As an Apple Product User, I Love this Samsung Galaxy Watch

I sent it back to get a replacement and it did the same thing. That's when I ran across these on Walmart.com. I purchased two because they were just over $100 and I thought I had nothing to lose by purchasing them with a 90-day guarantee from the manufacturer and then purchasing for only $18 the Walmart extended warranty for 3 years. I am super excited and pleased with my purchase. Not only that save money but the watch is souped up and has all the bugs cleared and I can literally talk from the phone on the watch with no problems. It only cost me about $10 extra a month to have the Standalone phone option added Verizon Wireless account. I'll actually operating the phone from the vr30 and I can imagine that it would work even better with a Samsung Galaxy phone. I'm not really really interested in purchasing the phone right now but for right now I'm loving these watches. My friends have also ordered them and they work very well. If you have an issue, the manufacturer is very very responsive and Walmart also backs its warranty that they sell for $18. You have an awesome watch the gain and absolutely nothing to lose.

Great display and rotating bezel control

The included rubber strap won’t be to everybody’s taste, but it is soft and comfortable and the lugs are standard widths so its easy to swap in other off-the-shelf watch straps. The standout features are the OLED display, which is very sharp and makes watch faces look great, and the outstanding rotating bezel. The bezel is the single best interface elements I’ve seen on a smartwatch, being intuitive and efficient to use, with a nice tactile action as well.Performance is very quick and I’ve noticed no lag in daily operation. Battery life is superb for a smartwatch, lasting well into 3 days with moderate use and GPS enabled. Enabling the (very good) “always on display” reduces battery life to about 24 hours, although the quality if the resulting display is better than I’ve seen in other implementations. The included speakers are sufficiently loud to be heard in most situations and the microphone did OK picking up my voice commands (Bixby’s less than stellar speech recognition notwithstanding).Charging is handled wirelessly, and Samsung includes a nice charging stand and adaptor in the box. The stand holds the watch sideways, which I prefer for efficient use of space on the nightstand. In the back of the watch is a suite of sensors for monitoring of hear rate and stress levels. All in all, as with most Samsung products, there’s very little to complain about in terms of hardware quality.Software and FeaturesSamsung loads the Galaxy Watch with a full suite of smartwatch features for everything from notifications, call controls, messaging, media playback (both on-device and remote control), weather, news, and the very deep Samsung Health tracking and exercise suite. All of this runs on Samsung’s Tizen, a lightweight but mature mobile operating system that Samsung has now used across several generations of smartwatch. It’s just as well the included software is so robust, because as much as Tizen is a great OS for wearables, there is very little third-party developer support. I was unable to find native apps for some of the big names like Nest, Wemo, etc. There are workarounds to these omissions, including IFTTT support, but native apps would be far easier for most users. There are some independently developed apps, including one for Nest, but support and longevity are an open question. In general, if you’re looking to cover the basics and have robust health tracking, the built-in software has you covered. If you’re looking for a device to control all of your smart home needs (and you don’t use Samsung’s Smart Things hubs), this may not be as great a fit.One area where there is a huge variety of third-party options is watch faces. There is a large library to suit almost any taste, including many solid free options. The watch faces really come to life on the excellent OLED display too.Samsung includes Samsung Pay and NFC support. I was able to import one of my cards from an install of Samsung Pay I’ve been using successfully on a Galaxy S7, but so far I’ve been unable to get it to complete a payment, despite at least one of the terminals I tried explicitly stating support for Samsung Pay. I assume I’ve just been unlucky and your mileage may vary. One thing to keep in mind is that this particular implementation of Samsung Pay works only with NFC terminals – the magnetic stripe transmission system that makes Samsung Pay unique on phones is not supported on the watch. In all honesty, I find it easier to just whip out my phone in any event since there I can use the fingerprint reader rather than putting a PIN into the watch before making a payment.ConclusionWithout broader third party support for Tizen, the Galaxy Watch is very much a case of “what you see is what you get”. If you live in Samsung’s ecosystem, or you’re happy with the admittedly very good built-in functionality, you’re likely to be very pleased with this device. The performance is quick, battery life is strong, display is excellent, and the bezel makes navigating the system a breeze. However, if you’re looking for deep integration with major non-Samsung smart home providers, you may be better served with offerings than run on more mainstream operating systems.

Great for what it's meant to do!
24 December 2022

I've had this watch for quite some time, and in my opinion, it still keeps up with modern watches out there. This has never let me down once, it has never quit, the rotating bezel is awesome, and the battery life is still phenomenal, (it ran a good few days without charging without problems). The only bones I have to pick on this is software support, and the processing. It's a noticeable step down if you seen Apple watches. It can't run youtube without overheating, and I've barely had any software updates on this. Now, on the other hand, watches are not made for running youtube or larger apps like that, and this is an older watch. Other than all that, a great watch for everyday use.

I thought this watch worked great for what I needed it for. I mostly wanted it for fitness and sleep tracking. It performs well on both fronts. I like the sleep report that it provides. There are various fitness metrics like pulse and stress level that I track with it.It has a good battery life and definitely lasts throughout the day. I don't use it all day so I normally just need to charge it once a week. It's comfortable to wear. I have a Samsung phone so it paired easily. Some times especially for sleep tracking I end up having to wear it with the face on the bottom of my wrist so that the sensors have a better consistent view of my pulse. I think my only annoyance with it is that I have to take it off to do the dishes so that it doesn't get too we. But I would recommend this for anyone.

Awesome smartwatch, heavy duty construction, tons of features. Even for being like 5 years old it functions like new and is impressive. Little bit of a pain to set up but otherwise it does great. Only complaint we have of this model of watch is that the actual watch is large, kind of cumbersome, though in all honesty this was a gift (for a lady) and she doesn't have the largest wrists. As for the actual watched I received... there are alot more scratches on it that there should be for a *very good" rated used watch. Scratches on bezel and face of the watch, and the bands looked like someone had worn them for a year straight without any cleanings. If I knew it would have come like this I would have purchased a lower grade of this watch for a cheaper price. Would have ... MoreAwesome smartwatch, heavy duty construction, tons of features. I bought Galaxy buds recently and it supposed to balance when you put it in your ears for the noise cancelation kind of to work.. it did not .. and I had to keep pushing it into my ear till it hurt..now I just gave up. with that all said, I just remember old "SONY" the brand that staid for years with good quality from Electronics point of manufacturing quality equipment, and provide excellent service. Sony still their but I guess the completion is too high and the new generation of business man killing good Engineers.

New Features Worth Buying
27 January 2022

The new Samsung Galaxy Watch is the replacement for the Gear S3, introduced in late 2016.It comes in two models based on screen size: 46mm or 42mm for smaller wrists. The 46mm watch is available in a silver trim with a black onyx band, while the 42mm version is available in midnight black or rose gold. The 46mm screen size is 1.3” while the 42mm watch has a 1.2” screen. This watch adds some new extras that you may want to consider for upgrading.Samsung has pioneered the rotating bezel with previous models as well as the Galaxy Watch. This bezel makes changing to other settings and functions a real pleasure. No more going to many submenus to find what you want to do.One of the best features is its larger battery that provides a longer time period between charges. Samsung advertises that the battery will last up to 4 days before charging. From my experience, it was closer to 2-3 days. Of course, that will vary according to personal choices such as whether you leave the display on or go to ambient mode. Keep in mind that the 42mm watch has a smaller battery, so you cannot necessarily count on up to 4 days.Samsung has added several apps you may want to add to this watch. Google Maps and YouTube are two of the apps that can be added. But there needs to be more to make this watch more functional. You also have the option of making and answering calls on this watch as long as your phone is nearby. The “Dick Tracy” function of making calls on your watch is now a reality! If fitness is your thing, the Galaxy Watch offers monitoring of your calories, heart rate, steps taken and more. It even monitors your sleep patterns to measure REM sleep. This watch can monitor close to 40 activities no matter your choice of sport. This watch runs on Tizen 4.0 and offers many watchfaces to choose from. In fact, Tizen has more watchfaces than even Android Wear.Whether you want a standard clock face or a digital one, you are likely to find one that pleases you.The Galaxy Watch is compatible with both Android and iOS devices. Be advised that I only used it with an Android phone and it worked perfectly. Setup was very easy as long as you download the Galaxy Wearable app. From this app on your phone, you can select watchfaces and use Bluetooth to connect to your watch. One of the best features of this watch is that it is easy to replace watch bands. The 46mm watch uses a standard 22m band, while the 42mm watch uses 20mm ones. Check online and you will find leather, stainless steel, nylon, rubber or silicon bands to perfectly match the Galaxy Watch. These watches use a quick-release tab that makes it easy to swap bands. For $350 I would have preferred this watch with a metal stainless band. But for $30 or less I can have the band that Samsung failed to include.Unfortunately, the Galaxy Watch is not perfect and does have some drawbacks. The primary complaint is with Bixby, Samsung’s voice-activated assistant. In needs further updates to make it as flexible as Siri or Alexa! One of Samsung’s selling points is the sleep monitoring function noted above. But be advised that if you leave the watch on the charger overnight, you can’t track your sleep patterns. The last complaint is that Samsung needs to add even more apps to make this watch more functional. The Galaxy Watch offers many new features that makes this watch attractive. However, if you own a Gear S3 this watch is an enhancement to the Samsung line—not a dramatic game-changer! But if you are new to smartwatches, the Samsung Galaxy Watch is one to seriously consider.

Rob's review of SAMSUNG Galaxy Watch & Duo Qi Wireless Charging Pad Bundle
22 July 2022

Pros: The watch looks good and has many apps available. There are also loads of free watch faces as well as others you can purchase. The fitness tracker is great and there are loads of activities to choose from.Cons: Bixby voice control is next to useless, doesn't seem to understand anything and the few times it does it doesn't work properly. Even though I've turned off the automatic workout function the watch still occasionally just starts one anyway. Also the stopwatch comes on for no reason and the screen zoom has come on automatically a few times. Don't know if this was rain getting down my sleeve to the watch whilst I was working so have turned off double tap to wake function to see if this helps.
