The walking monitor feature is a bit flawed; you need to move your arms for it to know that you're walking or running. For instance, when I run on a treadmill while holding onto the sides or the front bars, it does not track that I am exercising. There is also an ECG feature that has recently been made available in Canada. I am not sure how accurate that is though. I have worn this watch overnight and I do not believe that the oyxgen measurments are correct as they're often in the 80s for me which is supposedly not normal. My daily oxygen measurements are however always close to 100. CONCLUSION/CALL/TEXT: Overall, it's a decent smartwatch. I like that it is waterproof, that I can text and call when I'm not necessarily near my phone but in Bluetooth range. People have told me that they hear me very clear when I speak through this watch. I do wish that it was also possible to message and call through Whatsapp.

Very durable and waterproof and it stays connected to my cell phone over a great distance. It keeps perfect time and without even purchasing any of the optional faces I am thoroughly satisfied with the ones that come with it for free. For an incoming call if I cannot get to my phone quickly enough I can see who's calling and answer it until I want to switch over and use it on my phone with the speaker. I am assuming that the newer version has more features buzzers and whistles but honestly I don't need any more than I have with this watch and I couldn't be more satisfied with its durability and water resistance. I always put protection on my electronic devices and I highly recommend a very thin almost invisible screen protector for the lens as well as a snap over black cover which does not add much bulk and looks completely stock. Even with the cover and screen protector installed all buttons are fully accessible as well as completely functional. I can easily screen and answer incoming phone calls, briefly review text messages and Even Silence alerts and alarms without ever touching my phone. I prefer the chain link metal band with the Locking clasp over the silicone band because it feels much more comfortable on my wrist and doesn't cause me to perspire underneath it. I found it at a very reasonable price online and whenever it becomes too worn out it's very simple and cheap to replace. I own a variety of watches including cascio's and seiko's but this one is my definite go to watch for everyday wear because it is so packed full of functions and features it almost makes my more expensive divers watches obsolete. My son was so impressed with the watch that I am wearing that he insisted I give him one for Christmas which I was happy to do and he is every bit and is happy with his as I have been with mine. I highly recommend this watch to anybody seriously considering a smartwatch because of functions features durability longevity and a whole list of other great reasons to own a Galaxy smartwatch.

An excellent first smartwatch experience

After debating how much I would benefit from a smart watch for a while I finally settled with the Galaxy Watch 4 Classic. My primary use for it was as a consistent step tracker, so that I can accurately measure my activity with and without a phone. After using it for roughly a year however I have found more of the other features useful as well. The watch can remind me when I have been idle too long, serving as a passive reminder to stretch my legs and walk around to break up long sedentary moments. Notifications from my phone, near silent as they are, keep me alert to texts and calls. The heart rate, stress, and body composition functions have helped me pay closer attention to my overall health, and of course the step counting has become much much more accurate. With brightness set to high and stress and heartrate sensors active, the battery life can fit around 2 days, and charges up relatively quickly. This has suited me just fine, as I just set it to charge overnight anyway. The proprietary charging puck is a little unfortunate, but it is what it is, and it's small and magnetic, so I can set it on metal and fairly easily slide the watch on.The customizability of the watch faces is great, the ecosystem of watch bands plentiful, and the rotating bezel is a favorite feature, providing a tactile and just plain entertaining way to navigate apps and control volume levels. The watch has held up to sand, water, and the dings perfectly fine, and I'm happy with it still.

Decent, don't trust in water, battery frustrating

It does almost everything it promises. The 3-press SOS is nice but too easy to trigger. Speakers are surprisingly powerful for a tiny watch.I used this watch because I decided to take up swimming, and it was supposed to be safe to use in water, which is nice because its difficult to bring your phone with you when you swim. However, the screen died - even though I was only ever at the surface (no pressure), and washed it with fresh chlorine-free water after every swim, used the water mode and water-ejection from the speakers. But it still broke, and was a bit of a pain to try and get fixed - however they did not make me pay for it, which was very good. I would recommend a screen protector because dogs/children/clumsiness will most definitely scratch the screen at some point during the watch's lifetime. Overall, I somewhat regret this purchase - I can't use the eSim, the battery is too frusting to constantly charge, and I'm too scared to swim with it anymore. But it does have a nice oxygen tracker that can be very reassuring (or not) during a Covid infection.

I have owned various smartwatch brands over the years, Garmin, Fitbit and now Samsung. One thing they all have in common is that they develop issues within 12-18mths of ownership and the issues have all been similar. I have now had this watch for 13mths.The design of the watch is fine same as alot of other smartwatches. The straps are quite fiddly to remove for cleaning and even harder to put back on so I try to avoid that as much as possible. The screen is clear enough and the watch faces are customisable. There are some really funky ones available for an extra cost but these usually drain the already rubbish battery even quicker. The screen does get much more difficult to clean as time goes on.The watch is packed with features admittedly most I don't use neither would most people. The body composition is a nice feature and the only thing that makes this watch stand out for me.It doesn't accurately detect workouts automatically so don't expect that to work (it only detects 10 min walls intermittently regardless of what I'm doing) and I haven't been able to connect my airpods to it or play music on it. For a long time I wasn't able to get Yahoo mail or Snapchat notifications on it.The worst part by far is the inconsistent battery. The power drops like a stone consistently every day. Be prepared to put it on charge as soon as you get home from work. Sometimes it's died after 6hrs or hasn't made it through the night on full charge. I do occasionally have to charge it twice a day. The poor battery makes this watch totally unsuitable for my needs. Other brands will last a week before needing to be charged. This spends more time on charge than on my wrist. It does also crash and need resetting from time to time and the most recent issue I have had is it recording calories. I did a treadmill workout and it recorded 0 calories over 45mins. I also played a cricket match and the watch said I burnt 450 calories another device said 250 so I question the accuracy. If you want a watch where you can get your phone notifications, monitor heart rate etc and log your workouts there are far better devices on the market at a significantly cheaper price and are more accurate.

I was never a fan of smart watches before. I was a tradionalist. I liked the look of traditional watches. It was more than a timepiece-- it was something that also talked about who you were -- a fasion statement. I never decided to to walk because of how many steps I had, etc. I had an early fit bit, but stopped using it after a couple months. Fast forward a decade and WOW. I don't have to take my phone out to pay or to answer phone calls. I can still read texts even if I don't have my phone on me. I can easily find my phone if I forgot where I put (not as much of a problem for me, but a game changer for my wife). The classic has the feel of a traditional watch with the benefits of modern tech. The health tracking is a bonus. The BMI measurement and activity tracking and the integration with daily calorie use are far more useful than "steps" alone. I even don't mind the battery that only lasts a couple days -- I charge it when I am getting ready in the morning and it goes from usually about 35% to 75% which is all I use during the day (for those who are concerned about lithium battery longevity, 25% to75% is the best operating range anyway) even with stress and Sleep monitoring/oximetry active.I only wish the interbeat heart rate variability data was available separately and not just integrated to the stress reading. That measurement was one of best at measuring cardiac heath risk and is now only becoming practical with wearables (although I do worry with all wearables that the surrogate measurements may not always be accurate in some people whether HRV or sleep)

Life changing!
21 May 2023

The Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 has completely changed my perspective on smartwatches. Previously, I dismissed them as mere gadgets for tech enthusiasts, believing they were a waste of money. However, after using this watch, I now understand their true value in enhancing day-to-day life. The watch offers a range of features that have become indispensable to me, such as music control, fitness tracking, and seamless integration with my phone. However, after using this watch, I now understand their true value in enhancing day-to-day life. The watch offers a range of features that have become indispensable to me, such as music control, fitness tracking, and seamless integration with my phone. It's incredibly convenient to have all these functionalities readily accessible without having to take out my phone from my pocket or bag. Once you experience the Galaxy Watch 4, you realize how much you need it, and life feels incomplete without it.Aside from its usefulness, the Galaxy Watch 4 is impressively durable. I've accidentally bumped it against walls, doors, and tables countless times, yet it remains scratch-free both on the bezel and screen. This speaks volumes about its build quality and sturdiness. While the watch's performance is generally smooth, it may experience slight slowdowns or lag when too many apps are open. Additionally, the battery life could be better, but it's manageable since the watch charges quickly between uses. All in all, my experience with the Galaxy Watch 4 has been outstanding. It has exceeded my expectations in terms of functionality and durability. I am highly satisfied and will definitely consider upgrading to newer models in the future.

The Galaxy Watch: The Stable Standard
13 March 2023

It's been a little over a year since I bought my Galaxy Watch 4, and well I have to be honest here; it's been a very useful gadget for the modern day to day life.A Handy Utility:I do outside work pretty often. Thing is, you often run into situations where you can't bring your phone out to do the simple little things like checking the time or easily switching song playlists. Having a smart watch brings that sense of now having a new convenient utility at your fingertips- or well, arms in this case. While it is a seeparate device from your phone, but in a way, it also serves as like a wireless extension to it.Battery Life:The Galaxy Watch 4's battery life, while admittedly still in the process of evolving as the Galaxy Watch series goes on, is still pretty ... MoreIt's been a little over a year since I bought my Galaxy Watch 4, and well I have to be honest here; it's been a very useful gadget for the modern day to day life.A Handy Utility:I do outside work pretty often. I've had the watch on for a whole day at the time I'm writing this, and the battery has still only gone down to 40%! I mean, it could last a whole extra day at this rate, and I haven't charged it at all since I put it on last morning.Health-Focused:The amount of health tracking features on the Galaxy Watch 4 is wide and all-inclusive. I get reliable daily stats on how much I've been putting into my work outside by tracking how much I've been active; kind of like a game in a sense. Seeing when you finish a daily target goal helps give the wearer the positive feedback their mental health needs.Upgrade Suggestion: Future models should strive to have more smart assistant features built-in.
