Samsung Galaxy Tab A 10.1" 32GB 4G Black

I have mixed feelings about this product as it is nothing but a glorified Samsung phone that is just bigger. Unlike my older Samsung tablet, this product is meant to incorporate all of the successful items found on Samsung Galaxy phones. However, what I wanted was a tablet and not a super-sized phone, which is what this is. It's even shaped like a phone. The side controls that designers have included make it very difficult to hold vertically as you're always hitting one of the side buttons. And when you grab it by the edge, it inadvertently activates some other function or app that you don't want right in the middle of something else that you're doing. I'm just glad it doesn't have Bixby which I loathe on my Galaxy phone and why I won't be getting another Galaxy phone when I can afford a new one, as phones now average close to $1000.00. So everything on this tablet must either be viewed as a vertical object (as it is a sharp rectangle) or in widescreen (again, because it is a sharp rectangle). My other tablet had a squarer screen which made it possible to use for drawing or making a printed page. With this tablet being so sharp a rectangle, that isn't possible as it won't fit any paper. So you either have to cut the sides or the top and bottom. It's very thin and needs a stand orelse its just unwieldy. While I got a good price ($199 for having 128 GB of memory) I wouldn't buy one like it again. Imagine if they took your laptop screen and lopped off the top and bottom. That's the screen. Too much of a rectangle.

Pros: This tablet isn't the fastest, doesn't have the most memory, nor the highest resolution screen but it has enough of everything to make it perfectly usable. I bought this because it's light and has enough performance for emails, browsing and watching videos. I bought it as a package with a case and a 64GB sd card bundled at the same price all other retailers were selling just the tablet. I use it with a pair of Sony bluetooth headphones for watching movies or listening to music which overcomes the main weakness of this tablet for my use, its speakers. Cons: The speakers aren't brilliant and reasons best known to Samsung are both at the same end of the tablet. So when watching a movie in widescreen all the sound comes from the left or the right of the tablet. A pair of bluetooth speakers or headphones solve that problem and give sound quality you couldn't get from tiny tablet speakers at any price. The camera is best described as ok. I've attached an image taken in daylight but as light levels fall the images start to lose clarity and sharpness. My moto g has a better camera. If the camera and speakers are important, look elsewhere.

I've had this tablet for 2 weeks now and it's fantastic! A few hours after setting up my apps and personal features a major update became available to put the tablet on the up-to-date Android 10 and along with that came full HD streaming across all video media platforms (previously only some, not including Netflix). So no need to stress about watching Netflix in standard definition; no worries here; and with the 10.1 inch screen video playback looks beautiful! The stock speakers aren't great though, but if you've got a good pair of Bluetooth headphones or external speakers the wrongs can be righted easily enough. It could be a wee bit more sensitive, however other than the odd miss-press every now and then its not really an issue. Its performance is reasonable but with such low storage you'll need to get a memory card pretty quick otherwise after you've used half of the tablets internal storage it will gradually get slower the more you download onto it. Its multitasking features work well i.e. the split screening feature, however again, the more you have on this device without a memory card the slower it works, so do yourself a favour and get one quickly! Overall I am very happy with my purchase. It works just fine for what I use it for (browsing and streaming mostly) and for a 'cheap' tablet it exceeds my expectations. It could be faster, it could be more sensitive, but I don't often find myself complaining about it. 4.5/5 stars, this is a very good device for the low price tag :))
