After debating how much I would benefit from a smart watch for a while I finally settled with the Galaxy Watch 4 Classic. My primary use for it was as a consistent step tracker, so that I can accurately measure my activity with and without a phone. After using it for roughly a year however I have found more of the other features useful as well. The watch can remind me when I have been idle too long, serving as a passive reminder to stretch my legs and walk around to break up long sedentary moments. Notifications from my phone, near silent as they are, keep me alert to texts and calls. The heart rate, stress, and body composition functions have helped me pay closer attention to my overall health, and of course the step counting has become much much more accurate. ... MoreAfter debating how much I would benefit from a smart watch for a while I finally settled with the Galaxy Watch 4 Classic. With brightness set to high and stress and heartrate sensors active, the battery life can fit around 2 days, and charges up relatively quickly. This has suited me just fine, as I just set it to charge overnight anyway. The proprietary charging puck is a little unfortunate, but it is what it is, and it's small and magnetic, so I can set it on metal and fairly easily slide the watch on. The customizability of the watch faces is great, the ecosystem of watch bands plentiful, and the rotating bezel is a favorite feature, providing a tactile and just plain entertaining way to navigate apps and control volume levels. The watch has held up to sand, water, and the dings perfectly fine, and I'm happy with it still.

The LTE feature is completely useless. The watch will overheat after a few minutes on the phone if your signal strength isn't completely full. I'm talking even just one bar lost will cause the problem. Overheating even if it's 40F outside. My watch is updated to the latest software available as of today. A quick Google search reveals that this overheating during calls on LTE is a HUGE problem a lot of people have and that they got replacement watches that had the same issue, and it blows my mind that no online reviews, no Youtube tech channels, NOBODY has mentioned this MASSIVE flaw with the watch which would be apparent after using this feature at all. I see that other people with this issue have contacted Samsung and Samsung blamed carrier settings, but sorry, ... MoreThe LTE feature is completely useless. If you can't handle variations in phone signals that literally every other LTE product can, that is a product problem, not a signal problem, and poorly attempting to shift the blame instead of addressing the problem is incredibly weak. Calls work just fine when linked to the phone via bluetooth, so if you want a Galaxy watch, do yourself a favor and don't waste money on the LTE version. Or better yet, buy a watch from a company that does not conduct business like this.

I waited to upgrade for 3 more iterations (2, 3, 4) hoping a lot of the bugs would be worked it. And honestly this watch is still more or less a glorified notification device and is basically worthless if you're a Verizon customer and use Verizon proprietary apps because you cannot download them on your watch. For example, if you use the Verizon Messages App and go to start a new message from your watch it requires you to set a different message app as default in order to start a message. What's the point? For some reason if you receive a message on your watch, it shows up as being from the Verizon Messages app and you can respond to it, however if you swipe it away there's no way to get back to it and again no way to start a new one. So it's only 1 way compatible or what does this mean??? What's even worse, I initiated a chat with Tech support who had absolutely no idea whether the Verizon Messages app was compatible with the Galaxy Watch. The person on the chat promised me a resolution in the beginning and then could not deliver and kept wasting my time asking me to check the app store which I already informed them I had done and was the reason I initiated the chat (i.e to see if the app was compatible or not). Also, the standalone feature is garbage, if you do try to respond to a message and you aren't near your watch, it either will not be able to send the message or it will say, cannot send from phone, use watch number instead? What's the point??? Additionally, I can't tell you how many times I've answered a call on my watch as I'm headed back to my phone only to get back to my phone and find out I can't transfer the call to my phone (S22 Ultra). The workout/fitness stuff seems ok I guess but if you want to separately measure your heartbeat you better not move a muscle or it will give you a sensor error, however if you have activated a workout on the watch, somehow it shows as being able to read your heartbeat the whole time no matter how much you are moving, how does this make any sense at all? The individual heartbeat app makes you hold still but the heartbeat monitor built into the workout isn't the same? So if you haven't activated a workout and you are doing cardio for example, how the heck can you get a reading without stopping and holding absolutely still? I absolutely love my Galaxy S22 Ultra, I've been a Samsung Galaxy Phone user since the Note 3 but Samsung's Watches seem to be Garbage, and moreso on on Verizon. My wife has an Apple watch and iPhone 13 (both on Verizon as well) and I am SUPER impressed at how well the Apple Watch works and what it can do (I would get one if it were possible to use it with my phone). She never has problems and can literally leave her phone at home and have basically the same functionality on her watch from miles away and it uses her phone number (not a watch number). Samsung is INFINITELY far behind on the watch side and needs to step it up BIG TIME and so is Verizon on their Proprietary apps.

Bought at pre-order coming from the galaxy Gear S3. I think Wear OS is a positive over the old Tizen OS due to more mainstream apps being available such as google maps. It's a shame Google Assistant still isn't available 9 months later though. I have the apple watch 7 as well and think the galaxy watch OS is far better - principally because of the Tiles. In that regard, despite the move to Wear OS, Samsung have managed to retain pretty much the same feel of the older Tizen UI, which is great. Key positives for me are the selection of watch faces (far batter than apple) and ability to see information or short cut to something through the tiles. Key positives for me are the selection of watch faces (far batter than apple) and ability to see information or short cut to something through the tiles. I also think the rotating bezel and general look of the watch is fantastic. Main negatives for me are 1). the slow processor - user interface is quite jerky even with all background apps closed, 2). Terrible battery life - its nothing like 40 hours and actually worse than my apple watch 7. I get less than 1.5 days with Always on Display tuned off, brightness at <50% and low notifications. 3). 20mm straps look ridiculous on a 46mm watch. The Samsung straps with the wider part at the watch bezel look a little bit better, but they are really poor quality. the silicone band that come with the watch looked scuffed and disgraceful in under 2 weeks and lasted less tyime than the £2 straps on ebay. Therefore you have to rely on 3rd party straps and make do with a 20mm width, which really looks bad. 4). Health monitoring isn't very accurate and accuracy sits below fitbit, apple, garmin, polar etc (see for example 'the quantified scientists' YouTube reviews). Thats not the end of the world if you only care about 'trends' where the accuracy of the value doesnt matter as long as it is consistently inaccurate, but heart rate is way off compared to my Polar H7 heart rate strap and much worse than apple and fitbit. Body composition isnt very accurate compatred to the body analyzer at my gym and i;m very suspicious of the VO2 Max reading I get. Bloody pressure works really well, but given you have to callibrate it monthly against a bicep cuff, I bought the bicep cuff and just use that instead. The stress tracking?? I dont really understand the point or accuracy of that on any smartwatch tbh. The ECG says that my heart is beating.. so thats good. Again, not really sure of the purpose of this on any smart watch. SPO2, well, not very accurate compared to a finger monitor, but again, its generally not that accurate on any smart watch and a bit of a pointless function really. Sleep tracking - deep sleep phase is tracked very badly, light sleep and REM gets mixed up a lot. Tracking when you fell asleep and woke up is perfect though. Overall, I wouldnt recommend the watch for anyone serious about health tracking. There are much better options out there at the same price or less. But for looks, integration with Samsung phones and notifications, its a winner. Just wish the battery life was 5 to 5 days like my Gear S3 (when it was 4 years old!). And samsung really need to do something about the quality and selection of watch bands available. I'll probably wait for the galaxy watch 7 or 8 once they have hopefully sorted out the above.

Had to buy an wrist band from a different company to make sure the watch is protected -battery life doesn't last all day if you use the watch at the gym to track activity, track sleep, and have phone notifications turned own lasts about 12 hrs with all of that on. -the maps has around a 8 second lag from the phone update with an internet speed of 100 mbs and new samsung phone. -physical activities controls isn't really accurate. It's better to track reps manually or not at all. Overall, I would recomend this watch. I've never owned a smart watch and alliw it has a few cons, the pros outweigh the cons. It's a great investment. 100% would recommend. Definitely do please buy a screen protector and a strong wrist band. I've already broken 2 glass screen protectors, but my watch has remained intact
Bought this about 2 months ago. Works flawlessly and the health and activity features on it are the best ones available on the market. I specifically got the Watch4 Classic because of the rotating bezel because I tend to swim a lot and with the old Watch2 that I upgraded from, not having the rotating bezel was a major pain as I was having issues with screen sensitivity when it was wet. The rotating bezel fixes that problem and also feels nice to the touch and use. My biggest gripe is with the battery life on this thing. I believe it's more so a software issue than a hardware one because the Watch2 uses Tizen OS and the Watch4 uses Wear OS by Google with Samsung's own customized skin on it. I believe it's more so a software issue than a hardware one because the Watch2 uses Tizen OS and the Watch4 uses Wear OS by Google with Samsung's own customized skin on it. The interface is flawless but the battery drain is quite high. With moderate usage I barely get over a day with this whereas with my Watch2, I was able to easily get 2 days on the same amount of use. Google Pay is a little finnicky on it too and I would recommend sticking with Samsung Pay instead as I was running into the problem of the watch locking itself every 5-10 minutes sometimes and when I looked the issue up, it was due to Google Pay. Once I removed it from the app, it was perfectly fine. The display on it is pretty crisp too and I have no difficulties in watching it under bright sunlight. Overall, highly recommended. Would give this 5 stars if future software updates can fix the battery issue with it. P.S. if you want a more dressy than a sporty look with this watch, I would recommend getting a leather strap that is easily exchangeable with this watch. The classic brown leather strap goes super nice with this for special occasions!
Here’s what Samsung do not want you to know…. I had high hopes when buying a top brand watch but found that even the best of the biggest Mobile (cell) phone makers can make mistakes. I rarely write reviews but I am so disappointed that I wanted to share this with everyone so they do not make the same mistake that I did when buying this watch. I bought the Samsung Watch4 LTE 4G with the intention of using it to talk to people while running or just when you don’t want the bulk of carrying your mobile (Cell) phone. You have everything on your arm including google pay etc. How wrong could I be. The problem with all this fancy tech in a little watch is inevitably the battery, it is this that is the big issue. Now I like to talk, but if you think you may get more than 60 mins talk time from your watch spread over 10 hours you won’t. You will be lucky if the watch will last more than 12 hours without making any calls at all while connected to LTE (4G) The battery drains while connected to a mobile network is just too much for this watch to handle. Also, this is what Samsung do not want you to know. If you live in an area with low mobile (cell) signal then your watch will overheat trying to amplify the signal. This means you will get at best 2 mins worth of conversation before the watch shuts down due to overheating. Samsung are aware of this situation but is powerless to do anything about it and in truth does not want you to know! So, if you want a watch that’s smart and are happy to charge it up twice a day so you can use all the features then this would be OK. If you want to use it instead of a mobile (cell) phone then look elsewhere as this watch is useless with the battery life it offers. Seriously useless! You also only find out how bad this watch is after starting a phone esim plan so you can make calls and then you are tied to a network for 12 months that you’ll never use due to how incompetent the watch is at making calls. Also note it’s an esim. ie digital – no physical sim to add or remove. I even tried to use the watch on the charger to talk longer and even the charger could not cope with the drain on the battery and inevitably after some long telephone calls the watch died after 2 hours of use. I honestly do not think there is anything wrong with the watch as other people have had the same experience, its obviously a design fault and an oversite by Samsung to make the watch perform longer on the very small battery that it squeezes into this watch. I hope this review helps people to make a choice when looking at this watch as an option of a standalone mobile (cell) phone. Watch maybe, cell phone definitely not!
I was never a fan of smart watches before. I was a tradionalist. I liked the look of traditional watches. It was more than a timepiece-- it was something that also talked about who you were -- a fasion statement. I never decided to to walk because of how many steps I had, etc. I had an early fit bit, but stopped using it after a couple months. Fast forward a decade and WOW. I don't have to take my phone out to pay or to answer phone calls. I can still read texts even if I don't have my phone on me. I can easily find my phone if I forgot where I put (not as much of a problem for me, but a game changer for my wife). The classic has the feel of a traditional watch with the benefits of modern tech. The health tracking is a bonus. The BMI measurement and activity ... MoreI was never a fan of smart watches before. I was a tradionalist. I liked the look of traditional watches. I can easily find my phone if I forgot where I put (not as much of a problem for me, but a game changer for my wife). The classic has the feel of a traditional watch with the benefits of modern tech. The health tracking is a bonus. The BMI measurement and activity tracking and the integration with daily calorie use are far more useful than "steps" alone. I even don't mind the battery that only lasts a couple days -- I charge it when I am getting ready in the morning and it goes from usually about 35% to 75% which is all I use during the day (for those who are concerned about lithium battery longevity, 25% to75% is the best operating range anyway) even with stress and Sleep monitoring/oximetry active. I only wish the interbeat heart rate variability data was available separately and not just integrated to the stress reading. That measurement was one of best at measuring cardiac heath risk and is now only becoming practical with wearables (although I do worry with all wearables that the surrogate measurements may not always be accurate in some people whether HRV or sleep)
Pros: This watch has been a perfect addition to my daily life. It's perfect for monitoring your physical activity and monitoring your physical health. The ability to take accurate blood pressure readings is fabulous and it's also taken automatically throughout the day and whilst you're asleep. The readings are accurate once calibrated with a medical blood pressure machine. You can also take an ECG to monitor your heart rhythm. I find the rotating bezel very natural to use and it makes navigation on the watch very easy, much easier than touch navigation. You get all your social media notifications through, with the ability to quickly reply. The touch is accurate for such a small screen, even with large fingers. The watch is very durable and very comfortable to wear. ... MorePros: This watch has been a perfect addition to my daily life. I get at least a full day and my sleep routine off a charge before I need to charge it when I wake up. It will take approximately a hour and half to charge. I'm very light with usage with always on display off and persistent use of battery saver mode. More frequent use and not using battery saver will probably result in about 8 hours of life. You cannot browse social media conversations and start a message. You can only reply to a notification. Charging is slow, hour and half to charge, the watch does not support fast charging.
If you want ro know about this watch, there are plenty of written and video reviews, Im not going to tell you anything about the watch you can't find out by doing a bit of searching. My main gripe is that the supplied band is kind of blah, very average silicone band. Minor thing, but for the price, would like something that feels more premium. I got this watch because I love the tactile experience of the mechanical bezel to move amongst apps. It is silky smooth and very gratifying. I am a big fat man, so I appreciate the fitness tracking as I attempt to be less fat, but Im not out there running marathons so I can't really comment on those features. Things like the stress gauge and body composition seem pretty gimmicky, but the sleep tracking made me realize I need ... MoreIf you want ro know about this watch, there are plenty of written and video reviews, Im not going to tell you anything about the watch you can't find out by doing a bit of searching. Things like the stress gauge and body composition seem pretty gimmicky, but the sleep tracking made me realize I need to get treatment for apnea so that was a good nudge for my health and maybe justifies the purchase altogether. I also wish, as the title implies, that it was a bit more visually interesting. Granted I did get the black version, but I wish it looked as good as what an analog watch at this price might look. I've worn this in the shower a number of times and it has not had any issues. I would not have any reservations wearing it while swimming.
