Very much like Samsung's Galaxy phone range. Good finish. I just wanted a basic tablet of around 8 inches and under $200. When the 64 GB version went on sale for only $130 about 6 months ago, I grabbed one. Several reviews I had read complained about the screen resolution, so I was sort of prepared for that, but there is absolutely nothing wrong with its screen. It's not Super AMOLED but it is still quite nice and easy to read. The Exynos octa-core CPU is also just fine and nothing lags while using this inexpensive tablet. I have absolutely no complaints - NONE - and enjoy using it especially for watching movies while in bed. I'm actually amazed that Samsung made such a nice, small tablet that can be bought for only $130. Worth every penny!

64GB/4GB RAM Version: Ordered it online, went to pick up next day, greeted by very friendly staff, and was given the tablet in under a minute after entering store.I've been building computers, and had many mobile smart toys including iPods, smart phones, iPads, etc... for a very long time; so I'd like to think that I can provide a fair assessment of this A7 Lite.It really is nice, and an inexpensive price. I've updated it from Android 11 to 13, and have installed roughly 5 apps plus Bitdefender Total Security (paid for ver.)There's no observed slowness of any sorts yet, and the Prime Video movie I watched was a nice quality video. I think the 2hr movie only used 8% battery at a very dim setting.I haven't played any games yet, so I can't report on that.I highly recommend this Samsung Galaxy A7 Lite if this particular size is what you're shopping for.I cannot foresee having any problems with this very affordable tablet, moreover I can't see why I would want to spend more money on anything else of equivalent size. I'm sure basic games would be fine too, because it's rather surprising that many Android games will play on my 2016 Galaxy S7 phone...

Good, portable tablet for everyday use
16 June 2022

Good tablet for every day use. I usually use it to watch Tik Tok, stream video, and play music. It's pretty responsive and I can even have multiple apps open in the background. The screen is a perfect size in my opinion. Big enough that I can see everything clearly when watching a video, not to mention a good increase from a phone screen. Also not too big like a 10' tablet. Portable enough to take on the go without being bulky. And since it's smaller, it's not a square like some of the larger tablets so video fills the entire screen when held sideways. A speaker on both the top and bottom provide good stereo sound when held sideways as well. Also super happy that it charges over type C.I actually returned my Tab A 8.0" and bought this instead. The extra 1GB of RAM compared to that tablet makes a huge difference, much more responsive. The slightly larger screen is surprisingly noticeable. A 0.7" difference isn't huge but it goes from being just about usable to being a great size. The higher resolution of the display is great too.I don't really think it's worth $130 for the 32gb storage 3gb RAM model I got but mine was open box which made it below $100. At that price it's a great buy. The 64gb storage 4gb RAM model could be a better buy since it's usually about $20 more. The storage isn't a big deal unless you plan on downloading a lot of games but the more RAM the better since 3GB is usable but 4GB makes everything more comfortable to use.

Great budget tablet for entertainment/home control
20 December 2022

Got this on sale for $89.99 and at that price, I think it is a great deal. I was using an older iPad Mini 3 that Apple stopped supporting so I needed something new. I primarily use it for streaming (Netflix, HBO, Hulu, Youtube, Etc), some light web browsing, and home control apps (Google Home, Nest). All the apps work fine and I am able to download shows for streaming on flights. But keep in mind this is a budget laptop with a weak processor. Normal functions, like facial unlock, scrolling through pages/apps, etc., do lag a little. I haven't tried this for any type of gaming but I don't think it would be suitable for more than a very simple game. Also, consider the screen resolution. This is an entry level screen that has very low PPI and is pretty much equivalent to 720p at best. It would be on par with other low cost Android tablets, but any iPad within the last 10 years would have a better screen than this (my iPad mini 3 has a much better screen). But again, you get what you pay for, and since I am just using it for movies on flights and casual browsing on the go, it is fine for me.

Just okay

I purchased this to replace my Samsung Tab A 10.5 (2018), which died after about 4 years of use. I primarily use my tablet to exercise or watch movies on flights, sometimes to read. Overall I am a very light tablet user. Compared to the 2018 version, this model is much slower, feels clunkier, and the battery drains really quickly. I turn my tablet off while not using it - the A7 Lite takes an incredibly long time to turn on. It takes minutes to get to the home screen, and then once at the home screen I need to wait a few more minutes for the UI to load. If I tried to use the tablet too quickly (even though it's on), it will repeatedly freeze and I get an error that the UI program has stopped working, which means I have to restart the tablet. The tablet is fully updated and I have never had that happen on the 10.5 - now it happens literally every time I turn the tablet on. I would just keep it on, but the battery drains like crazy. If I watch about 4 hours of videos on it throughout the week, it will die if I don't turn it off in between. I have all of the optional background processes turned off. Even with the larger screen at at 4 years old, my old tablet wasn't burning through the battery this fast. Honestly, I am disappointed in this tablet. It's not the worst, but it's much lower quality than my previous tablet, even though I thought it was basically a 1:1 replacement with a newer model. I would not have even replaced my old tablet if I knew just how clunky this one was.

I noticed this particular one was on sale. I spent the better part of a day watching videos reviewing various Samsung and Lenovo tablets that were under 200.00. This particular one regularly 199.00 was on sale for 129.00.Though the weakness of this particular tablet is the camera, the other features of this Samsung Galaxy A7 8.7 screen size could not be matched with other similarly priced tablets. The screen is responsive. The 8.7 inch screen size is a perfect size. I have had several apps open without any noticeable decrease in speed, set up was super simple. The 64GB gives me enough room to download apps without needing to have an SD card immediately (I will get one soon though) I plan on purchasing a keyboard case and a stylus to use with this in the near future. For 129.00, I have zero complaints about this nifty Samsung Galaxy.

Too Many of the Wrong Corners Were Cut
17 December 2022

This tablet from Samsung is okay -- not great, and not terrible, just okay. I wanted a small table to use for light demanding work - book reading, browsing, checking email. And, the A7 Lite does all of this adequately. That's just it, though, "adequate." I understand that this is a cheap tablet, and Samsung had to cut some corners. BUT, they cut too many corners, they cut the wrong corners, and they cut the corners to severely. The build quality of the A7 Lite is fantastic. It looks and feels beautiful and high end. The all metal frame and glass front are great.Once you start using it though, it quickly becomes apparent that this is a very budget device. The screen isn't bad. The all metal frame and glass front are great.Once you start using it though, it quickly becomes apparent that this is a very budget device. The screen isn't bad. The colors are well produced, but it does have a washed out look and it doesn't get that bright. But this is fair for the price point. However, the processor Samsung used is where this table feels terrible. It is very slow. The lag is EXTREMELY noticeable and, often, VERY ANNOYING. Samsung should have charged a few dollars more and used a faster processor. The slow chip make this tablet annoying and, at times, frustrating to use. Another poor choice by Samsung is that this tablet doesn't use magnets to wake when you lift the cover. This seems like a pointlessly cheap decision to make - one that cannot have saved much money, but really detracts from the user experience.Again, I am well aware that this is a cheap tablet. But, Amazon's Fire Tablets are much cheaper and have a lower build quality, but are a pleasure to USE compared to this one. Samsung elevanted form too much over substance on this device. Rather than trying to produce the cheapest table possible, Samsung should insteat introduce an 8 inch Tab S8 - a premium mini tablet to compete with the iPad Mini.
