This fold 6 is one of the best devices I've ever used, and it is definitely one of the most cohesive foldable experiences available. But it is not the best, and it's such a shame. The focus on galaxy AI this year was underwhelming, and it shows within the community. Everyone agrees that ai features are useful but are not generational upgrades that should be the focus of a device launch. The reason the fold 6 is able to compete with other foldable phones is software; it has the best software available on the market hands down. I believe there should be 3 foldable released annually if Samsung wants these phones to be more mainstream. A cheap option, a standard option, and a 2k+ ultra that many would happily shell out for.Now on to the fold 6 itself, this phone is amazing from my limited use so far. Battery life can get you through a day, and the shape/size of the screens is at the perfect point. Galaxy AI makes productivity (the main use of this device) a breeze and so enjoyable. One UI is intuitive and gives you lots of control over functions and customization. The build quality is extraordinary and really shows how far this tech has come. This is the only foldable I can recommend for anyone looking to switch.

This is a long review, but I would urge everyone who is considering buying the Flip 5 or the new Flip 6 to read this entire review and make your own judgement. I am not one to write reviews about products, but I felt I needed to for this particular product. I am a loyal Samsung customer who's had Samsung phones as far back as the S6. I was so excited when the flip series came out and pre-ordered the Flip 3 when it first came out and the Flip 5 with the full screen when THAT came out. About a year into owning the Flip 3, the middle of the inside screen (right at the fold) started to show small signs of cracks so I brought it in for a warranty repair and fortunately Samsung agreed to repair that phone at a cost of $168. About a year into owning the Flip 3, the middle of the inside screen (right at the fold) started to show small signs of cracks so I brought it in for a warranty repair and fortunately Samsung agreed to repair that phone at a cost of $168. When the Flip 5 came out I traded my Flip 3 for the Flip 5. The Flip 5 was very cool and screen is very attractive, but I honestly can say that I barely use that large exterior screen. The problem with that screen is that it is fragile and even with a screen protector on it cracked on the edge when i accidently hit it against the corner of a table when the phone was in my pocket. This is obviously not a warranty repair. HOWEVER, the inside screen (which has no cracks) is now malfunctioning after a few weeks. After going through a series of tests with a Samsung agent (who was very helpful) they determined that the interior screen needed replacing so sent me to a service centre in Calgary and said that the agent would go over the warranty coverage with me. When I went to the service centre the next they, they immediately told me that this would NOT be approved as a warranty repair as the outside screen and inside screen are linked and that physical damage to the outside screen voids the warranty to the inside screen so I would have to pay for replacing BOTH screens at a cost of approximately $1,000. Given that this is close to the cost of a new phone, it is not worth fixing and is now essentially a very expensive paperweight. After being a big fan of the flip phones, I will no longer buy one. I actually feel that I prefer the smaller screen on the flip 3's and 4's at those are less susceptible to damage. Please see my photos to see my very expensive paperweight. Very disappointed with Samsung for not covering the interior screen under warranty (the exterior screen still works fine).

I live my Zflip6 and the smoothness of the OS overall but it overheated at soon as I turned it on to set it up right out of the box. The cover screen takes multiple power button clicks to turn on when folded which is extremely frustrating for such an expensive and brand new phone. The phone speakers are AMAZING quality in comparison to past Galaxy phones and feel like you have a literal speaker next to you rather than just a phone. The Galaxy AI feature and updated translation features are extremely useful and have helped a lot with my communication style as I struggle with anxiety and Spanish interpreting at times. The back camera quality is AMAZINGGGGG and feels like I'm recording with a separate professional film/photography camera rather than just a phone. However, the back camera could use TONS of improvements to quality, feel, color grading, and grainess. I also wish a 20x zoom option was available like on Galaxies instead of only 10x like on the old S10e. It's a downer in the filming experience and doesn't make videos high quality from a distance either which us dissapointing. So far I have no other complaints. I randomly got a message that my phone had no SIM but it went away quickly so that's another thing.

Pros: The Flip 5 has great battery life (better than the Flip 4 or the Galaxy S22)! The external screen is very useful for checking texts, the weather, calendar, etc, without opening the phone. (MAJOR upgrade from the Flip 4.) Get a phone case with a screen protector for the external screen, though...probably a good idea to keep this phone in a seperate pocket than your keys or change! The phone easily fits into just about any pocket and the indentation where the screen folds is noticeably shallower than the previous model. The usb-c port was also upgraded on this year's model and can be used (with an adapter) to output upto 4K video to a monitor/tv. The 5G, Wifi6e, apps and processing are all seem just as quick and reliable as other high-end smart phones. Cons: the cameras are basically the same as the Flip4 and are pretty mediocre. Low light/night photos from the main cameras and especially, the selfie camera, are pretty dim. (The cameras on my old Galaxy S10 took better pictures, especially at night.) The hinge where the phone bends was supposedly upgraded from the Flip4, but it doesn't seem to hold the phone open as strongly as the pervious model...it require less force to open/close, though that may have been intended as a feature? (I find myself accidently partially closing my screen if I move the phone too quickly in certain directions.) The external screen doesn't support full apps, only widget versions of some apps. There seems to be a bit of lag when taking some photos, but not others, not terrible, but noticeable compared to the Flip4 or Galaxy S22. When trying to access photos saved in the "Gallery" from Facebook or Chrome browser, there's a strange 1~3 second lag before your camera roll will display, which is irritating...that DIDN'T happen on the Flip4. Remains to be seen: The Flip3s and Flip4s had an issue with the factory-installed screen protector eventually bubbling-up and seperating from the screen at the bend after about 1 year of use...hopefully Samsung has corrected that issue. Overall, a great phone, but due to its few short-comings, best to buy this phone when it's on sale.
Coming from the fold 3 and fold 4, the fold 6 is definitely worth jumping into. The boxiness and light weight of the fold 6 helped made the decision for me to get the phone. It just feels so much better than the predecessors. If samsung started off with fold 6 as the first fold phone, no competitors would had come close to them. However, it is not a perfect phone and does not have all the goodies a flag ship phone should have. I'm disappointed that samsung did not go with a titanium frame for the fold 6 like they had for the s24 ultra. This would had been justified for the price increase. In addition, having the same cameras setup as the s24 ultra would also help justified the price increase. The colors this year was also not as great as I hoped for. The black looks nice with it texture like appearance but the rest of the color did not stand out too much. I got the pink just because it was different than what I usually go for. I definitely would like colors like deep yellow or fire red or sunburst orange. These bright color options would have made the phone standout even more.Screen wise, nothing much had changed but the outer screen, even an increase of .1mm helped made the screen feels more bigger than the fold 4.Overall, the 100 dollars increase in the phone was not warranted at based on what kind of updates were given to the phone. Samsung at this point should relax on their marketing strategies and focus more on developing the fold or any other phones they have in their lineup. Samsung is a house hold name now and more money should be put in r&d to develop a fold phone with a 1500 dollars price would be perfect. If they ever releases an ultra version, 1800 to 1900 would be the sweet spot for those phone.
When I upgraded from the Samsung Galaxy Fold4 to the Fold6, I wasn't expecting a significant difference. I had grown accustomed to the Fold4's innovative design, but I wasn’t sure how much of an upgrade the Fold6 would feel. Turns out, the improvements are noticeable in all the right ways, and I was pleasantly surprised by just how much Samsung has refined the experience.First off, the squared-off edges are a game changer. The Fold6 feels much more comfortable in the hand because of this subtle redesign. It adds a sense of sturdiness, making it easier to grip, especially when using it one-handed in its folded form. The Fold6 feels much more comfortable in the hand because of this subtle redesign. It adds a sense of sturdiness, making it easier to grip, especially when using it one-handed in its folded form. The premium feel is enhanced by this design tweak, giving it a sleeker, more modern appearance compared to the more rounded Fold4.One of the most impressive aspects is how the Fold6 closes completely flush. With the Fold4, there was always that slight gap when folded, which, while not a dealbreaker, did make the device feel less seamless. The Fold6 completely remedies that, and the gapless close adds to the sense of quality, making the phone feel more like a unified piece of hardware.Another area where the Fold6 excels is in its thinness. Samsung has shaved off just enough millimeters to make a tangible difference, without sacrificing durability or screen quality. It’s noticeably slimmer when folded, which makes it much more pocketable and comfortable to carry around, even in tighter clothing. The thinner design also enhances the overall usability in both folded and unfolded modes, making it more practical for everyday use.The hinge mechanism also feels smoother, and there's a greater sense of durability. It clicks into place with a more satisfying and secure feel than the Fold4, and the fold itself feels less rigid. Even after extensive use, the Fold6 hinge shows no signs of wear, which was always a slight concern with foldable devices. The displays themselves are another small jump forward. The inner screen is as vibrant and fluid as ever, but I noticed improved brightness, especially in outdoor settings. The refresh rate seems smoother too, offering a more responsive experience, whether I’m gaming or just scrolling through apps. The outer screen, which on the Fold4 always felt a little cramped, feels more spacious and usable, thanks to the thinner bezels.Battery life is also worth noting. I wasn’t sure if the thinner design would mean a compromise on battery life, but the Fold6 has held up remarkably well. Even with heavy usage, switching between the inner and outer screens, and multitasking, I’ve been able to comfortably get through a full day without needing to recharge.Overall, upgrading from the Fold4 to the Fold6 has been a surprisingly big leap. From the squared-off edges to the flush close, the thinner profile, and the improved usability of the displays, Samsung has fine-tuned every aspect of this phone. It’s not just a slight refresh; it feels like a genuinely evolved version of the foldable experience, and I couldn’t be happier with the upgrade.
This was the first time I came into contact with a flip phone. Never had one before thus I was quite excited to try it out hoping it would be good enough to keep albeit the already bad reviews. First off, I love the concept very much and I actually had fun with it for the one week I was using it. It was nice, compact, when I go on walks, it was light enough I can hook it to my lanyard to put it around my neck/hand or I can tuck it in my pants pocket, and it will never fall out even when I run. I enjoy the outer screens as well with the convenience of checking weathers, calendar, timer, playing music, etc. although I had to download 3rd party app GoodLock to unlock more ways to use the small screen. Mini games and other apps were able to be access on the front outer screen thru GoodLock. The crease on the inner screen isn't noticeable when you stare straight at the screen but you will see it at other angles. As I use the phone, I forget that its there or sometimes I run my finger over it feeling amaze at the tech itself, thus it was not a big deal to me.Drawbacks are that if you want to play the other real games or grant permissions/verifications to certain websites/apps/programs, it requires you flip to the inner big screen just to hit yes. Also, when you answer a call in cover screen, it will only allow you to be in speaker mode. I think it would be nice if they give you an option to set where even when you watch a video/using apps/calls and close the inner screen, the video/apps/calls will continue to play/move to the cover screen. Though overall, its a fairly creative phone. Now the real dealbreaker for me is the quality of this phone. I made two purchases for the Flip5 phones to get the promotional discounts and both phones has small defects on them. The first phone, (just to clarify, I never drop nor mishandle the phone as I only either go on walks or stay indoors majority of time), after one week of used, the black trim that surround the inner screen easily pop out on one side as I flip it open. The second phone that I received has a loose hinge issue. While the first phone did not have any problem with the hinge, so I compare both phones. The second phone cannot stay open or hold in place at specific angles or flex modes but the first phone can because of the tighter hinge. Both phones have small defects coming out of the box, so it makes me question the quality of these phones for long term usage and I rather not waste more time going through repair processes later. Even with the discounts along with my trade-in, I rather spend $800-$900 on a more solid phone. I really want to love this phone because of all of its convenience features, but its very important that a phone has reliability and durability, thus I returned both Flip5 Phones. I will not recommend this phones to others. If you want to get this phone, do so at your own risk. Who knows, you may be one of the lucky few with damage-free flip5.I have no doubt Samsung will improve the Z Flip in the future, but for now, I think its still too soon for me to own a Flip phone with this quality.
I bought this phone jan 28 2024 and there is some things that i wish i knew and could have considered when choksing this phone. First of all the good things about it. Its unique and different than the regular phones you see everyone using so when others see your phone they become interested in it and thinks it looks cool. Its very compact too so it doesnt take up much space in your pocket. Lastly since it can fold, you can use your main camera as a selfie camera which provides somewhat better quality features. Why "somewhat"? Well now are the downsides. Since these types of phones are relatively new and dont have much competition, there isnt too much innovation going on from year to year. Yes the cover screen has gotten bigger but thats pretty much all im able to ... MoreI bought this phone jan 28 2024 and there is some things that i wish i knew and could have considered when choksing this phone. Why "somewhat"? Well now are the downsides. Since these types of phones are relatively new and dont have much competition, there isnt too much innovation going on from year to year. Yes the cover screen has gotten bigger but thats pretty much all im able to distinguish from last years zflip4 to this zflip5.The front camera honestly is ok, but really is several years behind what regular phones' cameras are like. And the inner camera is much worse, with only 8 megapixels. The lack of quality is easily noticeable. Anyways moving off of camera quality. Something VERY BIG you should consider when buying a zflip is its overheating problem. Im constantly on calls/ video calls while doing other stuff on my phone using the muli-task feature. But the zflip is unable to handle these tasks as it quickly(within 10 minutes) begins to overheat, closing my multi-task screen. Sometimes when im charging my phone and on video call it begins to overheat to such an extent where the phone forces all apps to close and ends my call. Im forced to use the battery saving feature so my phone does not do that, and even then my phone continues to overheat, albeit not that bad. Now moving on to the battery life. It lasts for around 6 hours normally so its quite behind what battery life regular phones have to offer. Honestly if i could go back and choose another phone i would, but despite this phone's shortcomings I still think its a nice phone to have. Just consider that if you are someone who is constantly taking photos or on video calls or you have to have your phone last the entire day gor whatever purpose, this phone is not one for you.
Extremely well-made with nice attention to detail, feels very solid in the hand. Has some nice tricks with the dual screens though finding the right angle for the cover screen facing you can be a little fiddly. Also, finding a case that doesn't bulge out between the hinge and power button when closed was a challenge.Amazon already dropped price ~$140 (so I guess it's not selling too well). I paid a premium to get the black version direct from Samsung but at least Sammy was selling the 512Gb for same price ($1099) as the 256 so, um, ok.Phone-wise, it's fine. I was rocking an S10e (which I absoloutely love) so it's hard to see much difference there. Closed, it's only marginally thick than the S10e in it's leather, wallet-stule case but it drops completely into my ... MoreExtremely well-made with nice attention to detail, feels very solid in the hand. Closed, it's only marginally thick than the S10e in it's leather, wallet-stule case but it drops completely into my shirt pockets without sticking out like the 10e. It is nice being able to answer calls or texts right from the cover screen, so that's a plus. With pretty light phone/text use, my more primary use is as a music player (Musicolet for the win!) and there, as usual, the sound is excellent. I look at the tiny speaker holes and have to wonder where is all that sound coming from. Sadly, there's no headphone jack. :(The screen is, well, it's nice. While you can defintely feels the fold as you swipe over it, you don't really see it when looking at the screen straight on; you can see it when looking at an angle but even then it's not that noticeable and doesn't look distorted.21:9 movies look glorious strecting across the whole screen, however, and you barely notice the teensy vignetting at the corners. All in all, a very nice device though, for $1100 I could buy 5 S10e's (I had recently ordered a spare one, in fact, shortly before purchasing this Flip) and it's really overkill for my needs. Being retired and leaving the house only once or twice a week, the 'wow' factor is pretty much limited to me but, if you have an active social life and like to preen when out, the e-peen is strong with this. Ooh, shiny!
The Fold 6 is now my second foldable from Samsung to date. The Fold 5 was a great leap from my S22 Ultra and I feel that this tablet/phone form factor favors the OneUI software best. To simplify this review, I will use two terms that define this amazing piece of hardware: versatility and refinement. The latter is why I upgraded to the 6th generation. The design melds the best of foldable technology with traditional smartphone form factors. I feel there is little to no sacrifice from a Galaxy Ultra to a Fold. The multitasking, media consumption abilities along with the streamlined software experience makes this the everyday carry you don't know you need until you've experienced it.Let's focus on Fold 6 specific software. Many companies are verging towards AI, but I feel that Samsungs Galaxy AI platform is the definition of what I call "useful AI". Creative professionals and amateurs alike can draw and edit photos with pro-level tools that are intuitive and make excellent quality of life updates to your content. Samsung Notes has been my go-to app for everything in my daily life...I simply haven't found a better solution. Now with the integration of AI summarization, handwriting correction and many other excellent tools for any project, it has secured itself as my main homescreen application. In summary, the final push for the Fold 6 becoming my daily device was refinement. Increased durability features, modern design language and great performance!
