can get a day and a half up to 2 days with moderate use and than some. If you keep phone clean and apps removed from back ground functioning you will be amazed on how much time you'll get with battery time. I can get a day and a half up to 2 days with moderate use and than some. So just keep in mine that even though these phones are smart their not going to have terrific battery life out of the box. They must be configered according to use and demand depending on personal preferences. If you compare these Samsungs to iPhones that have minimal configuration abilities they go much longer hands down and I can back that information because Ive had almost every Apple iPhone known to man and many many Samsungs as well and rarely have I seen an iphone with better battery life than an Android phone. It all comes down to how it's configured for the user. This Samsung S20 FE is one of the best phones ever built for the price that i've ever seen. There are faster Samsung phones but not with better battery life. Hope this helps people when there reading the reviews on this phone because they can be very conflicting and some better not said in my opinion. Excellent phone for people on a budget or prefer not paying tons of money for a phone that still performs well with good battery life.
